Batrović 'Almost Certain' To Sign For Arsenal

FK Bubamara striker Veljko Batrović is ‘almost certain’ to join Arsenal’s growing list of Academy talents when he arrives in London next week ahead of a 7 day trial.

The diminutive striker, who became the youngest ever captain of Bubamara’s youth side, has been courted by many of Europe’s biggest club’s including AC Milan and Real Madrid. However, they have never firmed up their interest with offers, although Marseille and Olympiakos are believed to have had bids turned down.

It seems Arsenal have been monitoring the youngster for a while and rate him very highly. So much so that Arsène Wenger and chief scout Steve Rowley travelled to Montenegro in March to personally scout Batrović, who will touch down in London next week enabling both parties to ‘take a look at each other’.

Chairman Budom Miranović confirmed to the sports website AHA Online that his player is ‘almost certain’ to be changing employers in the coming weeks. When asked if the deal was completed he had this to say:

“Nothing is specified, but it is almost certain that Veljko will soon become a member of Arsenal’s Academy.”

“Nothing is yet finished, but Veljko will go to a club with the strongest agreement, not only for Bubamara, but for Montenegro football in general. The details we’ll talk about when the time comes.”

Miranović is believed to be holding out for an arrangement similar to that which links Arsenal and UD Salamanca as part of the transfer, with the Gunners getting the first choice of any promising prospects coming through their Academy. Whatever happens it seems the striker nicknamed ‘The Wizard’ is only days away from becoming our latest Young Gun.

Everything has been passed onto the judges and we’ll make an announcement in the coming days.

Don’t worry about it, and if he has any concerns tell him to e-mail me and I’ll set him at ease.

Wow. Really quite exciting with the youth players Arsenal have landed this summer. It might not be as interesting as the first team sagas, but these players are the ones who’ll make up the core of the Gunners for years to come. Good stuff on the Arsenal staff for spotting these kids and securing them for the Arsenal program.

SebCesc – I see myself as more as the glamerous Cheryl Cole, except I’m not going out with to a complete c**t!

Claude – Haha, I wouldn’t normally have reported on this but I found this snippet of information. No point in just reporting what somebody else has reported unless you’ve got some information to add to it.

I’ve never heard of this kid, but I know Serbia is a hot bed of talent at the moment. They’re a real developing country and I think in a few years they’ll have an exciting national team.

When you say, “Miranović is believed…” I wonder if you mean that you believe it, or if another source believes it, or where this comes from? Why don’t you say Who believes it? I am firstly only wondering, really, as this is a very journalistic way of putting things that is relied on to 1. keep a source anonymous, and 2. to put forward your own speculation based on a few bits and pieces, or 3. to make something up.

As you clearly have a lot of credibility on the basis of your work over the last few years, I don’t think it’s 3. Maybe you are practicing to be a journalist later in life. Fine. If not, why not just write Who believes this? It would be more interesting for readers to know where information/ideas come from – it is a blog, after all, and logical, informed opinions are welcome[!] – and it would be doing us all a favour as a democratic society. The Dick Cheney’s of the world want us to believe and never push for more information. Passing along ideas in this cryptic style just conditions young people to fall in line with a way of relating to information that is key element of totalitarianism. As you [mis-]use this journalistic syntax a lot I just thought I’d mention this. Sorry to get political.

So will he stay at his current club until he is 18 or will he move straight to Arsenal’s youth team? I thought any Serbian players need to be above 18 years old before they can move to another country like Man U’s Ljajic, or am I mistaken?

ML – Yep he’s been dubbed the new Messi, only because they are smallish talented forwards. I wouldn’t read too much into it.

Home Alone, fair enough. When the news broke I searched around and it was hinted at in one of the Serbian newspapers but it wasn’t confirmed. Hence why I put ‘belived’. Sorry if it wasn’t clear enough for you.

Can’t wait to see some young guns vids again. Let the season begin.

THere is so much to come from our academy. Anyone noticed how the big clubs start emulating our youth strategy? We must be doing something right. They can only copy though not provide like we do.

In a few years time we all look back and say: “It was worth the waiting.”

Thanks youngguns for providing more depth to our club’s identity. For me your blog adds sincere value to my fanship of the Arsenal.

I just hope we don’t turn out like Ajax…great young players coming through and successes came their way for too short a time before richer, more famous clubs just grabbed all the bright-eyed young talent.

Hmmm.. its usually a good sign when Wenger and Steve Rowley go to have a look..

Wasn’t it an Ajax coach that said he checks the crowd for Rowley, and if he sees him he knows he’s going to ‘lose a good one’?

Good news lads. He really exists and his old man played for Partizan Belgrade. He’s Montengrin. On the down side, Bubamara isn’t a real Football Club–in fact “Bubamara” means “ladybird” in Serbian. There is a youth set up in Kraljevo, Serbia by that name “Bubamara 91”, but he is too old to be listed on their books.

Serbia and Montenegro used to play football as one, but have now seperated into two nations.

Serbia is producing alot of young promising players, such as the 2 guys at Man U, and Vidic. also Zigic are 2 of the more experienced players.

Look out for them in future tournaments.

    Dnt know much about Montenegro.

Arshavin? Walcott? Dare I say Rosicky? Also lol what are saying we don’t have good full backs? Clichy and Sagna are up there with the best pairings in the world (if only they’d put a decent cross in) and in Traore, Gibbs and Eboue, highly capable back ups. Ok they aren’t Cafu and Carlos yet, but considering Sagna is only 26 (a couple years away from the ‘prime’ of his career’) and Clichy even younger – well, it’s not something complain about at Arsenal.

Unless you meant in the reserves etc. in which – oh well. Gibbs was a CM now he’s the most exciting young LB in England. We breed CMs because of the technical ability and then when they get older and (hopefully) wiser, they are taught the ways of a position, just like Gibbs at LB, Lansbury at RM, etc. (Or they stay CMs). :)
