Loanees – Randall Assist As Szczęsny Ends Loan

Welcome to this weekends Loanees Watch – Young Guns’ analysis, reports and updates on the progress of the young starlets currently plying their trade away from the Emirates Stadium. You can read all the latest reports below.

In the Championship, Jay Simpson was left on the substitutes bench as managerless Queens Park Rangers drew 2-2 with Blackpool. The pacy striker is being courted by several Championship clubs who are keen on a full-time deal. Former Arsenal defender Matthew Connolly scored the equalizer for the R’s. Loanee Rating – 0.

Henri Lansbury played the full 90 minutes for Watford in a 2-1 defeat to Doncaster. Lansbury turned in a typically bullish shift and had one great chance to score in the first half only to curl it straight into the palms of Neil Sullivan. Henri was also booked for a poor tackle. Loanee Rating – 6.

Kerrea Gilbert went straight into the Peterborough United side and played 90 minutes in a 3-0 defeat to Derby County. United had two defenders sent off before half time meaning Kerrea faced a baptism of fire. He turned in an excellent shift at right back, though. He made several good blocks and clearances but Derby were rampant. Loanee Rating – 6.

In League One, Mark Randall made his debut as a substitute in a comprehensive win for MK Dons against Hartlepool. Mark entered the game when it was already over as a contest, but he went on to make a goal as the Dons ran out 5-0 winners. The classy prospect looks set to start the next fixture. Loanee Rating – 7.

Wojciech Szczesny returned from injury to play the 90 minutes for Brentford in a 3-1 win against Carlisle. Although Ian Harte beat the Polish prospect from the penalty spot, Wojciech made a selection of fantastic saves to ensure the win. Loanee Rating – 7.

Elsewhere, Pedro Botelho was a substitute for Celta Vigo as they lost 1-0 to Real Sociedad. Botelho came on in the left wing position, an area where he had success earlier in the week, winning a penalty in a surprise 1-0 win over Villareal is the Copa Del Rey. Loanee Rating – 4.

Havard Nordtveit played 65 minutes for Nuremberg as they returned from the winter break with an away game at Schalke. Nordtveit featured at right back but was pulled off following Kevin Kuranyi’s strike which proved to be the winner. Loanee Rating – 5.

I think Nordtveit scored an own goal. I only saw bits of the game, and the goal Schalke scored was an own goal, thought it was Kuranyi’s but replays showed it went off a defender’s leg and I believe it was Nordtveit, the commentator said it was him. Player number 2. Didn’t watch much because when I found the channel, Arsenal was about to start.

With Gilbert going out on loan, we only have Eboue as a cover at right back. I wonder what is in AW’s mind? Is he going to sign another young right back or is he just clearing the way for some youngsters to step up. If he wanna give some youngster a chance, who’s the lucky youngster? Coz I don’t see anyone at our youth level showing some quality at right back aside from Eastmond (There is no way he is goin to play Eastmond at RB, coz IMO he sees Eastmond as our CM cover). Is he goin to play Qoquelin at RB? What do u guys think?

Yah it would be very ineresting is Sagna did pick up and injury because with Eboue gone, the isnt even another true right back at the club. Of course, Eastmond and Coquelin would be the young guys that could play it. A left back could play it or gallas. Lets just hope an injury doesnt happen.

Gilbert has joined Peterborough with the option to sign if they’re happy with him.

Ramsey, Coquelin and Lansbury can all play right back, plus Gavin Hoyte. So I think we’ve got lots of options. No video of Szczesny at the moment, I’ll post one if I can find one.

Since lansbury & hoyte are on loan, I suppose Coquelin is the one who will be benefited by Gilbert’s loan move as it will increase his chance to play for the 1st team..

Goalkeepers are on a completely different growth pattern tho then any other position. He should keep playing loan ball until he is completely ready but until then, I think we definetly need to sign a ready made keeper. To think if we had a shay given, how much better we would be. Good keepers affect alot about a team and anyone that has ever played football would tell you that. Defenders have more confidence plus there is nothing worse then playing your hardest and out playing a team only for your goal ie give up a crap goal.

I would really like to see Eastmond go out on loan and learn his trade now. I don’t think he’s ready to be involved in the first team on a consistent basis and i don’t think that he’s an exceptional enough talent to be able to make that step straight up from the reserves. Even Wilshere needs a loan spell and he’s the most talented kid in the reserves. I see glimpses of good things from Eastmond though. Now he needs to prove himself.
