Loanees – Sunu Scores First Professional Goal For Derby

Welcome to this special midweek Loanees Watch – Young Guns’ analysis, reports and updates on the progress of the young starlets currently plying their trade away from the Emirates Stadium. You can read all the latest reports below.

In The Premier League…

Jack Wilshere racked up another 90 minutes and continued his run in the Bolton Wanderers side for their trip to Sunderland. In a game of little luck for Bolton, they were routed 4-0 but SkySports pundit Paul Merson admitted that Wilshere was the best Trotters player on the pitch.

In The Championship…

Gilles Sunu played 76 minutes and scored his first professional goal for Derby County away to Reading. The Rams had an awful start. After going 1-0 down to Long’s goal, goalkeeper Stephen Bywater went off injured but there was some joy when Sunu equalised after lashing home inside the left post. Reading re-took the lead but sub ‘keeper Deeney was then sent off meaning Robbie Savage went between the sticks.

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas played the full game for Doncaster Rovers in 1-1 draw away to Preston North End. Again playing just off striker Billy Sharp, Jay was involved briefly in a selection of attacks but didn’t look like scoring in what proved to be a bore draw.

Jay Simpson played 84 minutes for Queens Park Rangers but didn’t add to his sizable goal tally for the season. Continuing in his penalty box poaching role, Simpson had two chances to score, one in either half, but he tired towards the end.

Henri Lansbury was subbed off in second half stoppage time having played the whole game for Watford against Swansea. The struggling Hornets slipped to a 1-0 defeat with Henri playing in the number 10 role behind the striker.

In League One…

Mark Randall racked up 84 minutes for MK Dons in their 2-1 win over Swindon. Having chipped the ball over the back four for the Dons’ winner at the weekend, Mark turned in another decent shift in the centre of midfield for Paul Ince’s improving outfit.

I saw the second half. He loses the ball and did some poor passes a bit too many times but his positioning and runnings was great. He has great close control with the ball and do great long balls. Vision was also very good. I didn’t saw a 17 year old playing, I saw a great player in the makings. Fluminese was poorer than I thought and the opposition was also not too great. I think the level of the league might be to low for him. He might needs to go to Dutch, German or spannish second league. Or anywhere where they play fast passing forward, but the opposition needs to be good defending too. Considering he’s only 17 year old it was quite good. I only saw 15-20 min or so though, however he did reminds me alot of Iniesta.

Well i was listening to talksport and the moose was raving about Henri lansbury saying he was the best player on the park against swansea.

He seems to be playing well in a team who dont get the right results despite controlling games

The Moose is a clown, though. He’s the joke of talkSPORT and everybody knows it!

I think Henri is going through various ups and downs at Watford but that’s why he’s on loan, to get different experiences and to go through the different stages in a competitive season.

People there’s no reason to doubt this kid quality
He is quality for a simple resaon and that’s the amount of money we paid for him
He was a 16 year old, he was playing for his youth team an had only played 3-4 matches for his countries under 17 but we paid 3.4 million when have you see Wenger splash that kind of cash for a 16 year old.
Wenger will have scouted him for atleast a few months and decided there was no way that he can miss out on him so the quality is there lets see if he uses it the right way.

I have got my fingers crossed and I am hoping that we have a future world player of the year in him.
Although Fabregas should win it this year for the goals and assists he has created.

English players cost extra and Theo had already broken into the first team of Southampton and also in the england under -21
wellington is different he didn’t make a first team debut since Feb 2010 and the deal was already done by then but I get the point

Actually Theo hadn’t played for the U-21, he did that first in 2006, after the world cup.

YG or anyone who saw the derby game
How did Sunnu perform with Derby county and was he playing in the left wing?
    How would you rate him?I

I always keep thinking how can wenger fit all these players in the first team most of them are doing a great job for us

Wilshere has been the knight in shinning Armour for Bolton. He is their best player but a mile
Tech 9 has been awesome (simply awesome) with Brentford
Bartley has become the no.1 defender at Sheffield Wednesday
Sunnu is doing a great job for Derby County
JET is doing a great job for Doncasters Rovers
Lansbury is the most creative and probably their best player in Watford

But their are a few who have been disappointing
Hoyte has been disappointing in League One
Randall too has been either good or very very bad
Gilbert is already gone (will be released)
I had high hopes for Norvedit but he has really had a very bad season
Bothelo is already gone (will be released)

    Then Their is
Jay Simpson who for all account has done very well for QPR but I can’t see him getting a first team place.
Sanchezz Watt also has to prove that he can handle the physicality but maybe league one was little too much rough maybe a spell with Championship will show us if he can make it or not
Barazite also has to stay fit and maybe one more loan with a championship on an EPL team and he should get a place in the first team.
Coquelin will move straight into the first team but he will play in the reserves and league cups for a few years and really learn his trade in the RB position
Cruise will also probably have to go out on loan but I don’t think he will make it he has Clcihy, Gibbs and Traore in front of him.
Eastmond I think has already done enough to convince wenger that he can make but a loan spell in the championship and probably a few more muscles will make sure he doesn’t look out of place when he gets in the first team
Frimpong also needs to g out loan but can he make it or not will only be known after his loan spell but he will do the Denilson role.
Rhys Mruphy will probably be the next Saha. He is such a good striker but is so injury prone I can’t see him making it.

Fluminense played a lower level team in the early phase of the Brazilian Cup. So we can’t really say Brazil hasn’t got the defenses to challenge Wellington. The team Flu played is in the Serie C, and had a terrible season by the looks of the table (which I don’t quite understand as it’s broken down by groups). Anyway, it’s a bit like judging English defenses after watching Arsenal play Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup two years ago (when, as my son reminds me, Nasri and Bendtner scored – he may be wrong about that).

he’s also a wonder kid like most in arsenal.
I think he was the youngest player to feature in a FA cup something like 15 yrs and 200 something days but yeah I like the lad a lot.
He is a great finisher but is also a good passer of the ball ad he can play on the wings or as a target man. It will be hard for him to make the grade but him and Benik Afobe have a very good chance of making it.
A lot of our players look great in youth competition but its all depends on how they do in their loan spell which shows if they will make it or not.
And even if they prove it in their loan spell some of them still dont make it. ITS A SAD THING BUT TRUE its hard to make it in Arsenal
The player i am most interested is Zak Ansah, Miguel and especially OzzIe. They are my favorites in the youth team

From the current loaned players – Wilshere, Bartley and Tech 9 have proved they are absolutely going to make in the first team.

    A couple of questions-

Who is Tech 9? I’ve forgotten my lol arsenal youths nicknames. Chesney?

What is to be made of the Simpson to Celtic on loan rumours? It seems odd we aren’t putting him up for sale, as if Wenger really does think one day he’ll make it…?

Simpson is already 21 so even if he is doing pretty well he will be sold. Can anybody see him even get ahead of Watt and Sunu? I like the lad but he just isn’t good enough for the mighty Arsenal.
The one I have really gained new believe in this season is Kyle Bartley. I think he really has the chance of making it here if he stays free of injuries.

His father said the right thing he was wearing a united shirt so what. Cristiano Ronaldo used to wear the arsenal shirt that we gave him before signing for United
He didnt know he was coming to arsenal and United is a very popular kid world wide so as long as he gives his all for us than he can wear any shirt he wants

as soon he will arrive and playing at emirates I am sure he will be a fan of the Arsenal if he isnt already. All kids wearing different kits cause some looking good some not. Whats the fuss about it? J. any news on Merida? Sunu said himself he has signed an extension so I think it wont be made official until he gets a new long term contract which will be done after his loan spell I think. Hope Gallas stays but if not Djourou is his understudy already so I am not concerned at all.

So it is true what Zak Ansah said, why does he not F-OFF to Man U then, we have loads of young players as good as him if not better so get rid, i dont think his heard the saying, dont bite the hand that feeds you, If i was playing for Man U, out of respect for them for giving me the opportunity i would never disrespect them like that, this just show his character, we have another Cashley on our hands, what if we train him to become world class then he runs down his contact and leave for Man U, i wont be surprised

but I really dont think it was Zak Ansah who wrote all that, there are so many people who have created fake accounts in facebook and even if it was him and lets not get ahead of our ourselves
he’s a schoolboy right now who and who knows if he will make into the first team
But I am sure if he wrote something like that he wont have an arsenal career as long as wenger and bould are around or he has a dramatic change in his attitude.

But lets not worry about Ansah ?

    YG

I think Gallas is going to Roma and with SIlvestre and Sendros also leaving us in the summer
That will leave us with Campbell, Vermaelen and Johan Djourou.

Djourou and Vermaelen will form a better partnership than Gallas and Vermaelen so I am not worried about losing Gallas but we will lose a lot of our bench strength next season.
Any idea who we are going to bring in?

Stefan Savic will be one I am sure about that but we still need one more.
Do you guys think Wenger will give Bartley a chance or will Norvedit be brought into the first team?
Norvedit has been a real disappointing in Nurnmberg so do you guys still think he can make I have to say I haven’t seen enough to say if he’s good enough or not?
    Suggestions?

    • March 11, 2010 at 7:11 am
      Permalink

Any source linking us with Sakho? because Sakho is one for the future. Brilliant CB
but he will be really expenisve acquisition no less than 10 million
I hope we sign Carragher (dont get mad) if we sign Stefan Savic then we should go for experience not youth. and Carragher will be on a free and he does a good job when called upon
I dont think Wenger will keep Sol for next year he’s going to be 36 and SIlvestre would have signed an extension if he wanted to by now. Gallas has Roma sniffing around and wenger wont budge so Gallas will probably go to Roma. Sendros has already been ruled out
That leave us Johan Djourou and Vermaelen. We need some experience in this defense and someone like Carragher can really provide that (if gallas stays great) but Savic and Sakho are both very young and you need experience in defense and wenger knows this
so we will go for one youngster either Savic or Sakho or maybe Norvedit will make it into the first team and if Gallas, SIlvestre leave then Wenger will have to buy someone with experience and someone like Carragher is the ideal choice.

….uGGHHH!!!!… Can’t tell you how bugged I am by this Zak Ansah thing. I know he’s just a youngster and all, but WHAT…!!! You are lucky enough to play for the greatest football club on earth under the greatest youth academy on earth with the greatest facilities on earth, hopefully advancing to a first team witht the one of, if not the best, manager in the world, and play in one of, if not the best, stadiums in the world…and you go singing praise for the Mancs…? Our arch rivals…??? After we suffer a bitter defeat to them…???

I guess this is why they say youth is wasted on the young!!!!

I haven’t seen the kid play but I’ve read a lot of hype about him. I have to say it’s going to be hard for me to like this kid now. It’s like he’s a traitor in the ranks who doesn’t care about letting everyone know about it.

Only slack I’ll cut him is that he’s so young…but if he’s still posting this garbage on his website after he’s 18 and he’s still playing for us FUCK HIM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now…FINALLY…I get how so many Arsenal fans felt about Adebayor!!!

if this is his attitude, then he can fuck off and go to Spuds for all I care. It seems like a brittle boy who gives up with a little wind against him. Maybe he didn’t write it but I don’t see why somebody would make something like this up. If players start denying were they come from as soon as something goes against them then they are weak and will never make it in top flight football.

we may never know if he said that or not and if he did and he doesnt change his attitude then we cam make him a world class player and then sell him to a stupid club like City or Real and make a huge profit on him.
The best thing is that they leave world class player and then turn into very very ordinary player

    Milo,

Hadn’t heard a word about it until reading J.’s link above. It really pisses me off.

Pissing on the hand that feeds you is one of the worst things you can do in my book, as is betraying those who’ve got your back. 16 years old is still very young…kids at that age are closer to the behavior of 13 year olds than that of mature professional sportsmen. I’m trying hard to control my gut feelings and give him a chance. But your gut is your gut. If he’s not just being an immature child and his gut is actually that much in love with the Mancs then I don’t want him anywhere near our academy.

Sure, a lot of players support teams other than those that pay their wages, but Ansah’s brand of PUBLIC disloyalty could be toxic. The unity and love of the club that the academy fosters is almost as important as the exceptional style of ‘Arsenal football’ it teaches.

Someone needs to take that kid out to the shed and have a little talk with him…old school style!!!!
