Welcome to this weekends loanees watch – Young Guns’ analysis, reports and updates on the progress of the young starlets currently plying their trade away from the Emirates Stadium. You can read all the latest reports below.
Carlos Vela was an unused substitute as West Brom beat Liverpool 2-1.
Jay Emmanuel-Thomas came off the bench to play the final 14 minutes of Cardiff City’s 4-1 win over Derby County. Emmanuel-Thomas could have scored a late fifth, but Liverpool loanee Brad Jones made a text book save to deny the powerful front man.
Henri Lansbury came off the bench to play the final 36 minutes of Norwich City’s 6-0 win over Scunthorpe United. Lansbury was rested after picking up an injury on England Under 21 duty last week, but assisted Norwich’s fifth goal for Simeon Jackson.
Sanchez Watt was an unused substitute as Leeds United beat Nottingham Forest 4-1 at Elland Road.
Vito Mannone missed Hull City’s 1-0 defeat to Millwall through injury.
Craig Eastmond came off the bench to play the final three minutes as Millwall beat Hull City 1-0. Eastmond replaced Tottenham loanee Andros Townsend in the closing stages, as the Lions looked to secure the victory.
Benik Afobe started and played 82 minutes for Huddersfield Town against Tranmere Rovers. Afobe looked dangerous all game, and opened the scoring in the 39th minute, finishing from close range after a goal mouth scramble. Benik then performed one his now infamous celebration dances.
Mark Randall was not included in the Rotherham United squad that lost 1-0 to Morecombe.
Ryo Miyaichi played the full 90 minutes as Feyenoord lost 1-0 to AZ Alkmaar. The winger struggled to get involved on the left of a front three, but had more luck when switching to the right, following a red card to Gill Swerts. However, he failed to make a significant impact on a difficult evening for Feyenoord.
Francis Coquelin came off the bench to play the final 12 minutes of Lorient’s 0-0 draw with PSG. Coquelin replaced forward Kevin Monnet-Paquet in the closing stages. Gilles Sunu played 37 minutes, also as a substitute.
Armand Traoré is expected to be on the bench for Juventus’ clash with Roma later.
Wellington Silva was an unused substitute as Levante beat Málaga 3-1.
Pedro Botelho played the full 90 minutes as FC Cartagena lost 2-1 to Granada CF. The Brazilian played the whole game on the left of a front three, and despite conceding two goals in two minutes, Cartagena hit back when Toni Moral turned in Botelho’s cross.
Samuel Galindo started and played 45 minutes as Salamanca lost 1-0 to Albacete. Galindo started in central midfield but was replaced at half time, with blood pouring from a head wound, after receiving an elbow to the face. The defeat means Salamanca are all but certain to be relegated.
I hope that Henri Lansbury will make it at Arsenal.
it will be dificult 4 most of them to make it
Mark Randall, oh dear!
I disagree with you mohammed that most of them will not make it because i believe only some will not make it we all know that all of them can not make it, well Good to see afobe score again our future star striker after 3 assist in his last game, nice to see galindo play again since coming back for injury, also good to see lansbury back on the pitch after been injured at internation duty and nice to see botelho assist once again which i hope to see in an arsenal jersey at the emirate stadium next season.
Arsenal went through quite a bit of trouble to sign Samuel Galindo, so for don’t see the reason.
It’s was a mixed weekend 4 d youngsters
Afobe and Botelho are the business. Mark Randall will never make it at the top.
I will take a punch to the face for each one that makes it out of: Thomas, Watt, Randall, Eastmond, Coquelin, or Sunu.
I can only hope to see Vela, Wellington, and Galindo.
If Mannone can’t get ahead of Fabianski at least, Lansbury, Miyaichi, and Afobe don’t make it, then our academy is really a waste of time.
You’re probably in line for 2 or 3 punches in the face.
@GOONER4LIFE&BEYOND,
I agree that Thomas,Watt(although he has potential), Randall, Eastmond and Sunu will not make it for Arsenal but you might get a punch for Coquelin who will turn out to be a very good player by the time he is 23 years old( of course, injury permitting). We need 4 years of patience with him.
I disagree with you on coquelin, yes sunu and the rest are a big doubt but coquelin is fairly good plus hes fast and can also play right back you wouldn’t expect him to walk into the first team unchallenged at 19.hes a bit like rafael.i don’t think lansbury is very talented but his work ethic is his strongest point his like kuyt/fletcher and hes good to have in the squad.
Oh yeah, Botehlo must get a chance as well.
Man I feel bad for Galindo. Boy just got back from a loong injury spell. Last thing he needed was an elbow to his head…oh well, hopefully he can make a strong finish and hope for a better loan-spell next season.
Galindo better hope to get some international caps. That’s pretty important – get him a visa and into English footie sooner rather than later.
All sounds like good prep for facing stoke and blackburn
things are looking better for Wellington Silva…. not. The boy is about to lose an entire year worth of football soon since he hardly played last fall or last summer/spring (in brazil) and now won’t play a minute even in Levante this spring.
How will he become a good footballer if he never gets to play? Arsenal should never loan anyone out to Levante ever again.
agree. And it seems like the manager is stupid enough to think you have to put a shit load of work in training to be good in matches. I hope he goes to a team that actually believes in him next time.
Feyenord? Ryo seems to be doing excellently there.
ryo miyaichi will be a star at arsenal no doubt about it! hope lansbury and wellington do well but not sure about the rest,, coquelin looks decent… but RYO RYO MUYAICHI is the future
Nice to see some of the loanees have it a little tough. This would be a good experience for them when they come back to Arsenal.
I think that Watt, Eastmond, Sunu & Randall could all be sold and asap. They will never make the first team squad and if they are not good enough for the likes of Rotherham then they are not good enough for our reserves! Sad to think that Arsene still thinks they will make it?
I think Watt wud have had a chance had he not been injured all the time, Arsene definately rated him.
BTW, sad to think that u know more than Wenger about these lads, although you’ve probably never seen them train, or watched more than a couple of the games they’ve played in.
You cant expect every youngster to make it, we buy a lot of youngsters for cheap then if they are not good enough for the first team make a profit on them, look at Nordveit we made some good money on him, bentley made a few bob on him especiallty thanks to the tits down the road paying loads of money for him and us getting some cash in the sell-on clause, look how much money Wenger spends on youngsters and how much of a profit he gets back on them, compare that to the failiures that where Reyes, Cygan, Stepanovs Diawara, Squillaci, Luzhny all that money spent and we have taken a loss on them, where as the youngsters we make a profit on, if 2 out of 10 make it it costs fuck all and the others we make a profit out of
I don’t think we make very much profit on youngsters, Bentley the only exception and that was to do with the sell on. We spend a fair chunk in wages and our reliance on youth products has cost us on the pitch. Look at the money we made on Adebayor + Toure, what you’re saying isn’t true. It’s only if they make it that we get any money for them which is self defeating. The youth project is great, but too much has been expected. We’ve spent a lot of money investing in youth instead of buying players. Maybe it’ll stand us in good stead fo the future but worryingly that’s yet o be seen. What makes young players great in any sport is drive and determination, which is probably why kids from poor backgrounds rise to the top. The loaning of players is somewhat new and may help but they seem to get a lot of injuries. In all I love the youth aspect of the club but it needs tweaking in policy to favour the experience of the first team more.
Did the brazilian chelsea signed got a work permit? how has he gotten one and none of our players got one maybe if they all married english birds they would get in quicker!!!
Are you talking about Ramires? Or Luiz?
the 17 year old they signed and anyway i want to know where every single penny goes to maybe there are people who are taking money out of the club for themselves?
Oh. I hadn’t heard about that. *does quick google search* Lucas Piazon? Probably his special talent thing went through. He’s
tearing it up in the brazil u17s.
“on 15 March São Paulo announced that Piazón would join Chelsea during the 2012 January transfer window when he becomes eligible to obtain a work visa and sign a long-term deal.”
Become a shareholder and go to a meeting, there are other meetings you can go to aswell and I’m sure all arsenal’s fiancial records are available if you really want them.
We will have to agree to disagree as all young players that leave Arsenal have sell on clauses in there contracts, Simpson has, bentley did, Alidere did (although that didnt work out) Sidwell did all these players have sell on clauses in the contracts, and in regards Adebayor or Toure Man City are the only club in the world that would have been stupid enough to pay that much money for them so you cant compare what Man City paid for them to normal valuation, I agree w would have made a tidy profit anyway but no where nere what we have made from City although if City want to waste stupid money on players they can buy Denilson, bentdner, Rosicky, Squillaci from us
“…they can buy Denilson, Bendtner, Rosicky, Squillaci from us” Couldn’t swing that could you? ;) Ok, yes, I didn’t really appreciate that every youngster would obviously have a sell on clause, that’s good business. I suppose that you even argue that it’s self sustaining with a couple of good sales, Bentley for example. Selling one or two established first team players has brought in far more though, and I do think we’ve relied on young players at times in important games over the years when they aren’t ready yet because we have this develpoing youth policy. Gibbs is a case in point for me atm. So while it may not cost us anything and as you’ve said certainly does bring in money I think it has cost us on the pitch in terms of a team that has experience. If we get another few “Wilsheres” then that’ll be different maybe the loaning policy will help with that, but I think we all suspect he’s a bit of a special case. We owe the youth policy for his development, swings and roundabouts.
Lol, I forgot I wrote this. 2 or 3 punches would be a hell of a surprise, unpleasant, but not entirely so.
