Team Predictions: Arsenal V Manchester City

As Arsène Wenger readys his squad for the trip to Eastlands tomorrow, there is still great debate as to who will lineup against an expected multi-million pound Manchester City XI in the 7.45 kick off.

Wenger confirmed this afternoon that the youngsters will play, but their may be a scattering of more senior young players. Jack Wilshere is expected to be passed fit while Craig Eastmond will be in the squad. But whether he will start at the expense of Francis Coquelin or Emmanuel Frimpong, nobody knows.

So in a feature often run on Gooner Talk, we’re going to open up the team selection debate to our readers. Post your views below.

Gilbert-Senderos-Silvestre-Traore?! (Dare he risk our last LB?)
    Ramsey-Eastmond-Merida
    Wilshere-Walcott-Vela

I have got these horifically wrong the last two ties, so don’t count on it :)

I’d go for, this is obviously dependant on Wilshire’s fitness and Wenger’s inclination to give Vela a chance to get some confidence.

    Fabianski
    Gilbert-Senderos-Silvestre-Traore
    Ramsey-Coquelin-Merida
    Wilshire-Vela-Watt

    Gilbert – Senderos – Silvestre – Cruise

    Ramsey – Frimpong – Merida

    Walcott – Vela – Wishire

If I have 5 right I will be happy. I would like to see Couqalin get some minutes also.

Is Fabianski fit now? If he is I will go for him. IMO I would prefer to see Coquelin ahead of Eastmond, but I think Wenger likes Eastmond and will go for him.

kumquat’s not far off IMHO. But one or two more experienced guys need some game time: Eboué for Traore? Rosicky, Nasri, Eduardo also possibles. My team features 3 Ws up front:
    Mannone
    Gilbert-Senderos-Silvestre-Eboué
    Rosicky-Ramsey-Merida

Although we are all up for giving the Carling Cup to kids ..

I am worried about a repeat of Black Tuesday on 22 January 2008, when we lost 1-5 to the spudlings in the Carling cup ..

Knowing that this game is coming after two losses in the premiership and especially a humiliating loss against Chelsea at home.

Can the kids cope with all this unwanted pressure to do well and up against a squad that cost £100M+ ..

This is a big game for the morale of all the senior/junior players at the club for this season’s campaign ..

Whichever team you put will stand a chance against us at the minute. Pretty much since we beat you earlier in the season we have looked totally out of sorts at home – scared to attack and vulnerable at the back. If the kids pass the ball like they have done every time i have watched them then you should get some joy. I just hope that, on the day, experience may count in our favour. Peace

R3DD3R: Playing high quality competetion early in their career and either proving their worth and inifinite potential or failing miserably will surely be a great indicator of what these guys will go on to achieve. It won’t ruin any careers or confidences (well, maybe Big Phils, but he’ll get some alright club next season) if we lose- the boss knows how to handle any situation youngsters better than anyone. Plus, we could win!

    My guess:

    Wookash
    Gilbert Silvestre Senderos Eboue
    Eastmond
    Ramsey Wilshere
    Walcott Vela Rosicky

Would like to see Silvestre at LB and Ayling or Bartley (who in my mind have some how molded into 1 player) get a go. Also Coq>>>Eastmond, obv. Would like to see more of Watt as well, but I think whoever’s least likely to start at the weekend from Nasri/Arsh/Rosicky will play (and thus I named Tomas.)

Merida’s suspension does NOT start until December 9th., so he certainly is available & will surely play.

Everyone’s teams are interesting. We may well see Rosicky, Nasri, maybe Denilson, who may need games plus possibly Eboue.

Hard ask up there but these games are there to be enjoyed win or lose.

    Personal hopes:

    Fabianski

    Ramsey – Coquelin – Merida
    Wilshere – Vela – Walcott

Meridas ban will not start untill Dec 9th so he will surely be available for Wenger.
Don’t think Wenger wants to risk his only LB right now and therefor Eboue will take Traores place.

Traore was nervous and/or too respectful against chelsea and played within himself, especially once he got the yellow. To be expected. He’ll grow from the experience and maybe soon he’ll be a terror down the left, at least against much weaker clubs.

I don’t know about you lot but i can’t stand this fucker. I even saw him at Butlins when i was a kid some 15 years or so years ago and my cuz got his autograph but i just despise the cu** nowadays. He’s got some bloody cheek. Walcott and Ramsey is all we’ve spent £5m or more on (When still in their teens) that i can think of off the top of my head. Citeh have always had a brilliant academy and have always produced good talent but those kids will leave them now as they have a different business model. The ‘it’s not working, throw money at it’ one. They’ve already lost Sturridge who IMO has immense potential if guided and nurtured correctly.

Can’t see Traore playing in this one because of the obvious risk of losing another left back…perhaps we will see Ignasi Miquel or Thomas Cruise in this role?…I think Vela and Walcott need the game time and perhaps more importantly the confidence of a start rather than coming off the bench…

It’s going to be a difficult match with certain ex Arsenal players looking to make a statement, however i think what ever team Arsene wenger puts out will give a good account for themselves.
I would realy like to see Coqulin given a run out in a 4-4-2 line up that would look something like this:

Fabianski, Eboue, Bartley,Senderos, Traore, Ramsey, Eastmond, Coqulin, Merida, Watt, Vella.

ditto about Randall, to be fair I think quite a few players have reached the end of their spell in our reserves and our taking up spots that other youngsters could have. Randall should go, Jay Simpson has found his level and should move on, nice guy, but really not going to get a chance for us. Barazite needs to move on (is he fit, because he aint in the selection).

Merida is getting to this stage too, he is 20 now and if he doesn’t get into the first team soon, then I think there is only so long we can persevere with this guy. Shame because he has the potential, just there is so much talent ahead of him in the first team. I think he has realised this himself.

i think this will be a measure of what level le gaffer thinks wilshire is at.. He always has maintained that he sees him as a central player, n is playing him wide as part of his education as well as for experience.. You guys think he’ll start wide ryt in d front 3.. If thats d case in d match, it shows he still is a way off.. But if his pos is swapped with rosicky in supers lineup, it’ll b a clear indicator he really is in convention 4 d first team

i meant contention.. Also, senderos being dropped surely is a sign of things to come.. N dare i say it, so is d fact that walcott is starting 2 test le gaffers patience with the consistency with which he visits d doctors..
