Kerrea Gilbert – Leicester City 2-0 MK Dons
Kerrea Gilbert was among five new faces who made their debut for Leicester City this afternoon, as the Foxes began the new League season at home to Roberto Di Matteo’s Milton Keynes Dons.
Gilbert is very highly rated by manager Nigel Pearson, so much so he has handed him the number 4 shirt, and shipped out first-choice right back James Chambers, meaning Kerrea will be a regular for the promotion chasing outfit.
He lined up in a new-look Leicester side who have bolstered their ranks with the likes of Jack Hobbs, David Martin and Paul Dickov joining Gilbert by arriving from Premiership Clubs.
The early stages began in a competitive manner with the Arsenal man involved in taking several attacking throw ins. Matt Fryatt and Lloyd Dyer would flash early warning signs, before Fryatt was chopped down in the area by Sean O’Hanlon resulting in a penalty. He dusted himself down and smashed into the top left corner to send the giant crowd crazy.
Half time brought the opportunity to re-group and look to push home the advantage, and striker Fryatt had a hat-trick of chances to wrap up the points, but failed on each occasion. With the second strike eluding the hosts, fans favourite Paul Dickov was introduced in favour of Steve Howard, but neither side could establish control of the game.
However, with just 7 minutes left on the clock Max-Alain Gradel skipped into the box before pulling the ball back for Fryatt to slot home the second. The win wrapped up and a solid clean sheet for Kerrea, who put in a hard-working and energetic performance.
Pedro Botelho – UD Salamanca V C.F. Palencia
UD Salamanca are in action once more this evening this time in their third pre-season game after two wins from two games so far. Pedro has been the star man for the Union to date, after creating two goals and then getting on the score-sheet against UD Villamayor in a 14-2 win, he was rested for the 2-1 victory over Don Benito earlier in the week as UDS juggle their squad with a rush of fixtures.
The game is a 6.30pm kick off and a report will follow.

Yep very highly rated young defender, getting some good experience like Kerrea in the lower leagues now. First with Scunthorpe and now Leicester .
Sounds like Gilbert did ok. I once saw him as the player who would come throu the ranks and knock Hoyte out of the first team. But i just dont feel hes made enough steady progress, nd suprisingly i recon Hoyte has improved a bit over the last couple of seasons.
Excited about Pedro thou, ive got high hopes for him. I rly hope i manage to find a way of watchin a couple of Salamanca games this season or atleast seeing highlights. He should play a bigger part in the first team than he did last season.

Do u think Gilbert has any realistic chance of a future with Arsenal or do u think hes likely to be sold off at the end of this season and this loan move is just putting him in the shop window to ensure he gets the best possible move and we get the best possible price?
Yep seems like he is making movements with the Foxes, and lets hope he can establish himself
Maybe mate, i think he needs games under his belt, and then who knows whats possible.
It is great that Wenger is letting everyone play and it is great for the kids to get experience. Good going Wenger and a bright future for Arsenal.

If Hoyte leaves then Gilbert could find himself closer to the first team than previously expected. Other than Sagna and Eboue there is only Hoyte Junior( Who i believe is regarded more as a centre half) and Gilbert as cover for the right back spot. Im a firm believer that Gilbert has got the mental attribute (on the pitch) to play at the top level. Hopefully he will return from this loan spell playing at his best.
