Håvard Nordtveit has arrived at Borussia Mönchengladbach’s training ground to complete a medical. The Norwegian centre back has spent the last few days in Germany thrashing out a contract, and is now expected to seal the deal tomorrow.
Arsenal accepted an offer from Mönchengladbach two weeks ago, as Young Guns exclusively revealed. Håvard has since been in behind closed doors talks with the Bundesliga outfit. However, he drove into a snow covered Borussia Park this morning, where he is currently undertaking a medical and sorting out the final details of his move.
Borussia manager Michael Frontzeck was there to greet Nordtveit, and gave a brief comment to the German press to update them on the situation.
“While it is not yet definitive that he’s signed, we’re nearly there. I hope that tomorrow everything is resolved”.
Arsenal are expected to receive a nominal fee, as the 20-year-old is out of contract in the summer. Mönchengladbach are now waiting on final signatures from the player and officials in London, with the expectation that Nordtveit will fly out to Spain to be with his new team mates later in the week.

Pretty surprised they let him leave to be honest, was hearing big things about him just before the start of the season. Could of loaned him out again and see if that would of helped, but Arsene has rarely made any big mistakes in selling players so we’l see what happens.

Nordtveit’s only hope was at right back. He was deemed surplus as a defensive midfielder with Frimpong, Coquelin, and Yennaris coming through. And Bartlet’s development along with Djourou’s strong form this season meant that a chance at center back was also unlikely.
The decision not to keep him and develop him into a right back option means Eboue is going nowhere any time soon. The boss is comfortable with the Sagna/Eboue partnership at that position and so Nordtveit had no future at the club.
His sale makes good sense and it was good of the club not to hold onto to a player who was clearly surplus, and probably not good enough.
Bartley better keep his current form going cos he’s next in line to take the step forward and hopefully he’s the one that sends Squillaci into retirement when the time comes.
Considering the hassle we went through to get him (paying through the nose) it hasn’t worked out at all. He’s been loaned out for virtually his whole career, so what was the point in getting him in the first place

He signs as a highly rated young player. Captions our reserves at what 16? Goes out on loan at what 17 to salamanca and has a horrible time. Then he finds himself back on loan from the very league he signed for us from. Then off to germany where a lot of people said he was one of the worst players in germany that year. Then ends up back in our reserves. Sad for sure

When Wenger was playing Cesc at 16/17 and even playing Wilshere currently at 18 “burnout” was not being considered gaining experience was. If Afobe is keen to be at Huddersfield to gain experience he is hardly going to be statisfied being on the bench for no other reason than possible burnout.

Nigel Neita have now all turned 17 but as yet no mention that they have signed pro.
Cos Jamie Edge was brought from another team before his 17th birthday and whenever that happens, the player automatically gets given a pro contract on his 17th birthday.

I think Wenger never liked him.He was never played in the holding role or at centre back,which were his preferred positions while he played under Arsene.
