Video – Randall Takes Part In MK Dons’ Cross Bar Challenge

Mark Randall has always been a player who divides opinion, but most agreed a loan move to League One Milton Keynes Dons was a good step for the promising midfielder. A poultry 13 appearances have been mixed with some excellent displays and some very average ones, but Mark remains a player Arsène Wenger values.

Randall was a part of the Arsenal first-team squad which took part in the French TV network Téléfoot’s cross-bar challenge in 2007. The series is also a regular on SkySports with various members of Premier and Football League squads taking part. Recently, MK Dons had their attempt which included an go from loan prospect Randall.

wenger ‘s quote from his press conference
We have gone for a policy of development of the team over a longer period. We have stood up for these young players so it is down to them to pay us back, stay together and show that we can be successful together.”

also someone asked about our GK situation

I think GK situation is very stupid in reality we have very very good young goalkeepers in Wzschseny and Mannone but very average players in Fabianski and Almunia.
If I was going to sign a goalkeeper then I would sign a players who is 27-28 and is a ready made first team player. ALmunia is 33 and has a year on his contract so put him as second choice and send Fabianski out on loan to a EPL or a championship side and then decide if he’s worth keeping from how he does in his loan spell
the problem with signing someone like Loris is that we alrady have good young goalkeepers what we need is a very good and an experienced keeper.
I would go for someone like Frey or Diego López from VIllareal who are 28-29 sign them on a 4 year contract and when Wzschseny or Mannone are ready they can take over.

I agree my question what is the status of the Brazilian Wellington Silva can he come into the first team next season? Also can we get going some solid names for the defense that might Arsene will be looking at? I like the two Per’s Metsacker/Koldrup?

why not sign lloris and sell him when chesney is ready? Lloris’ value would have gone up in such time by 26/27and we would have a replacement ready.

Simple because it’s not as easy as “signing Lloris”. Wenger doesn’t like doing deals with Lyon because he is only prepared to pay what a player is worth and Lyon always get a huge amount of cash from their deals. He wouldn’t be sold for less than £40 million and we simply don’t have that kind of money for one player.

YG too much estimation dude Lloris wont be more than 15 million

YG is right though on Lyon’s track record. How much was Essien, and only Chelsea could afford that (23million pounds when the pound was strong, lol)? Only Man City and Chelsea can throw that kind of money at Lloris, unless of course he really wants to come to arsenal but still, Lyon are dicks about transfers (good for their supporters, of course). Maybe Manure will come up with the dosh, I dunno.

I always rated Mark and wanted to see him playing in the first team, but with abundance we have in midfield it can be very difficult for him to get some minutes but as once Wenger said he is big talent but the one who develop later on so I’m waiting.

Well i think we got exactly £40M to cover all our buys this summer. Do the math people! How many top players you get for 40M? Certainly not those 4 or 5 players all the sofa managers want to buy.

As is stated before, this is not Footbal manager, this is not a game, these are real people and real money. 40M is what this club has. If we buy wrong or buy to expensive that could turn out to be more disastorus than not buying. There is not save button or restart butotn. There is no “second chance”. That i think is what alot of people fail to understand. If you buy a Berbatov you are stuck with him for 4 years. Nobody wanna take him off your hands and you have suddenly spent 30M in transfare fee and 10M in wages on a player that does not fit in.

Remember that next time you cry about buying all the Canas in the world. Surly you do not know anything about these players personalities, if they fit into the team, if they manage to fit into a new culture and all these things that you do nto have to think of in a computer game. But that is very real in the proper world.

Arsene will buy this year( he said last year he wanted to give this team a chance and buy if it did not work out). He will buy the right players, but probably not the ones the arsenal fans want!(they will realize later that he made the right choice and they in the end were happy he did not sign Lorik Cana and his likes).

Not just Berbatov, but Berbatov and Nani, too (4 goals this season for an attacking midfielder over $10 million, and crap the previous two seasons). Those two gobshites have arguably cost ManU the title. Those two players who cost a fortune for their positions didn’t step up. (They still might come good, mind, but it goes to show that even Manure at the top level can’t afford to carry big money passengers and win trophies.) At least Wiltord gave a decent return! Wenger will never spend silly money, but he may buy a dud or two. I guess when people say he should go get five players they assume he’s so good at buying in that he won’t make a mistake. But he does make mistakes, too. If Arshavin doesn’t pull his finger out next season he’ll unfortunately be Wenger’s biggest high profile, Veronesque mistake. And I am one of his biggest fans.

Randall missed! I guess that’s game over for him now…ARSENE ARE YOU LISTENING? you’ve got to get rid of this youth setup now!! and that includes Wilshere because he made a piss poor effort on SoccerAM the other week… it makes me sick to be an Arsenal supporter!!!!!

I cant believe we lost to Tottenham, we need to sign Messi, Ronaldo, Xavi, Iniesta, Rooney, Ferdinand and Jaaskellainen (because he hit the bar where Wilshere didn’t!!)… otherwise we wont qualify for champions league football next year….

Get rid of the youth setup where the hell do you think messi came from he came from barca youth setup and where do you think fabregas, wilshere came from they came from our youth setup what wenger needs to do and is doing is trying to do is find the right balance between young and experienced first team players

Transfer speculation time (but real world speculation)
    * first a transfer kitty is different from wages. every well run club has a wages budget and the players wenger will buy has to fit into that budget as profit expands so does the budget.
so if we have 30 million to spend that that means we have 30 million on transfer fees but the players yearly wages has to fit into the budget.
Wenger already knows what players he wants to go after but I am sure the world cup will show him some hidden talents that he doesn’t know about so it will be interesting who he signs

If I was asked who should we sign I would say
GK – 28/29 maybe even 30 years of age and send Fabianski out on loan to prove his worth and make Almunia second choice.
CB – IF gallas signs and Djourou gets fit then just one more and keep Sol on pay as you play basis
CM/DM – a player who can play in both these position someone like Melo or veleso I know melo is having a terrible season by his standards but if you look at where he plays for brazil then you will understand why wenger is so interested in getting him.

Our striking option is where we dont have to worry about
LW – Arshavin, Nasri, Rosicky, Silva, Vela (from Jan)
RW – Bendtner, Walcott, Eboue, Rosicky, Nasri, Van Persie
ST – Chamak, Van Persie, Bendtner, Eduardo, Vela

How was a loan move to a league 2 side a good move for his career? I didnt know a step backward was a good move. 2 years ago he was onloan at a championship club, 2 years later he has move down a division. Dont see the logic where he is improving.

This, for me is the hardest time of the year to follow european and in particular Arsenal football. With all the rumours, and counter rumours and fake crap flying around, I just wanna go run and hide under my blanket lol. Following the youth team tempers this to some degree, but there is still a lot of things swirling around. I don’t know who or what to believe right now!! I feel guilty about not being as enthusiastic a supporter as I usually am, but I can’t seem to be bothered to read every single article about our club right now. Only on this site do I read everything! I know this sounds weird but should i feel guilty?? lol. I mean the playoffs in the NHL have started, and I’m a bit of a baseball fan as well. I still love football the most, but it’s so hard to follow with all the hyperbole and rumours that return at this time of year, every year. I don’t know, it’s just really fustrating sometimes I guess. And Arsenal’s season will be over soon so they won’t even be playing. I guess I might just take a break from all the rumours and such this spring and summer:D

Wilshere picked up a yellow card in his match BUT he played the full 90 minutes. I would guess that would mean that he played well?? He didn’t pick up any goals or assists though, I know that much. I’ll say it again, He’s gotta stop with the unnecessary fouling. Everyone last time said “oh no he doesn’t” but I’m telling you he does, or else it’ll come back to hurt him and whichever team he plays for.

Jason ,i say many time before people have to stop dreaming about signing Lloris .French number one, young and play for Lyon .Except if Lyon go on financial meltdown really doubt) he will cost most or all our transfer budget.Only in your fantasy Wenger will spend big money on the GK,10M at most.

Last time i check Fiorentina have put reasonable minimum release fee on their player(not like in Spain with fee of 100M) to see how much their player want to play for them.Ii would like to know how much Frei is.Frei has one of the best in Italy for last few years and still young for a GK(29 i think) That would give Chesnay time to develop on loan.

I think it’s safe to say Wenger is after a GK this summer as he didn’t back Almunia when he was asked about the GK situation and even Almunia has now questioned his future. Quotes in The Sun and The Mirror.

I thought Eastmond did very well for being who he is. He played with more heart than alot of the 1st team players. After the match i felt Diaby, Nasri and Rosicky really has to prove they are worth the wages they are getting while i thought Eastmond proved he will be a valuable back up for the first team next year. He never stands out as one of the stars of the game but seemd solid to me.
