Bartley Returns To Arsenal

Kyle Bartley has returned to Arsenal for treatment on his ruptured medial ligaments, after receiving confirmation he will not play again this season. The defender had been enjoying a prosperous loan spell with Scottish Champions Rangers.

Bartley sustained the injury during the Europa League last 16 tie with PSV Eindhoven, but it was initially thought he would return in a matter of weeks. However, further scans have revealed the full extent of the problem, and Kyle has returned to London to be looked after by Arsenal’s medical staff.

The 19-year-old played only five times for Rangers, scoring once, but hugely impressed. Gers assistant manager Ally McCoist, who will take over as head coach in the summer, has already enquired about re-signing Bartley on loan for next season.

No decision on his future will be made until the summer.

Sad to see the injury to Kyle. He was making some excellent progress with Rangers this season which would have stood him in good stead for the future and his Arsenal career. As we saw from the rapid evolution of Jack Wilshere after his loan spell at Bolton, loaning-out promising youngsters is a valuable way of preparing them for top level football. I hope Kyle recovers quickly and is back playing soon.

Love the progress the lad has made. Would love to see him go back to Rangers for another spell. We need a big athletic CB in the first team but I don’t think he is ready yet. He is only 19. Why isn’t he getting into the U21 England side?

Because Stuart Pearce wouldn’t know quality if it bit him on the backside.

He favours strength and power over skill and intelligence, especially where defenders are concerned.

No way he’s gonna go back to glasgow, he’s ready enough to be part of next seasons squad, playing cup games and odd pl and cl games

Yeah, not being funny but id say he would be better off getting his treatment in scotland. Our medics seem to make things worse

He only played 5 games for Rangers? Why do I have the feeling that he played far more. Oh well!

The best thing would be to try and reach a loan deal with a premiership-team. If not, I wouldn’t mind Rangers again. After playing so well I think they would be keen on loaning him again.

we need a defender why would we send on loan again?
who would you rather have as 4th choice Squillaci or Bartley?

He’s had two years of loan now its time for him to come back

It strikes me as strange how Kyle is constantly overlooked at national level. Considering how people were falling over themselves over Michael Mancienne from a young age.
But even though it bewilders me, I’m kind of glad, he’s just been allowed to work on his game these past 18 months.
I can see him becoming Johans back-up in a season or two.

Has progressed a lot but this injury might take its toll.He might need another loan deal before he can compete with the regulars.

Bartley won’t be going anywhere, he will be in the first team squad next season.

Let’s not forget Wilshere was ‘meant’ to have spent this season at Bolton, and Szczesny ‘should’ have been playing in the Championship.

    When you’re ready, you’re ready.

Bartley is out for the season? He’s already doing exactly what’s expected of an Arsenal player.

I’d love to see him on loan in the Prem next year. Maybe a loan plus cash deal could be worked out with Bolton for Cahill. I’m concerned about TV5s ability to come back at a high level, plus with Djourou’s on-going injury worries upgrading the position seems pertinent. Still, Kyle would seem better served playing another year on loan.

Apparently it’s a grade three tear, so he should be back in 3 months, in time for pre-season.
Altho I have no idea how reliable that is, considering I’m not sure you measure medial ligament damage in grades? I knew you measured hamstring tears in grades, didn’t know it was applicable to medial ligament tears too :S

Hate to say this but maybe this forces Arsene to buy a world class CB this summer. Think he was going to bring Bartley back in as the number 4 CB but maybe another half year on loan at Rangers would be good rehab. That forces Arsene to buy Sahko from PSG, or Vertonghen from Ajax, someone of that class.

Or maybe loan Frimpong, JET, Miquel and Conor Henderson to Bolton for the year and get Gary Cahill for less than they are asking. You scratch my back and I’ll sell you my CB for cheap!

Hi Jamie, What with Miquel’s sending off this week in the reserves will this mean he will be suspended from first team game/games as well?

With regards to the first comment. He is not in the under-21 cos Stuart Pearce is a muppet. I think Stuart Pearce picks his teams using football manager….what a psycho. I remember the good ol days when under 21 footy was used to nuture talent and prepare em for proper internationals.
