Loanees: Miyaichi Completes Loan Spell

Welcome to this weekends loanees watch – Young Guns’ analysis, reports and updates on the progress of the young starlets currently plying their trade away from the Emirates Stadium. You can read all the latest reports below.

Carlos Vela was not included the West Brom team that beat Everton 1-0.

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas played 90 minutes for Cardiff City as they drew 0-0 with Reading in the first leg of their play-off campaign. Emmanuel-Thomas was operating from the left of a five man midfield, but struggled to get involved. However, he did track back on a number of occasions, before being replaced in stoppage time.

Benik Afobe started and played 87 minutes of Huddersfield Town’s 1-1 draw with Bournemouth in the first leg of their play off campaign. Afobe was surprisingly named as a lone striker, and lacked service in a tough and tight affair. Benik did have one chance to make it 2-1 late on, but he slipped at the key moment.

Ryo Miyaichi started and played 45 minutes as Feyenoord completed their season with a 1-1 draw against NEC. Miyaichi had a bright start to the game but was withdrawn at half time after picking up an injury. Ryo is expected to recover in time to make his debut with Japan Under 22 against Australia Under 22 next month.

Francis Coquelin played the full 90 minute as Lorient drew 2-2 with Marseille. Coquelin once again impressed with an efficient midfield display. Gilles Sunu was not included in the squad.

Armand Traoré came off the bench to play the final 37 minutes of Juventus’ 1-0 defeat to Parma. Traoré did show some nice touches but couldn’t do anything to prevent the defeat.

Wellington Silva was not included in the Levante squad that drew 0-0 with Valencia.

Pedro Botelho played the full 90 minutes as Cartagena beat Girona 1-0. Botelho was restored to a role on the left of a front three, and he made his impact felt in the opening four minutes. He first had two good chances to score blocked, before he was fouled in the box for a penalty. Victor scored what would prove to be the winner, as four Girona players were sent off in an amazing second half.

Samuel Galindo was an unused substitute as UD Salamanca lost 2-0 to Xerez.

Elsewhere, Kyle Bartley collected his winners medal as Rangers beat Kilmarnock 5-1 to win the Scottish Premier League.

If he can’t play with Arsenal, I want Miyaichi to be loaned in Italy. That’s one of the most defensive leagues, and it would be a really useful experience

Lorient have already asked to have him on loan again next season and Sunu admitted he wanted to stay there to keep learning.

Delighted to see Bartley winning a medal for Rangers. Surely there’s a spot in the first team for him next season? He’s improving rapidly

I watched the Lorient vs Marseille game and I was really impressed by Coquelin. I would love to see him given a chance next season because I believe he has all the qualities to make it at Arsenal.

He covers the ground very quickly, his work rate is phenomenal plus he has very good distribution of the ball. He started the Marseille game on the right hand side and did well to link up and track back. After half-time he was moved into the center and looked more at home. Spraying the ball about and helping out his defence on a number of occasions.

it will be a scandal if botelho doesn’t get the papers he needs to start playing for us next season…he’s been in spain for near enough 4 years…

i want bartley, coquelin, lansbury and botelho back for the first team squad. everyone else can wait.

vela and jet haven’t done it at all. talent wasted on lazy little shits. not good enough for arsenal.

Botelho will join arsenal first team next session because he now has a spanish passport which will make him eligible to play in england as for miyachi even if he plays in those friendly and the copa america i dout he will get the work permit but we can apply for special talent visa and we may get it you never know as for sunu i don’t think he is actually in arsenal future plans but he need to play regularly on loan next season if we are to think of any chance so i think he may stay in lorient another session as for coquelin he is performing well so the players i aspect to see next session getting first team chance are from this players botelho, frimpong, lansbury, coquelin.

    Le Coq is the future.
    Heck he’s the present.

And I didn’t think JET had too bad of a game (Cardiff were poor in general). Remember folks, he’s their most used substitute.

Pedro botelho be intresting to see where he plays.

I hope for our sake he plays as winger.

Had enough of central attacking players playing on the wing and strikers playing on the wing.

We need some direct, pacey wingers with flair botelho has that!

Wenger must buy some and sell some. Rocisky, arshavin should be sold for sure. Bendtner should also go if he feels he’s too good for us.

I have a feeling some youth players will be going out this season. Not because they necessarily aren’t good enough, but because Wenger is finally going to invest in a number of first team players, so this will block their route into the first team, or delay it by some time. So players will want to leave, or just never get playing time in the first team.

Apparently Silva is having a very hard time in Spain. everyone thought he’d blow the league apart but he’s eating too many pies, always on his phone and has a crap attitude….sounds about right for the reserves.

Before we start judging Wellington, please remember that this is an 18 y.o. kid who just got sent a couple of thousand miles away from home. He already had some attitude issues at home, so imagine what it must be like now. Heck, if I got dumped that far away from home, I’d be quite miserable too.

I just hope the Levante staff are taking their time to teach him how to be a proper professional. The playing time will come eventually. Let’s give him some more time before writing him off.

      JET
      Bothelo
      Coquelin
      Lansbury
      Bartley.

JET is overrated. The kid has motivation issues and is just not good enough. Will never make it. The same goes for Wellington. Waste of money.

Also, what makes you think Botelho will play in the first team next season? He currently plays in the spanish 2nd division. The step up is huge. He can go on load to a championship side or be sold.

The step up is huge, but Pedro dominates the segunda in a way that Gibbs might not in the Championship, and certainly JET isn’t. He’s played more than any other player at his mid-table club, in defense he’s rarely at fault for goals conceded and going forward he looks like Gareth Bale – but he’s rarely injured LOL. If he can handle the physicality of the English league and learn to make the right decisions (he’s already better than Walcott was last season), he’ll be in someone’s first team in the premier league next year (if only from January), either ours or on loan.

The more I think about Botelho, the more I think he’s potentially part of Plan B or C late in games getting crosses in from the left for whichever of the big men subs we still have playing for us (pull Clichy). Botelho may mean the end of both Bendtner and Vela out wide on the left late in games.

I agree with that Slick, think Botelho could make for an interesting impact substitute.

Really hoping that Coquelin and Botelho will get a shot next season. We don’t have a proper left-footed winger anyway and Botelho might add that extra dimension to our squad.

Afobe’s chance late in the game was actually a sitter, unmarked from 10 yards out just after half time to make it 2-0.

Other than that he had a good game

Yes it was a sitter but that doesn’t take away the fact that he completely lost his footing just as he was about to strike the ball. What pissed me off was the dickhead commentator who had a very unfair pop at Benik on a few occasions during the game, saying he wasn’t involved at all and he’s not really contributing (often reminding the viewers that Jordan Rhodes was on the bench should Lee Clark want to change things). Now that’s fine IF Benik was constantly losing possession and/or not holding the ball up when it came to him, but the fact of the matter is that Huddersfield played quite poorly, often leaving Benik isolated up front and not creating anything of note apart from the one chance he missed. Apart from that, he held it up really well and brought his team-mates into the game. He displayed a very good first touch on a few occasions and frightened the life out of them with his pace on one occasion which resulted in a cynical foul on him right on the edge of the opposition penalty area. In fact, my biggest criticism of young Afobe in this game was that he got caught offside (very Adebayor-esque) needlessly on a couple of occasions.

Have we already written off Wellington?! Jeez he’s still a kid, who’s trying to make it in the world. Some really dumb comments on here at times.

Not everybody is together and mature as a teenager, people are different, lets accept that.

I read his occasional tweets and he sounds like me if i was dumped on foreign land faraway. Plus, he still reasons to be cheerful and happy most of the time. He’s quiet a lovable chap actually.

I hope we get the permit for him bc i think he’ll develop better around Wenger who will nurture him right. Maybe loan him out for short spells to Championship/Prem teams.

Yes, Coq and Frimpong could make DM position theirs for years. We still need to bring in an old head Van Bommel-esque or Parker and his like. Just for marshalling the troops when heads go down.

Parker is not the answer. He needs to play most games to lead, I dont think he can lead without playing much.

Well i haven’t seen Coquelin play lately but have heard nothing but good reports. If this, coupled with him getting ‘deench’ recently, is true then that’s fantastic news! It means he will offer more than Denilson and Diaby to our first team. Hell, he may even show Alex Song where the fuck a DM should be positioned on a football pitch (not that Alex doesn’t already know that, i mean, he did a magnificent job of it against Manure, hence the lack of a goal threat they posed in that game).

      Yeah man he did.

The only players ready for our first team are:

      Lansbury, Bothelo and Bartley.

A player who is nearly ready and could be given a punt on is Benik Afobe.

Everyone else either is not good enough or Lazy (Mr Vela).

How many of these players are TRULY good enough to take Arsenal forward? When we have genuinely talented players out (Wilshire last season, Ramsey briefly this year), they get to play and start for premier league or top Championships teams. Way too many of our current loanees are (at best) substitutes for lower-tier clubs – then we expect them to come back and make an impression at Arsenal?

mannone, bartley, coquelin, lansbury and botelho can all take the first team squad forward. they can challenge and oust the dregs of the current first team squad who are wasting space in their positions. almunia, squillaci, denilson, diaby, rosicky.
