Sheffield Utd & Yeovil In Talks Over Bartley & Ayling Extensions

Kyle Bartley and Luke Ayling will meet with Arsène Wenger in pre-season to discuss their futures. The pair are both currently on loan, with Sheffield United and Yeovil Town respectively, and both outfits are keen to extend their temporary stays.

Bartley has been a shining light for the Blades while Ayling’s lack of game time was resolved with two run outs for a Yeovil XI in midweek. The duo were partners in the successful double winning Under 18 team of last year and many believe they have bright futures in the game. However, Wenger allowed them to seek the customary loan switch to further their development.

Kyle is back at Arsenal next week and could even feature in final game of the season against Fulham before Kevin Blackwell tries to wrap up a season-long-loan for next term. Luke’s future is a little unclear, though. Terry Skiverton wants him for a second spell, but Yeovil will enquire as to whether a permanent deal can be done.

The centre back position is one of much intrigue at Arsenal. Mikaël Silvestre is all but certain to leave and his place should be filled by the returning Håvard Nordtveit. Bartley revealed to the Sheffield media that Wenger has already ruled out a chance to play in the Premier League so a second loan is certain for him.

A busy summer is on the cards for the collection of youngster all seeking match time.

Do you think Arsenal would sell Luke Ayling?

He has to stay, bartley is more suited to the premier league than Nordvteit but we will see if he has improved physically or not

Norvedit started the match today as a CB and Hamburg are currently beating them 4-0
I will hopefullly get my hand on the full match video and see how good norvedit was playing against a top quality team
bartley is a PL defender no doubt about that but Ayling is not really preimership quality in my view maybe championship so if Wenger sells him to Yeovil then no harm done in my view but I think a loan spell will suit ayling better and then a loan to a championship side.

The defenders who have a very good chance of making it are Miquel and Bartley
Angha and Sead will have to prove their worth in the under 18s next year

4-0 down wow The last game Nurenberg lost to Borussia dortmund heard Nordvteit had an awful game.

Gosh its not good but it could also be good experience for him.

Luke Ayling championship defender lmao. Have you seen him play hes an inteligent centre half.

Centre halves in the championships league 1 are lumps in the premiership you have got be clever as a centre half hes got the ability he justs needs to physically bulk up. Steve bould rates him highly and he was a centre half

Yeovil have no chance of getting Ayling on permanent deal, his intelligence & organisation will be gracing far higher level, they are just a vehicle needed to be used for him to reach where he is going

Wilshere finished the game against tiny totts with a yellow card but he played alright in a team where nobody understands his moves mostly and when somebody does, (yes matt taylor, its you!) he fails to do anything (even fails at receiving). if Wilman gets another loan spell, I would prefer Fulham given that Hodgson stays

Wilshere was the best player going forward for Bolton
The way he runs with the ball and then provides the killer pass is brilliant and I think he missed two passes in the entire game which is again brilliant for a 18 year old
I hoped he will become a player like Xavi and controls the enitre games from the midfield but he looks more like Lampard or a Gerrad who go forward. Still Fabregas can be our Xavi hopefully for a long long time

Is there any news linking WEnger with Sedar Tasci he’s one of my favourite defenders and he knows how to take a player like Drogba or Rooney out.

Not sure why peopole are writing off Ayling after he hasn’t had much games this sesaon. He has a lot of potential. If you are going to give a player like Nordveteit a shot, then Ayling should be given the same treatment. Though next season he will have to be sent to a suitible team on loan where he will be guaranteed playing time, not on the bench. In the loan there should be a recall clause just in case he does end up sitting on the bench,

Ayling was the one Steve Claridge was the most impressed with when he watched Arsenal in the Youth Cup last season and did a report on, not any of the other defenders. I would just give him a little more time to develop. Last year there were lots of people on the blogs asking for Eastmond to be let go.

Ayling will have to earn a first team place no manager can gurrantee it. If he has better players in front of him then he wont play.

When you watch Luke Ayling you can tell the guy has got class even in the pre season games he even outshoned Vermaelen in the Barnet game. Hes reads play very well.

Problem is at Arsenal for young centre halves is patience you have to wait your not going to break through at 18 especially when your competing for the premiership and champions league.

Jack wilshere should have went to Wigan he suits theier game perfectly. Bolton are too direct and thier defenders dont like to pass the ball to midfield.

i think it is a good thing he went to bolton, the kid is working so hard off the ball it’s shocking.. he went there to further his education and get more experience and he’s running a lot to position himself for the ball as his current team mates are not as talented as those he’s been used to at arsenal and that can only be good.. the fact that weiss and taylor are not getting as much playing time as jack tells me that, that kid is a force to be reckon with in a years time….for crying out loud he was bullying john terry and alex in the match against terry, how many arsenal players can you say that about this year?

I couldnt stop laughing I downloaded the entire match and love to play it back when I need some cheering up
He is no doubt the most talented midfielder on the planet for his age group but he’s very one footed isnt he?

Ayling is going nowhere! He will be loan out and thats it. He will stay and become an Arsenal player in the future. He is for sure one of the best young CB right now. and Wenger knows this.

I am starting to get pissed off with the England youth selections.

Just seen the england under 19 squad guess what 1 arsenal player is in there thomas cruise.

Its a joke. Its even a bigger joke England havent called up Conor Henderson how the hell have they let Ireland take him on. He could be a brilliant player for England

Maybe he wants to represent Ireland? Though I agree players like Watt, Deacon, Bartley, Ayling should be in. Have no idea what Bostock has done to be included.

I think Bartley should atleast be in the under 19 if not the under 21s and Watt as well. Ayling should be playing for the under 19s he more talented than any they right now.

Hi, Yeovil fan in peace after he signed for us Luke Said he would like a move to us if he doesn’t get offered a new deal at Arsenal our manager has added fuel to the fire by saying he’s seen enough of him that if it was available to sign him for next season whether on a loan or permanent deal.

You people really overrate Vermaelen. He’s not better than Toure in any standards. He’s small and should be a DMC. He makes mistakes that lead to conceding games regularly every 4-5 games. He looked really shaky against the top players like Rooney and Drogba. (sorry it’s off-topic)

He’s way better than Toure, who has looked shaky all season for Man City. How did Verm look shaky against Rooney and Drogba? Was he at fault for any of the goals they scored?

Vermalen was woted a place in the EPL team of the season – by the players themselves. Also with 8 goals to his name, he’s a hell of a season. Remember even the best players make mistakes. Toure was on his way down in my mind – selling him to the mony makers in Manchester was a very good solution!

I rate TV highly as a centre back, but yes he was at fault against chelski. He scored an own goal at the Emirates when marking Drogba & was no where when Drogba scored. Likewise at their ground Drogba went past him (and a few others unfortunately) on his way to scoring their 2nd goal.

And DOnt forget changing partners every game doesnt help him at all in his first season at the club
Vermaelen and Gallas partnership was the best CB partnership in the EPL its a shame Gallas got injured.

WTF Vermaelen is 24 hes come from Ajax playing as left back come to arsenal playing centre back and has been superb. You cant expect him to put in world class performances in every week.

Rooney vermaelen dealt with him fine, drogba yh of course but he always gives u troubles, Not one man is going to stop him.

Gosh ppl are so fickle these days

He’s an Under 15 at is at the same school as me. He played for the Under 15 ISFA (Independant schools national football team) as an under 14 and scored in every round of the cup (scored 8 in 6 games), and was awarded player of the year. He’s playing for England U16s in this year’s victory shield as an Under 15 which is a great achievement. He’s basically scoring hat-tricks or more in every school game for his year group. He’s definately one to look out for.

I agree Vermaelen is a bit overated, but that’s only because some fans just go a bit crazy when they see a shiny new £10m player impress. He’s still shown great promise. He is certainly far better than Toure was by the time we sold him – as mentioned, that malaria really took something from his game. Vermaelen does make a few rash decisions, but so generally he looks very sound. As for him vs Chelsea and Man U, he didn’t have great games, but to be honest did anyone? The whole team defended badly, and left him very exposed to Drogba, it was always going to be problematic. To be honest, I would rather have seen Campbell in that game (I know he hadn’t signed yet). Someone who’s faced top strikers before and shows them no respect. Tommy will reach those hights before to long though, I’m sure of that.

having watched bartley at sheffiled for a while now, i would be sad to see him not get a chance next year, not in the first team but i would rather he was around the first team.
he’s young, energetic with ability and we have to at aosme point take some risks with these kids or risk a few more merida situations..
we can’t keep going on about every phil jones and smallings that pop up somewhere on the scene while we have kids we same if not better ability. i hope wenger keeps bartley and szcezny around the emirates..just imagine the same team that played against wigan and tell me we would have lost with szcezny in the post and bartley partnering sol…
    food for thought..

Stevee i think if you watch the arsenal vs man utd games Vermaelen had rooney in his pocket. Problem we have had is we make too many individual mistakes.

Against chelsea yh drogba had the better in the first game at the emirates not at Stmaford bridge he dealt with him comfortably.

EVERY TEAM WE PLAY MAN UTD, CHESLEA WE LOOK VULNERABLE DEFENSIVELY BECAUSE WE DONT KNOW HOW TO DEFEND OUR CENTRE HALVES GET EXPOSED ALOT CAUSE OF A LACK OF PROTECTION AND OUR FULL BACKS GET EXPOSED AS WELL. WE DONT HAVE WINGERS DIRECT ENOUGH TO CAUSE THOSE TEAMS PROBLEMS. WE DIDNT LOOK DANGEROUS AT ALL IN WIDE AREAS. WE CAN ONLY PLAY THROUGH THE MIDDLE. WHICH IS WHY I ALWAYS SAY WE NEED WINGERS WHO CAN DRIBBLE PAST PLAYERS WE DONT HAVE ANY WORLD CLASS ONES YOU NEED AT BIG CLKUBS
