Rumour – Arsenal's Henri Lansbury Set For Loan Spell

Arsenal midfielder Henri Lansbury is rumoured to be holding talks with a Championship club regarding a possible loan spell.

The 18-year-old bagged two goals on Thursday as the Gunners beat Worthing FC 5-1 in a friendly, and Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock was amongst the interested spectators. Henri completed the game showing no signs of possible injury, but was left out of this evening’s Reserves squad to face Chelsea.

Lansbury only recently returned from a 6 month spell on the sidelines with Glandular Fever, but was a near ever present over pre-season. With several more established names such as Mark Randall and Fran Mérida ahead of him in the pecking order, Henri cannot be guaranteed a regular place in Neil Banfield’s second string.

Arsène Wenger and former striker Alan Smith have both spoken highly of the tenacious central midfielder, but many feel a loan period would help develop his rising talents.

Little details have been announced regarding the deal, but reports have been circulating that the agreement could go through before the 00:00 transfer deadline.

More to follow…

Loans deals are not subject to the same cut off as Transfers (I think!) I’m sure I saw loans going through in sepember last season.

Good news here. Henri is a fantastic rising talent and needs some solid competitive high-level experience. He seems an excellent prospect (and being English is more welcome news for us!) and is hopefully a talent to watch out for. Here’s hoping he comes back markedly improved, and what a future he will have! Kudos again J for the site and story.

    He’s 17…not 18 till October. We’ve never loaned out anyone at 17.

Wenger must really want to fast track his development. Hope it goes through as Championship football will do him good.

I was told last night by the owner of a championship club he had been offered randall, gibbs or lansbury on loan deals. randall was supposedly with a view to raising his profile for a permanent move as he is no longer viewed as potential first team player (though that is contradicted by the new contracts he and gibbs have reportedly just signed).

Henri going to Palace makes good sense. Cashley went there and did really well.

Surely it can’t be helpful for the likes of Gibbs, Randall, Simpson and Merida to go back to playing reserves football after their loan spells? I suppose they could get used to playing with each other and could teach some of the players that haven’t gone on loan what they learned but I can’t see the benefits of keeping them other than that.

Yes they’ll play Carling Cup football but what if we get knocked out early? I suppose we could see them play in the PL but that would only be against bottom teams at the end if we have a comfortable lead, and with a fit squad none of them will make it onto the bench.

Um – that story’s ancient. A few of those old ones have been recycled over the past couple of days. Veloso may happen, but there’s to indicate that it’s more likely than the other rumours. Wenger’s clearly not doing much business at this moment in time in Barnet.

Henri Lansbury needs first team football at this stage of his career like Nacer Barazite did and it should be a good move for him if and when it ever happens IMO

A loan move would do Landsbury good although personally id like to see him stay until january and then go on loan. I recon he needs to build his confindance up again and he’ll do that better here, in the reserves and hopefully getting a couple of carlin cup games 2. But you cant be too fussy and if the chance to send him on loan has come up we should take it.
