Arsenal's Gazidis Agrees Zézinho Deal + Video

Arsenal will return to Brazilian Serie ‘B’ outfit Juventude in January with a second and ultimately successful bid for their exciting play-maker José Luis dos Santos Pinto, known simply as Zézinho.

After the 17-year-old had a successful trial last summer, Arsenal have been intent on snapping up the Brazil Under 17 international but a bid of £1.5 million was rejected, with Juventude asking for closer to his buyout clause of £35 million. However, after prolonged negotiations, Ivan Gazidis has thrashed out an arrangement which will see around £5 million change hands for the prospects services.

A diminutive, skilful and strong left footed winger who can play as a striker, South American scout Sandro Orlandelli has been making regular checks including witnessing him bag a stunning winner against Portuguesa in August. Celta Vigo have already been in touch regarding a potential loan spell but Arsène Wenger is yet to assess his options.

Zézinho is one of the most experienced youngsters in the Brazil youth teams and you can check out the goal that Orlandelli watched the starlet score in August below.

And Luis Gil? How is that going? When are we gonna get confirmation about Wellington btw? Are these two (Zezinho and Wellington) teammates in the national team? That would be a good development.

I don’t think so, I think there is room for everybody. We don’t really have any wingers coming through.

Martin Galvan won’t be coming now, Wellington signing cancels that out.

We are 11 points behind chelsea and we are buying another kid with potential? Will this ever stop?
Fabiański( who I do rate)- 2m
    Denilson- 3,5 m
    Walcott- 9m
    Diaby- 3, 5 m
    Zezinhio- 5m
We could have bought 2 quality players for that sort of cash. It’s just my opinion.

No offense, but perhaps Wenger should stop signing youngsters for a while, and start signing players for now, Even Jovetic and Subotic are young but would make an immediate impact.

They should try and maintain the standard of the first team. Though the youth policy is Ok but the team that represent our pride is deteriorating. We need tall experienced defender and striker. But one thing wrong with Prof is that he thinks he knows what he is doing only to end up in embarrassing himself and breaking the heart of fans. Life is not about policy every time. He knows what is right and he should stop all these gambling and hoping on miracles.

    1. Being small isn’t a problem. Hell, Arshavin is one to talk, he’s tiny but strong as an ox. Barcelona won everything last season because of Xavi, Iniesta and Messi- size really mattered there huh? Talent overcomes all.

    2. If he goes on loan, he goes on loan. A neccesary evil but he’ll get experience he may not get straight away here. Denilson got a special talent visa though.

    3. Maciek: Well, we did get at least 2 quality players for that: Walcott and Denilson. Zezinho looks the nuts (and Rowley said we will only buy youngsters from abroad if we think they are the next Kaka). Diaby has been good so far this season in my opinion. So thats 4. Wanna prove your statement, and then go tell Rowley and Wenger?

    4. Aloy- you talk like young players never grow up. Quite frankly, people who think like this are stupid. Embarrassing? Tell that to a West Ham fan- they gambled on experience and it worked out super, didn’t it? When Zezinho is 25, Nasri will be 29 and Walcott 28. These are players that cherise the club and want to – and will – become world class players here. They are already seasoned internationals who play in Champions League semi finals. What an embarrasement huh?

    5. People act like the club is no longer in debt or have massive loans to pay off every season. We could act like Liverpool and ignore them I guess, how you think that will work out?

    6. TheCritic- you claim that in order to stop the youth policy we should buy… players under 20? How often you watch Fiorentina my good man? How about Pato at Milan? Aguero at Madrid? Higuain’s first two seasons? Balotelli? Young players cannot play at full ability every game of the season and see setbacks. We currently have a team of an average age of 23 (Almunia and Gallas pushing the figure high); the invincibles had an average age of 28. To expect perfection every match is juvenile for a fan of any team, including the 1billion Real Madrid team of current- but of the relative start of a revolution like ourselves is unbelievely naive.

    7. Just to clarify, I’m not against spending on more experienced players. I just think we should be careful and less naive. We are not in a position to spend like our immediate rivals and we have had success in youth transfers; it would be absurd to stop when it is producing players of Cesc Fabregas quality. Our main reserves should though be kept for when we need a Vermaelan or Sagna to supplement a team when it is absolutely needed; otherwise it is a waste and stops special talent getting an opportunity. We don’t have the resources to spend like our rivals, so we need to stop thinking like them.

finally, someone makes sense.. My thoughts exactly.. Kudos 2 samuel 4 bringing all those points up.. Arsenal have neva been big spenders.. N jus one more point.. Everyone says buy buy buy.. Buy who? Chamakh? Watch him play, n u’ll realise bendtner may b as good as him ryt now, if not, hes certainly not far off.. Dzeko? Been quite average this season.. But what everyone wants is another drogba or torres.. Name one player at that level.. Lets jus assume v can buy anyone.. But who is out there? Noone.. Dont say villa bcoz he isnt physical enough.. U know wat i think.. Someone should jus sit with eduardo n vela n tell them- its alright 2 kick d ball with their ryt foot.. Thats wat rvp learnt in d last 12 months or say, n thats y hes been so lethal.. Jus kick d ball with their swinger.. I dont care if it hits d metaphorical roof of d stadium.. Jus attempt it.. Make d goalie save it, even if its a weak shot..

Samuel, good points. The RVP cultured striker role fits perfectly supplying the sides coming in. So no Drogba type definitely, unless he wants to vary the tactics more. So who would fit that profile? Somebody with excellent close control , creativity and composure. When it comes to Diaby I disagree though, I think he has not been good, hit with injuries and being incosistent.

Song excellent, but Nasri, Rosicky and Denilson still trying to come back from injuries. Buying a new midfielder would then question Ramseys future development. The combination of wing backs, with the players supposed to cover, have not adjusted to new tactic; though wing backs proved themselves consistent in previous seasons. And Edu not fully back. Bendtner is out which leaves some physique, he always tries. Arshavin needs to perform, so needs Walcott though the latter has been injured

yaniv, agree with you. Eduardo was certainly one of the best players at Arsenal before the injury, as Song says give him time, Vela has wonderful composure and close control in tight space; just look at that one shot against City how he controlled the bend and dip, the one thing that lacks with him is his physique and mentality as you say. Which strikers would fill the profile? I can only think of Villa now, but way overpriced certainly. Do not think we need a target man aka Drogba/Carew/Heskey up front

By the way, is it not said before first team and youth squads have separate transfer budgets?

and list the attackers bought in the league the latest years. Berbatov, Tevez, Keane, Robinho etc etc., huge names but few can say to be immediate huge successes. So they need time to adjust, and talents need time to adjust. There has to be an exceptional player that comes through at once…not even Henry did that…Vieira did

i really dont get d negativity here.. Everyone thinks that just bcoz someone is playing well in a different league, they’ll automatically remedy our situation.. There is so much le gaffer has 2 consider.. Lyk can d player cope with d culture change, bcoz its almost lyk a culture shock 2 most players from other leagues.. Is d player willing 2 b a squad player.. Does the player actually have a good chance of making it in england.. This is real life n not fifa10 where a players ratings r d be all n end all.. On paper a team may look strong, but on d field, its usually not d case.. In absolute honesty, i’m pretty glad ppl r writing us off 4 d title again this year.. I never really thought ours was a title winning squad, think its 1 season 2 early 4 that.. This gives le gaffer plenty of tym this season 2 test d youngsters.. Give d club a real gunner backbone.. N then add certain pieces he feels necessary.. Who knows, by d season end, v mayb seeing players lyk freeman n afobe getting onto d bench.. Wow!!! That itself is an awesome thought

What is the point in buying kids with potential if they lose 5:1 against spurs in the semi of the league cup or 3:0 against Man City team( strong to be fair, but still). If they are so talented, why they play without any desire and passion? If everything is so good why we havn’t won a single trophy since 2005? Why we are 3rd in the league 11 points off chelsea? Almost everyone at Arsenal FC thinks that You need to spend 100 milion pounds per season to be successful. It’s not true. Yes, sometimes You must spend big,and at the moment we must since we need a world class gk, a quality cd, a quality cdm and a striker with winger.
Samuel- I respect Your opinion but- Walcott is overrated and Denislon is crap. Gilberto is still miles ahead of him. And what have exactly Diaby or Walcott done? Best wishes.

you really need to ask what walcott has done? do you really have that short an attention span? Also calling Denilson crap is ridiculous. He is a terrific passer even though a lot of his passes are forward (he even got 7 assists from DM last season), he can score 30 yarders like he did last week, he has the best intercept rate in the league by miles and is one of the top 10 most successful tacklers. All at 21. Where was Gilberto at 21? Diaby is harder to defend as he does have extremely bad days as well but I believe in him.

The point of buying kids with potential is they grow up. Parts of the team that lost to Spurs years ago went on to beat them 3-0 last month. Play without desire and passion? Is this the same team who beat Everton 6-1 and have been outscoring most teams that come to us with ease? Was there no passion when Cesc got 4 assists and 2 goals in 1 match? What about when Arshavin got 3 assists and 1 goal in 1 match? How about everytime when Vermaelan or Song look too far away and yet still pull off an inch perfect tackle from going the extra yard?

Anyone remember 2 seasons ago when Barcelona came 3rd and the public pointed at Xavi and Iniesta and said ‘they are too small, Iniesta has no passion to stay in the team’ and ‘Messi would be great if only he worked harder to stay fit but maybe he doesn’t desire it hard enough’. And then we saw these players grow a year older, a year wiser and they single handedly won everything within their grasp. ‘Well they spent a lot as well that summer’ I hear you say as if Caceres and Hleb really added… well, anything. (Dani Alves was important though, I’ll give you that, their Vermaelan so to speak ;) .)

I think senna is the perfect solution. He can replace song during acon. When he comes back, he can play alongside fab. He’s got an excellent shot, i think he could play in the champions league(not sure). Bad thing about him: he might find it hard to adapt to the premier league(doesn’t speak english and old). But hey you’ve got to take risks in life. He might also be quite expensive.

Mr. Sanderson, I have a question that has been gnawing at me for a couple of months. I’d like to hear your opinion on this.

From the reserves, who in your opinion, if anyone, is ready to become Song’s understudy and fill the DM role while he is on ACN duty?

I’ve held a lot of hope in Coquelin since he joined the club. He’s looked tremendous to my eyes and I’d like to see him given a shot.

I was looking forward to seeing him play in the Carling Cup this season and I really hoped he would take his chance and shine, so that Mr. Wenger couldn’t fail to notice him. So you can imagine my disappointment when the reserve team right back, Eastmond got the nod in the Carling Cup matches.

Now I admit Eastmond did well. But what happened there? Frimpong and Coquelin were competing for that position for awhile and out of the blue Eastmond suddenly appears. It makes no sense to me. Do you think Eastmond better than Coquelin and Frimpong?

I’m not a Denilson fan, and I don’t expect Mr. Wenger will purchase a decent DM in the transfer window. So I’d really like to see one of these fellows from the reserves given a chance when Song is away.

I fear players like Coquelin and Simpson, who I believe have what it takes to become Arsenal quality, won’t get a shot and will have to leave the club to further their careers. To our detriment and shame….

Coutinho is awesome – but we cant have them all :) However i’d love us to get the other Wellington – he looks awesoem too – isn’t he more of a wide midfielder? btw this Brazil u-17 crop has bags of talent.

Just want to comment on the youth v experience debate. i don’t think we’l see much transfer activity under wenger. He only buys if it becomes critical, therefore we will just have to wait once this squad gets older/mature enough to win trophies. Wenger will not buy ready made players who will push players like denilson onto the bench. I think Denilson is brilliant but is a work in progress.
