Freeman To Meet With Yeovil After Rejecting QPR Loan

Luke Freeman is poised to meet Yeovil Town manager Terry Skiverton this week ahead of sealing a loan move to Huish Park. As revealed on Young Guns earlier this month, the striker has been granted the opportunity to leave Arsenal on loan in a bid for first-team football, and has subsequently chosen The Glovers over Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers.

Now 18, Freeman is wary of his development stalling with the large batch of strikers in the first-team and has requested a loan switch following a meeting with Arsène Wenger. Championship side Queens Park Rangers immediately moved in and offered Luke a deal, but League One Yeovil went a step further, promising a regular starting spot, albeit it in a lower division. With match minutes the key reason for leaving, Town was the obvious choice.

Former Arsenal defender Luke Ayling made the loan move to Huish Park last term, and although he has since made the arrangement a permanent one, a glowing recommendation to Freeman helped seal the deal. Skiverton is now set to meet the prospect, who bagged an impressive 17 goals across all competitions last season, to lay out his plans.

Wenger will have the final decision on the length of the loan, but the traditional one month ‘taster’ with the option for an extension until January is expected to be on the cards.

good job he didn’t choose QPR. simpson may have had an average season but he wasn’t helped by the club chopping and changing managers every 5 minutes. not a good environment for a young loanee.

Although if Simpson had broken sweat from time to time he might have saved some of the managers jobs. Total waste of space

looks like we’re set to have another 15+ players on loan again next season.

players nowadays are developing so early in terms of wanting 1st team football that at 18 you have loan someone out for around 3-4 yrs before they become 1st team quality at arsenal.

look at the likes of wilshere, JET, Lansbury and Eastmond! I expect all of them to e loaned out next year yet they are considered to be seriously hot prospects.

Sometimes having this tremendous youth system is a rod for your own back.

Not being funny but the majority of these never play for us!

I’m starting to wonder where exactly Wilshere will fit in! Atsome point he is going to want to be at a club as a permanent player. If we loan him out for a full season next year and still keep diaby, denilson, nasri, walcott, chamakh, arshavin, ramsey etc all of whom are deemed to be ahead of him in the pecking order how the heck is he ever meant to et in to our 1st team squad.

Good luck to Luke I personally never really thought he was going to bea top class prem striker but as long as he findshis level and enjoys a career in football then good

the best make through and that’s great for the first team
They also have top level experience before making it into the team

      And its reaping considerable rewards
      WIlshere
      Szchesny
      Aneke
these players are probably the best players for their age

& there are other great prospects
      Barazite
      Henderson
      Lansbury
      JET
      Barltey
      Coquelin
      Eastmond
      Freeman
      Afobe
      Murphy
      and so on
atleat 2-3 of these players will make it into the first team

Monty if Wilshere can’t compete against the aforementioned named he wouldn’t make at Arsenal. I actually believe that at 18 Wilshere is better than those players were at his age. And in this competitive world the players should have no fear. Who would have imagined that Barca would sacrifice Ronaldinho because of Messi. If wilshere is as good as I believe he is – I think he’ll be a phenomenon – I think some of the players you’ve mentioned will flee on their own volition.

Valid point Gunner17 but with Neil Warnock now installed and a change in directors I would have thought it would be a good place for youngsters now, Neil Warnock loves to give young players their chance

Warnock gave chances to young players at Crystal Palace and then before Sheffield United because he didn’t have any cash to buy to players. When United got into the Premier League, he didn’t give the youngsters so much of a chance and spent whatever cash he was given.

At QPR he knows he has to get them to the Premier League, he’s been given a huge budget to do so. So he’ll go for more experienced players now. Youngsters like Freeman would just be a back up.

I think he made the right choice.

Sanderson you may be right. But I’d always fancied Freeman as one of those 18 year olds who’d break into the EPL like his hero Michael Owen. But maybe today’s EPL is much more competitive than that of the late 1990’s.

Wilshere is playing in the PL at 18 isnt this what most youngsters should aspire to do,
In league one Freeman will play week in and week out but he will play against weak defender who would rather bash into you than defend.
I think QPR are a good side and yes he wont get be guaranted for the starting lineup at QPR but should he be fighting off competition to become a regular. If he thinks he wont get games at QPR then Arsenal it will be atleast ten times harder to get into Arsenal team.

Freeman will play in league one then championship and then hopefully PL and if he is successful in all those loan spells then maybe Arsenal

J any idea if we get any money from loan signings?

Competition for places is the best way to promote excellence. Jay Simpson, Jeremie Aladiere, Justin Hoyte, Senderos, and others were not good enough.

Wilshere, Ramsey, Gibbs, Bendtner and others have proven themselves good enough, despite competition from experienced first teamers.

Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Pedro, Busquets and others have forced their way into the first team despite big competition.

    Competition is very healthy.

What is it with everybody assuming QPR have a huge budget? They dont? There are loads of teams that have spents loads more than us over the last 2 years. We arent even willing to pay more than 750k for Ambrose who is a midfield player who scores 20+ goals a season!

Jay SImpson was a good player and was only at his best when Wayne Routledge played in the team with him because the two of them always looked up for each other. Wayne Routledge was one fo the best wingers in the division and without him Jay didnt do much.
