Villa's Young Backs Arsenal Brother Kyle For England

In a week which saw Aston Villa’s Ashley Young add to his growing number of England caps, the highly rated winger tipped his 12-year-old brother Kyle Young to one day join him in donning the Three Lions jersey.

Ashley is the oldest of three footballing brothers which includes 20-year-old Lewis, who is a fringe player at Watford, and Kyle who joined Arsenal from the Hornets Academy recently. Much has been made of Kyle’s development and future prospects especially after Ashley told the media ‘he will become a better player than me’ – a statement he reiterated in an interview with The People.

“It might not be long until I am playing against Kyle – I think he is going to be better than me.”

“I’d love to play alongside him for England one day – that would be a dream for us.”

Arsenal are trying to keep Kyle’s development under wraps but with the media hype growing, that task will become almost impossible. A tricky winger who can play as a striker, the playing style is similar between the elder and younger brothers but there remains a long way to go before we really know how good Kyle can be.

The trios father is an avid Tottenham fan but a strong Arsenal influence has always run through the family in the form of Ashley’s love for Ian Wright. A large number of Premier League clubs tried to sign Kyle but his mother prevented him from joining any system until he was nine. The future certainly looks interesting for the youngest yet potentially most exciting of the Young brothers.

Off topic but I was wondering about Vela. You said a few days ago that his first game was likely to be the Carling tie against City: surely he’ll at least be on the bench next Saturday, especially with Van Persie being injured? Or is he still injured? Where is Vela at the moment, is he with the Mexico squad?

Ashley Young hyping his 12 year old brother and putting more pressure on him. Doesn’t seem too smart for me..

I know we all like to talk up young players pardon the pun, but bigging up 12 year olds seems a bit OTT to me IMO.

Kyle the best right winger in the U-14’s? at least two boys are ahead of him in the squad, Alex and Joel, both a bit special!

Unlike all you, im actually one of kyle’s best friends. I know all his family and Ashley. He is a very pacey and skillful winger and i could put good bets on him too. He is now 14, turned it in early March. He has just got a new contract at Arsenal until 16. TC shut your mouth, Ashley doesn’t cheat at all, he is one of the best players at Villa. And one of the best set-piece takers in England. Kyle definately has the ability if he carries on to follow his brother and if not go higher. But thats only if he puts his head to it. But i think he will, his whole family are very supporting and his brother wont let him slip. Watch for this name.
