Loanees – Randall Debuts As Bartley Returns

Welcome to this weekends Loanees Watch – Young Guns’ analysis, reports and updates on the progress of the young starlets currently plying their trade away from the Emirates Stadium. You can read all the latest reports below.

Kyle Bartley returned to the Sheffield United starting lineup against Coventry. However, despite coming close to scoring late on, Kyle, who was wearing a protective mask, couldn’t keep a clean sheet as Coventry won 1-0.

Cedric Evina played 76 minutes for Oldham Athleltic as they beat Plymouth Argyle 4-2. Featuring at left back, Evina showed some promising signs that he is beginning to settle into life in League One.

Mark Randall started but only managed 21 minutes of his Rotherham United debut after receiving a nasty kick to the head in the opening minute. Randall was taken off a precaution but is expected to be fine to play next weekend.

Gavin Hoyte started and played the whole game at right back on his Lincoln City debut. Hoyte, who joined Lincoln on Friday, didn’t manage to keep a clean sheet, as City drew 2-2 with Wycombe Wanderers.

Sanchez Watt was not part of the Leeds United side that thrashed Scunthorpe United. Watt is still nursing an injury.

Vito Mannone was an unused substitute for Hull City who drew 1-1 with Barnsley in a Yorkshire derby.

Luke Freeman was an unused substitute for Yeovil Town who drew 3-3 with Swindon.

Francis Coquelin came off the bench to play the final 21 minutes against Arles-Avignon.

Armand Traore was not part of the Juventus side that beat AC Milan 2-1.

Nacer Barazite played the final 23 minutes for Vitesse as they drew 0-0 with his former side NEC Nijmegen in the Arnhem derby. Barazite came on as a striker in the closing stages.

Pedro Botelho completed the whole game at left back for FC Cartagena, but he had one of his poorer games as Villarreal B cruised to a 2-0 win.

Samuel Galindo was an unused substitute for Salamanca as they lost 1-0 to Real Valladolid.

Only Bartley has any chance of starting in the future from this lot.

Haven’t seen Galindo or Pedro play at all so I wouldn’t include them in that statement.

I’m a big fan of Coquelin but I don’t see where he fits into our plans. Maybe a future right-back but not enough room in midfield.

There’s a lot of ‘sub’ and ‘unused sub’ because alot of these guys aren’t very good.

Coquelin clearly has a place if he fills his potential. The 2nd defensive mid spot is wide opinion. Also we do not just need a starting 11. You need a full squad. We compete in 4 competitions every year. I believe a few of our loaned out players have a real shot with our team.

Watt has almost always looked excellent whenever I’ve seen him with Leeds. He’s injured at the moment but I don’t know why Grayson dropped him to the bench after picking him regularly at the beginning of the season. Leeds fans were likening Watt’s performances to Zidane, that’s how impressive he was at linking play and creating opportunities for others.

I never thought very much of Watt, but now I think he might well have a future at Arsenal. There had to be a reason for Wenger picking Watt ahead of many others to play in the Emirates Cup just over a year ago.

Bartley’s also looked very good in the Championship, and the Sheffield Utd fans are full of praise for him.

Watt is poor. Nile Ranger is the exact same type of player, they are really similar physically but Ranger has much more ability, and is a big talent, also an Arsenal fan :)

And in the summer I would have agreed with you, I didn’t believe Watt much of a chance of making it at Arsenal.

But have you had a chance to watch him play with Leeds this season? He has bulked up and looks much stronger, while his passing and movement has been fantastic. Whether he plays wide or behind the striker he creates chances and controls the game.

first a shout for the site … very clean design, simple and easy to read … well done.
second, a note to Dan, courting controversy, with what is less of an opinion and more of a statement of fact … I should think Luke Freeman has got a future with Arsenal. Imagine a cross between Nasri and Clive Allen. Yes a very good player. And Evina, Watt, Coquelin, Traore and Barazite have all got good reason to believe they can progress and play some first team football in 1-3 years. thats enough for them to be getting on with.

Why is Galindo not starting? I thought he was supposed to be very good and if Arsenal had succeeded in getting a work permit for him, he would be included in the first team. What’s going on in Salamanca? is he not fit enough?

I think bartley is going to be a great player and well done to Blackwell for bringing him back! He looks so assured and confident and seems to have cut his mistakes out from lasy year! Very vocal and wouldn’t be a bad shout for captain if monty and morgs are out! Think he has a very bright future to say he’s only 19
