Kieran Gibbs Injured On England Under 21 Duty

Kieran Gibbs was taken off injured during England Under 21’s clash with their Lithuanian counterparts this evening.

Gibbs returned to his usual left back birth after previously being deployed in the ‘number 10’ role behind Andy Carroll last time out. Just 21 minutes on the clock Stuart Pearce was forced into a reshuffle after the Arsenal man signalled he was unable to continue. Ryan Bertrand replaced him.

More to follow.

Silvestre will play there or Traore if match fit. Or move Gallas or Vermaelen there and put in Senderos or Song in the centre, and play Ramsey in mid!

Nice to see a bit of gooner support. FFS, Traore is more than adequate to fill in at LB, its eithe rhim or Sylvestre, and as Traore is in the top 10 fastest prem players, I say we’d be better with him. The lads not had alot of games since he left pompey, but he’s more than adequate cover.

There’s no point in keeping Traore if we are not going to play him at LB in games like this. Sunderland away is a tough game but i wouldn’t fancy him to come in without a game against Chelsea. I think we all know what they did to Sylvestre last time we met them so i dont think he’s an option.

Traore will cope as good as Clichy or Gibbs would have…….BESIDES, whose to say Gibbs only has cramp???? He could be back playing against Sunderland FFS

Our injured players could play in a 3-5-2 formation:

    Fabianski

    Clichy, Djourou, Gibbs

    Walcott, Wilshere, Denilson, Diaby, Vela

    Van Persie, Bendtner

hopefully just because of strain and able to solve quickly at the treatment table. Silvestre is able though, Traore hopefully has worked on his defensive qualities…but most of all just feeling a strong desire to say lots of words my mama taught me not to say…this is frustrating

What are your people talking about??!! Frankly speaking i am more at ease when Traore is playing than Gibbs.Traore is better than Gibbs hands down and i must admit i was relishing his return coz i rate him higher than Gibbs and for some of you who have doubts about him,you will surely change your minds after the sunderland game if he is given a run out.

It does suck but you guys have forgotten that verminator was offered and played at ajax in the left back position. if wenger plays him at left back then he can give senderos the chance he has been craving. it could turn out to be a blessing in disguise.

If I recall correctly, The Verminator played LB at Ajax. It’s not his optimum position, but might we look at moving him over temporarily and giving Big Phil some time in the middle to partner with Gallas? If Gibbs is out a match or two, that might not be a terrible short term solution.

Don’t panic gents. It’s a testement to Wenger’s squad that Traore can step in. I think Traore will be adequate cover for the 3-4 matches it will take for one of Gibbs or Clichy to return to the side.

I pick Eboue to replace him. Traore will leak goals like a broken dam. Traore has no defensive discipline.

In fact, Traore hasn’t played a full game for Arsenal before as his poor performance at LB forces Arsene to substitute him.

The way to stop the injury is to cut back on foreign recruitment. They travel far away and get kicked left and right; some as far as South America who come back knackered.

Traore can’t do the job. Arsene knows he’s not good in that position after several tries. He was deputy to Clichy before but after being found out, he dropped below the pecking order.

Note that Traore he’s not played a full game for the team before. Arsene knows. Against Sunderland, we need height, pace and defensive disciple so Eboue plays.

We could put Sagna for LB and Eboue for LB. Or just put Traore at LB, just please don’t pull Silvestre there, he is a worse LB than CB, and that takes a lot. Considering Wenger’s recent comments, he is not shuffling Vermaelen or Gallas.

If Gibbs is unable to go on Saturday, I say the safest choice is Eboue at LB. Late last season when both Gibbs and Clichy were injured, Eboue stepped in at LB and did a very solid job. I know there are a ton of Gibbs’ supporters on here, but I actually thought that Eboue looked a safer/more confident option to Clichy at that point. Not to say we wouldn’t have otherwise fallen to Man Utd in the Champions League with Eboue, but I would have gone in more confident. That being said, Gibbs has made large improvements to his game since then (though Eboue looks better as well over last season as well).

Wenger has a lot of options: TV5, Eboue, Traore, Silvestre. I’m not too worried against the mediocre clubs coming next on our schedule, but I wouldn’t want a 3rd choice LB, or any other position, in a few weeks’ time when we face Chelsea and Liverpool.

No to Traore at LB! Unless he really has upped his game. He’s not an LB. If they play him on the wing then no worries for me. He does very well on the wing. But I shiver when he plays at LB, that’s just me being honest. There are a lot of options we could use, but I’d prefer we keep Vermaelen central.

Look traure will pla lb and if we and against sunderland his pace could be useful, cause dnt forget sunderland are really gonna go defensive. Pitty diaby is injured he has ben great this season but merida, nasri or hopfully ramsey willbe fine replacements. Upfront though eddie will get goals but after his injuries he wont have fitness for all these games till middle of december when bendy and walcoot will be fit to play so STEP UP VELA and show the world what u can do

Vermaelen can play at left back, however most of the time he plays poorly at left back. His lack of pace exposes him too much.
According to Arsene Wenger at the beginning of the season Traore is not a left back anymore. Armand is better than Gibbs going forward but he lacks the positional intelligence to be able to play left back. His defensive ability are nearly non-existent.

Eboue may not bring AT’s quality of crosses from the left, however he offers much more defensive capability. Against Sunderland Traore may be tried but against Chelsea either Eboue will play there or Gibbs would have recovered.
THat is assuming that nor Eboue or Sagna suffers from injury in Wednesday game.
Eboue could still injure Ballack just to equalize the situation.

I wouldn’t play Traore at LB against Sunderland, probably opting for Sagna to switch there and let Eboue play RB. However, against Chelsea at home the following week i’d let Traore loose at LB to give Ivanovic the runaround. Ivanovic isn’t fast and doesn’t get forward too much to support their attacks. In fact, he’s a CB doing a job at RB for the Chavs at this moment in time. If Bosingwa wasn’t injured and he was gonna play against us then there ain’t a chance in hell i’d let Traore play there but as it stands, that is exactly what i’d do.
