Nordtveit Leaves Car As He Ends Salamanca Nightmare

Håvard Nordtveit was so determined to end his nightmare loan spell with UD Salamanca, that the Norwegian signed the release forms in the early hours of Wednesday morning, before immediately beginning his journey back to London.

Nordtveit drove to The Union’s Helmántico stadium at around 1am on Wednesday after hearing Arsenal had recalled the prospect, but instead of waiting until the morning to pack his stuff and say goodbyes, he jumped out of bed, into his car, and signed the relevant papers before booking return flights to Colney.

The former second-string skipper cleaned out his locker after penning the release agreement, and with just a handful of items, both he and his girlfriend took a coach to Madrid Airport. Håvard touched down yesterday morning yet his car and the rest of his possessions remain in Salamanca, with the media snapping the above picture of Nordtveit’s Ford Focus which still remains outside the ground.

Arsenal’s Reserves travel to Fulham on Monday evening with defensive problems undoing a lot of the good work this season, the 18-year-old is expected to play some part, that’s if somebody can give him a lift to the ground!.

How about throwing him in with a Champioship team? That would probably work.

I don´t think it was a nightmare. Everybody in the locker room appreciated him. He was just not playing.

Before leaving he spoke to all his mates in the locker room to thank for the way he had be treated and to say good bye.

    Good luck for him.

Nordtveit left in the early hours of the morning, several Salamanca sources claim this, and that he did NOT see his team mates after.

    john – No I don’t.

Alberto Morgado played for Real Sociedad last season alongside Fran Merida.

J.S. I don´t know what your sources are, and not really a big issue, but Nordveit saw his team mates aferwards, and with the help of Iturriaga and Sito Castro (the only 2 other players who can speak english) gave thanks to everybody for the treatment he received during these months.

jonty – at Arsenal, a lot. Havard is on £10,000 a week I think. Not quite at the levels of Traore (£15,000) but all the prospects who come in from abroad are on enormous wages from the beginning.

we pay out some shocking wages for some of our young no hope of ever playing for the first players like Rui Fonte. He was on at least £5,000 a week when he first joined us,maybe even £10,000,can’t remeber for sure but his agent said it at the time he joined us.

Haha, Nordtveit doesn’t make 10,000 quid a week. No way his demands were that high when he joined us as a 16 year old. AFAIK he hasn’t signed any new contract since then.

Players don’t make ‘demands’, Wenger has a wage structure that pays youngsters high and first-teamers low relative to other Premier League clubs of our calibre.
