Galindo Still On Trial + Money Off Arsenal Gear

Bolivian midfielder Samuel Galindo remains on trial with Arsenal as the Gunners are still undecided on whether to offer him a contract following allegations over irregularities with age.

Young Guns covered the story last week which was run by El Deportivo TV who published copies of both a passport and trial documentation from Samuel. The two articles were apparently signed by the midfielder who gave his year of birth as 1989, making him 20-years-old not 17 as is common knowledge. The news agency alleges that the Bolivian Football Association allowed Galindo to register as an Under 17 for the recent South American Youth Championships.

This news broke after the left-footed maestro was reported to have signed for Arsenal after a trial with Everton. This was proved to be false but Arsène Wenger did suggest they were close to bringing him in and that he would be sent out on loan. An application for a FIFA Special Talent work permit looks out of the question and as the club look into the reports, Samuel is training on his own at London Colney.

The Bolivia Under 20 captain is still on the radar of a handful of European clubs including Fiorentina who claimed to have signed him earlier in the year.

With 2010 almost a month old and with many facing the crunch after the Christmas and January sales periods, Young Guns is here to help. We’ve teamed up with our good friends at SoccerPro to offer 10% of anything in their Arsenal range. From offical home jerseys to training tops and jackets, you can use this exclusive voucher to get a discount.

Just enter the code “Young Guns” on the Shopping Cart before progressing to the checkout. This is valid all the way to the 15th of February 2010. It can only be used on Arsenal related goods, however.

Ive been put off the idea of Galindo now. If he really is 20, and he blatently is, then surely he isnt worth the gamble unless exceptionally good considering we’ll have to wait for him to appear in an arsenal top?

J, I’m a fan of you site but have noticed you seem to be pre-occupied at the moment. You published a report for the Southampton match that’s yet to happen and now you’ve had to correct the dates of this offer. Your standards are normally very good which highlights all the more that fact you seem not fully on the ball. I hope you re-find you groove soon, mate.

I don’t feel out of the groove mate. It was a simple mistake with the date, people seem more bothered about me getting the month slightly wrong than the fact I’ve worked hard to get them a discount on Arsenal stuff. There’s no pleasing some people.

J – I have been coming onto your site for a year or so now and as with some of the others it appears that people just want to get on these blogs to either slag you or off or each other. People go so far off topic, dragging racism, anti-racism, and all sorts into Football that i really do not know why you bother. Nearly every time someone posts an opinion the responses simply turn into verbal onslaughts. What is a matter with people. Football is a sport with a slant on entertainment, surely if you are no longer enjoying the sport or do not feel entertained you should consider a change rather than making verbal onslaughts. I am sure that 99% of the people making these verbal attacks, would not dare be so brave face-to-face. So with that my last response and my last read, gonna leave blogging to the kids as that is obviously what it is for. Shame even if it aint 100% accurate you do a good job as do some of the others. Even the club aren’t 100% spot on, and definitely not up front with the truth, so how can anyone expect you blog writers to be.

How is he still on trial, even though Wenger said he would send him out on loan? and then this was mentioned on the Arsenal website:

    http://www.arsenal.com/usa/news/features/the-week-that-was

“Of the confirmed moves, Arsenal has made two signings: former Gunner Sol Campbell officially returned to the Club last week and 17-year-old Bolivian midfielder Samuel Galindo also agreed to terms. Campbell spoke to ATVO about the deal and how it happened. And much like Carlos Vela, Wenger plans to send Galindo out abroad on loan before he makes his debut in an Arsenal shirt.”

I know you will ignore this, or delete my comment… but surely this is as official as it gets?

@OdiO, he deleted my comments a lot… particularly around the Luis Gil story… when he stated Gil played a game for the Arsenal u16s (and scored a goal), even though Gil was in the USA for the US u17 team, and played that same day

I read his blog a lot, and he has a lot of good tidbits, but he has shown that he is not the most credible either… this weekend has kind of proven it with the Southampton/Arsenal game…

Your constant moaning about the deleting of comments is boring now. How come it only seems to happen to you?

That link doesn’t say Galindo has signed. It says he’s agreed terms, which is true. He did agree terms on a contract but nothing has been signed. He’s still on trial and trained on his own all last week.

so did you or did you not delete those comments? thats something you didnt deny… You said he played and scored in a u16 match for Arsenal, when he clearly did not…

and like it was pointed earlier, you also said Galindo had signed, and are now backing out of that story… you also said, several times in the comments, that we were not going to sign Wellington Silva, we did…

with this Galindo story, have you noticed that no other site has ran with this story… no UK news section… even the most anti Arsenal ones… every single UK press item has called it a hoax, yet you are still running with it… and you also have not linked to the UK articles that are calling this fake passport story a hoax… why?

like I said, you do a great job for the most part… but you do not seem to take criticism well, and lately have seemed to be phoning it in…

Heem I don’t know why you keep bringing this up. I delete your comments when they’re stupid or trying to cause trouble like you are now.

The Gil thing was cleared up aged ago, when you posted under a different username. I don’t think you really read stuff do you? didn’t say Galindo had signed, I said he was about to sign.

Arseblog and numerous other sites said Wellington had signed in the summer when infact he had not. But I don’t see you going and bitching to Arseblogger do you?

The English press are known to print rubbish so why would they follow this up anyway? Anyway I don’t feel like I have to justify myself to you.

I respect your comments, but in future if you wish to give feedback then e-mail me. Then you help provide a better quality service by not taking away from the article.

I don’t come down on either side of whole blog war thing. I’m a fan of aggregation when it comes to the mass of Arsenal sites – I like to read a bit of gossip here, an interesting piece there etc.

But one thing you have to remember is that J does this stuff for free, and he’s doing it slap bang in the middle of a recession. Expecting the highest journalistic standards is unrealistic. Just like it’s naive to think that a person wouldn’t never want some kind of financial reward after ploughing away at a blog for a few years. With that in mind, and considering his age, I’d say he’s doing a great job.

The only thing that bothers me is when people use the comments section as a platform to spout their misguided armchair opinions on Arsenal players who have barely started their careers. But I think I’m not the only one to get annoyed by that.

Another thing is all these people bitching about these technicalities. Screw off and make your own blog. I was in the dark about the youth and reserves before I caught wind of this site. We, the fans are fortunate to have this site, and the work that is being done by Mr. Sanderson and his team is fantastic. J – Just don’t bother replying to those who criticise your blog. But keep publishing their comments all the same. It shows you have inner strength and conviction in what you write. And so you should.

That’s why all the best magazines and newspapers in the world are happy to publish critical letters. They are confident enough to demonstrate balance.

BTW Havard Nordvteit i wonder whats going to happen with him the bundesliga will help him but i think a loan spell to the championship would really toughen him up and make him alot stronger and ready for the premiership next season

the mirror say that Arsenal had all Galindo paperwork checked out and it is real, he is 17, it was also reported that after the EDU problems Arsenal get all documents of their foreign players checked out by home office, and that was how the sylvinho problems came to light and also why no action was taken against Arsenal, as it was them who encouraged the home office to take a second look to make sure. Also on Galindo did not all players at the World U17 championships not get tested, some sort of mri scan, that proves age, it was reported this was done after FIFA found overage players in one of the african sides(13 of the squad).
Just one last thing on Galindo’s age, does any Gooner think that the english media would not be all over this story if he was an age cheat

@Eduardo, that is all I am saying

the English press have not touched this story… Even after the reports, the club ran the story about Galindo joining on the site… And what I mentioned earlier, J has not reported the English based articles… Only the stuff from Bolivia, which is way worse than the UK press (they ran a news story claiming to have film of Air France crashing in Brazil, even though it was clips of the TV show Lost)… Why are you only covering the Bolivian media part of the story?

And no, I don’t write for any other blog… The only bias I have is for Arsenal…

I want this blog to be great, and it is for the most part but you need to realize when you have messed up, and you need to look at two sides of a story instead of running with one angle that seems to be 100% dubious at best

He barely looks 15 never mind 20. I also read somewhere that the Bolivian TV thing may have been a spoof.

as an aside I not that Man U have sent Tosic out to cologne. Supposedly piad 16.3m for him and Lallic (i.e. more than ourtransfer record). So no wonder if they have outbid us on Smalling
