In the Premier League – Jack Wilshere played 78 minutes on his Bolton Wanderers debut at the City of Manchester Stadium. He started on the left wing and was Bolton’s most notable player as they were beaten 2-0. Jack showed several great touches and made a great chance for Fabrice Muamba in the first-half, chasing a lost ball into the corner before volleying it back into the path of the former Gunner.
In the Championship - Kerrea Gilbert played the second half in a defeat for Peterborough while Henri Lansbury played 83 minutes on the right hand side of midfield for Watford. Kyle Bartley went straight into the Sheffield United team and played 90 minutes for them in a 2-1 defeat. He picked up a yellow card late on but otherwise performed well.
After holding show down talks with Queens Park Rangers boss Mick Harford, Jay Simpson was restored to the R’s team and he scored in the 66th minute in a 2-1 defeat to Ipswich Town. Simpson played the 90 minutes and turned in a performance which validated his frustration at being dropped last weekend.
In the Johnson’s Paint Trophy – Mark Randall scored for Milton Keynes Dons and played 57 minutes as they failed to reach the final. A 4-1 aggregate defeat to Southampton did the damage but Randall did score in the 3-1 loss tonight, bagging a right footed strike just before half time.
Gavin Hoyte did not get off the Brighton bench this evening. Yesterday Sanchez Watt played the 90 minutes on his Southend debut, impressing on the left wing.

Perfect answer to the speculation by Simpson! He showed his character before in League one, this guy has done the hard way before, and once again he proves his character and work ethics. Whether it works out for him or not at Arsenal is speculation, but he has surely proved his work ethics and character.

I wonder if Coyle will have the balls to play Jack in the middle of the park a few times!:D lol. He has the skill and vision. The only risk that might be involved would be the physicality that comes with being in the middle. I’m just wondering because Wenger had mentioned that he might end up playing in the middle. Although he has all the skills needed out wide. He might not have blistering pace, but he can play like Rosicky out there kind of. I’m just happy that he played really well and he got the opportunity to show his skills. I really admire what Jay Simpson has done, and at least privately a lot of Gooners are pulling for him to somehow make it back to Arsenal and at least get a chance. I know I am. He might not be what one would consider “top class” but for me his work ethic and desire is. And you can never have enough of that in and around a team.
Wilshere did! start in the middle in the Man City game but Coyle moved him out to the Left after just 10mins as he was struggling to get a touch of the ball. I think he can only expect to be a wide player in the EPL for the next couple of years until he gains some experience & develops physically.

Stu – Although i agree with what you say, i’d like to point out that JW hardly got a touch of the ball in the first ten mins or so whilst playing through the middle because Bolton have old bad habits and play the long ball game still. The ball just kept getting pumped over his head and the loose balls weren’t falling his way.
Good to see Kyle Bartley starting at Sheffield United. We have so many players on loan that our reserves are decimated, but for the right reasons. It’s a good thing that we have so many quality players coming through. In fact our loanees would make a decent championship team. The youth project is definitely working, unlike what is suggested on Le Groove! As for Jay Simpson I believe that Wenger should have called him back to help in our striking crisis, particularly as he didn’t buy anyone. Jay may not be a world class striker yet but with the supply of our first team’s midfield he would definitely have scored on Saturday!
like sebjob said earlier whether jay makes it at arsenal or not is just pure speculation at the moment but i sincerely hope the lad gets his chance to. i think he has done more than enough during this loan to warrant a first team chance at least.

Jack Wilshire looks like a young Iniesta to me. By the way, the only reason Jack didnt vreate a whole lot was because Bolton rarely had the ball and at wing he was getting it way to deep. Jacks best spot would be behind the striker.
Our reserves don’t need to win the league. We need our youngsters to cut their teeth in real competitions. Let the reserves be a stop-gap for players coming back from injury and those past 18 but not on-load to get their game up.
I am glad to hear about so many getting snapped up to short term spells with English sides as well.
So how was Watt? Did he played well?
Good to see Jay grabbing a goal; I like Jay as a player and I suspect he would score plenty of goals for Arsenal given the chaces they create. He is uncomplicated as a player but that is not a bad thing, he does everything needed to fit into the side and more importantly he would score more goals and hold the ball up better than AA. I hope he gets the chance.

Saw the final 45 of the Bolton game and i have to agree with you guys, Wilshere looked very lively, very fun to see.
so how did Bolton play. Was Davies a lone striker with Wilshere and the Lee on the flanks? or did they play 4-4-2 with Jack on the left side of midfield?

Good reports, looks promising for several of ‘em. Am torn over Simpson – I still doubt that he can make it at the very top of European football, but it’s impossible not to like and respect the boy. Perhaps he really should have been recalled and given a shot in the 1st team.
Jack did well, as mentioned some neat touches and some good ideas, but it didn’t help his cause that he had to try to cover an impressive Johnson (who would probably give quicker players than Jack a skinning). I would just love to see him in the ‘hole’ for a few games..

Coquelin future Arsenal right back? I feel sorry for Fran Merida he should be on loan not playing for the reserves hes far too good for them.
Stone….They played a 4-4-2 with Muamba and Cohen in the middle, Wilshere on the left, chu young on the right and elmander and Davies up top.
I think Merida will go. I am pretty sure he will go. But lansbury and JET seems special. and more down the academy is coming through.
