Wilshere 'In The Shop Window' Against Olympiacos

Arsène Wenger will hand Jack Wilshere a start tonight against Olympiacos in the biggest game of his already exceptional career. Yet as the 17-year-old takes another large stride on the path to becoming an Arsenal regular, his French mentor will offer up the maestro’s services in the January transfer window in a bid to put the final touches to one of the most promising young starlets in the world.

Wenger has monitored Jack’s development closely but as he physically bulks up and becomes hungrier for minutes, only experience is left to be added to his game. Playing time will be limited to the Cup competitions and occasional Premier League run outs so it’s only natural that the club are considering a host of loan offers.

Celtic, Middlesbrough and West Brom are all believed to be making checks on the England Under 21 international and a solid performance in Greece tonight could be the rubber stamp on outfits firming up their interest. Wenger admits the subject is ‘sensitive’ as he wants to find the right move before sending Wilshere out.

“Jack is impatient to play and he wants to play. He has the quality of a top-level player but he is still very young to throw in every week in the Premier League.”

“We have had a few enquiries about him. But it is always a sensitive subject to give the players out on loan because you must trust the manager that they will play them.”

Arsenal are always looking for sides who play good quality football so the Championship looks to be a more likely option rather than the more ruthless top flight, but whether Wenger allows the youngster to fly the nest for the final 3 months of the season, it’s as yet unknown. However, should Jack star tonight, clubs will no doubt form a queue.

How about QPR that would mean he wouldnt have to move out of London. Well if they are interested.

Ajax would be a great team but game time might be unlikely.

Sometimes loans can backfire, with players picking up bad habits, injuries and having ll technical ability kicked out of them.

I would be very cautious before sending our best kid off to another team.

J, any team news? Wenger has stated that Bartley, Song, Silvestre and Cruise will start along with Gilbert. Does that mean Eastmond misses out on the holding role?

What about the possibility of a Wilshere loan spell to West Ham, as sort of a make-weight in a bid for Carlton Cole? Zola seems amenable to bringing in young (cheap) talent… are there any other youngsters that could be used in such a fashion i.e strikers. I am just thinking of the scenario that was shopped in the late summer about Vela going on loan to Fulham as part of a bid for Hangeland.

Surely theres only one destination for Wilshere….Sunderland! Mr Bruce loves an Arsenal player on loan, think they could probably do with him as well.

Watford maybe? Atleast 1 month and see how he does. Middlesbrough might make him depress when he meet J.Hoyte….

I think Portsmouth could be perfect. West Ham and Sunderland might also work fine. We can exclude the Top7 (Chelsea, United, City, Spuds, Villa, Pool) and also all the shitkickers of this league (Bolton, Hull, Blackburn etc.).

Maybe Wigan could be great. I would like to see Jack team up with Rodallega. Everton won’t need him when Arteta gets back. Portsmouth would be dying to get a player like him and they don’t play that bad football. At least there should be half a dozen options in the EPL and if Wenger decides to loan him he will choose the team with the manager he trusts the best.

I wouldn’t like to see jack go on loan. He is already too injury prone. he is really small and only 17. Give his body the rest of this season to grow and gain strength then think about a loan, or maybe integration with Arsenal first team. I don’t see how it will benefit him to get kicked around and injured and play in a team that hoofs the ball. He should stay with us, but get more sub appearances and work his way into the first team.

Why Song in the starting Eleven?!?
He is one of the best of our team, but he was “overplayed” in the last few games, he needs to rest.
Also he could get injure tonight and then it seems very bad.

Song was rested against Stoke, a game will do him good ahead of Liverpool.

He might not even play the whole game anyway, Francis Coquelin is on the bench.

Eastmond also, but I think for example Coquelin deserves a chance, he was also on the bench fór the Carling Cup games, he has to prove something to.
Why Watt is not in Pireaus is also a big question mark for me, cause Wenger said he is big admirer of Watt.
I hope to see Ayling tonight.

    J. Sanderson – Is there any talk of us going back in for Adem Ljajic after Man Utd declined to sign him? There have been varying reports that he wasn’t signed due to his lack of progress or that he was having trouble obtaining a work permit. I know on November 9, 2008 there was a report on Young Guns about Arsenal being after him, but it had seemed as though we were beaten out. Now that he’s no longer going Manure, are we still interested?

wengers wont put little jack in the hands of anyone
He has a great relationship with steve bruce so maybe he will link up with him
Or a local loan like watford or in london like qpr so its not too much pressure on him and wenger can keep an eye on him

we played very well. song was majestic and ramsey showed genius.
sly old wenger told wilshere to bring down 2 notches to keep enquiries minimal. walcott needs roughly 3 more games to get into groove. and tom cruise ran a bit like winterburn.
