Freeman Mulls Over QPR & Yeovil Loan Offers

Luke Freeman has received offers from both Queens Park Rangers and Yeovil Town after Arsène Wenger granted the striker permission to leave on loan. The decision came after Freeman instigated a meet with the manager as he plots his route in first-team football.

After netting 17 goals across all competitions last season, Luke’s continued improvement is not going unnoticed. Since joining from Gillingham for £100,000 in January 2008, the forward has ridden some ups and downs and is now looking more and more a typical Arsenal player. Although used sparingly for the Reserves, the Datford born prospect did score against Chelsea in the closing stages of the campaign.

He turned 18 in March, and with Benik Afobe set to progress into the Reserves and be a regular next season, Luke is keen to stay ahead of the game. League One Yeovil have approached the Gunners with the offer of a loan, with the clause that the striker would be a regular and first-choice. The player himself favours staying in London with QPR, though, but match time would be more uncertain.

Town boss Terry Skiverton is keen to build a strong working relationship with Liam Brady, with a positive start coming with the loan of Luke Ayling for the final months of last season. Ayling has now made the move permanent after his contract expired.

A deal is expected to be concluded shortly, with both interested club’s keen for a deal to be done quickly ahead of pre-season.

i say send him to yeovil. Doubt he’d get much playing time at qpr. Lets see 6months at yeovil see how he does.

      —————-

No, the last player we sent there was ALLOWED to leave – it’s called care in the community. If you aren’t good enough for Arsenal, they least we do is find you a decent home.

Ayling now has the chance to impress at Yeovil, and work his way up.

Freeman should choose the team that guarantees him the most playing time, regardless of personal preference. That’s one of the things that being ambitious is about

hopefully simpson goes on loan again and shows more consistency and growth…i think he’ll be worthy of taking eduardo’s spot in the first team in a year or two, maybe. eduardo’s not doing anything with it really.

Because the playing time he gets will be important if he ever needs 2nd loan, Yeovil is a better offer.

Hey J, “Derrick wants to know what you think will happen to Nacer Barazite?? I’m kinda wondering myself to be honest. I don’t know whether this loan for Luke would be a good thing or not. “John” might be crushed….OOPS!! hahahaha. Is it a good thing?? I’m leaning towards no:(

why do you think it will be a bad thing? He could use the playing time and if he fails to impress he can come back here after 6months and go back to the reserves to build up his confidence again.

Yeovil would be good IMO. Its out in the sticks meaning you can focus on your footy and not get distracted by the bright lights of nodnol.

Yeah, I guess it’s not a bad thing at all. If he impresses he can move up a level next year, or play with the reserves.

It will be a bad thing if he can’t cope with the physical nature of league one… then all of a sudden he could see himself fade out of the picture (Lupoli anyone?). He’s a pass and move player. I must say it’s a risk. Many players in his situation would use this season as an opportunity to get some Carling cup minutes. Could go either way….

Freeman needs to go to a side that plays football.

    Are yeovil a footballing side?

I personally think league 1 is what he needs he needs to learn the physical side cause for me technically hes brilliant. He should follow the Henri lanbsury route go league 1 then go championship slowly progress. Hes a super talent.

Speaking as a Yeovil STH (you might say I’m biased) but we are definitely a footballing side. The Spuds sent four players to us on loan over the past eighteen months – we bought one (Hutchins) after his loan and the other three are Caulker, Mason and Obika. Caulker won every POTY award going, Mason was a major force in the first 6 months and Obika was prolific with us.

Obviously I’d say we were a good option and I don’t know QPR so well but have nbo fear, he’ll develop well with us.

    Best regards
    RR

Rich russell cool i still cant believe you lot have got Luke Ayling i think hes a terrific defender but needs to bulk up. When he does hes going to be some defender.

Matthew Connolly is another one really good defender but lightweight and now at QPR hes starting to show some real form and he has bulked up alot i wouldnt be suprised to see him in the premiership soon

GO TO QPR better competition for places and a tougher league to prove yourself in
If he goes to league one then he will have to go to championship side next year and then maybe into a top championship or a PL side and then Arsenal side
Let him prove himseld at QPR and if he does well then a PL or a top championship loan will a good step up

I’d choose qpr. Right into the deep end. Like JET and Bartley. To make it at Arsenal you’ve got to have that little extra ability. Freeman was supposed to be the next big thing. Players like Rodwell and Ramsey are already in the epl at his age. Not to mention Jack or even Walcott. To ask him to go to league one is to doubt his ability. If he can’t hack it at 18 in the championship I doubt he’ll make it at Arsenal. Note that the competition is becoming intense. Only the very best will make it here!

we made it in the first team of gillingham at the age of 15 so why would you go to league one at the age of 18
move up to championship side and prove youself there and then he will come into consideration of a top championship side or even a PL side
going from league one to championship and then top championship or PL is too long and a lot of players have destroyed their career at league one like Randall who I thought will be great there

this is an uncertain summer for a lot of our youngsters here’s what I think will happen this summer

Szchesny – GIven a chance in pre season and if he takes it then brought into first team football to rival Almunia and Fabianski
    Mannone – Loaned out

    RB
Hoyte – Loaned to a league one or championship club
    GIlbert – Released
    LB
Cruise – Loaned to a championship club
    Bothelo – Sold or Released
    CB
Norvedit – Brought into the first team or Sold

    DM
Eastmond – Brought into the first team
    Frimpong – Loaned
    Coquelin – Loaned
    CM
    Randall – Loaned
Lansbury – Kept in the team for 6 months until ramsey recovers from injury and then Loaned to a PL or top championship side
    Wilshere – Loaned
    Henderson – Loaned
    Winger
Barazite – Loaned or Brought into the first team

It’s incredibly unlikely every single reserve will get loaned. I think we might see JET, Nordtveit and Lansbury in the first team squad though.

Yh Rhys Murphy is our best striker in our youth system when hes fits. Hes the most natural goal scorer and his hold up play is quite impressive. He really thought he would be in our first team by now shame injuries have killed him.

I remeber him scoring goals for fun in the under 18 scored a few hat tricks as well.
