Musonda Leaves London After Arsenal Talks

Anderlecht midfielder Charly Musonda has now left London after holding talks with Arsenal. The 14-year-old is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in Belgium, and Liam Brady has moved in early.

Musonda and his agent met Arsène Wenger and took in Sunday’s 1-0 win over Manchester United at the Emirates, as Arsenal hope to convince the play maker on a move to England. His father, Charles Musonda, played for Anderlecht over 100 times and now works as a coach of their youth team.

Charly’s older brothers, Lamisha and Tyka, also play for the Brussels-based outfit, they’re not rated as highly. However, many speculate that all three may follow Romelu Lukaku into the first-team, sooner rather than later.

Musonda is an attacking midfielder who can also play wide on the right. He’s blessed with blistering pace, power and superb vision. It’s thought that Arsenal would like to secure a deal now, but would be happy for Charly to remain in Belgium until his 16th birthday, so to avoid Premier Academy League rules.

More news is expected shortly.

Read the article. It’s a Liam Brady signing, not Arsene Wenger.

Unless he is a mix of Iniesta,Zidane and Messi, we should not buy him.
How many super talented creative midfielders are we going to buy(or have)?
Aneke,Bunjaku,Jon Toral,Gallindo,Olsson,Jack Jebb while Jack Wilshere,Ramsey and Fabregas are all very very young.

Where else do you suppose we should get kids to fill the ranks of the various youth teams and reserves? Hackney Marshes?

Yeah what is wrong with Arsene not just spending his time with players only of the calibre of Iniesta and Zidane? Because there are SO many of them out there.

How about trying to understand how football at the highest level really works? If you think we shouldn’t be going for the best we can find at any age and instead should just give everyone a chance, I think pre-school egg and spoon races may be more your sport.

uhh actually, ive played against charly, and he is actually a mix of them, hes quick and agile like iniesta but has insane technique, vision and is 2 footed like zidane and hes 14, hes better than jack jebb, i played against jack jebb for cardiff u16s and yes, he was good , the best centre mid id seen, until a month later i played for wales u15s against belgium and saw the 2 best players ever in my life (charly and zakaria bakkali from psv eindhoven – check him out !!!) and even though hes almost 2 years younger than jack, hes already a better player, but as Anderlecht have a much better youth outfit than arsenal and teams like ajax, psv and barcalona, the 3 best academies in the world sniffing about, i doubt he’ll choose arsenal.

Sign him up look like a future talent and with the amout of midfielder arsenal has all over they will continue to produce classic midfielders because of the competition in that position they can get the best out of them.

phv: The only thing I can think of is that attacking (dribbling) wide mid fielders are where the game is most often won or lost at the highest level, all other things being equal (especially the other key position – the central playmaker of Cesc/Xavi/Kaka/Ozil/Modric). Maybe I am buying into the hype, you know: Is my Messi better than your Ronaldo?

AW is clearly looking to maximize his chances of getting the next (or next next) generation’s Ronaldo/Messi/di Maria/Robben/Dunn/Giggs/Best/Garrincha blah blah blah. Compare with the ManU youth of the last reserve match – Obertan apart, their lads are almost clones of one another – pacey, sure, and strong and real battlers (the Ray Parlours; the role we hope Lansbury fulfills for us, for instance). But more cogs in a machine than the out and out individualists on the ball. I could be wrong.

AW’s been trying to find the next Ronaldo since, well, since we missed out on Cristiano and bought Reyes.

we finished runners up in our group with six points. the Aspire Academy won the group by picking nine out of a possible nine points including a 3-2 victory against us. They went on to the semifinals where they defeated Verona 3-0, and in the final they defeated Juventus 2-0 to claim the title

A 14 year old with an agent. What the … Anyway, this is just getting creepy to poach these kids at such a young age. Thought the club was into doing business in a proper manner.

an agent can protect you at a young age. It can open doors for you and give you many oppurtunities.

Messi was younger. Cesc was already regarded highly at a younger age.

If we have a chance of getting the next big thing, go grab it.

Let’s hope he’s on the same train as Lukaku, Vermaelen and Hazard…

It doesn’t matter whether it was Arsene or Liam Brady who signed him, your comments are off the mark.

Just because you want experienced players, does not mean the club should cease and halt signing young players, no?

And just because Arsenal’s trying to sign a young kid does not mean they won’t sign experienced players, no?

      It’s called multi-tasking.

whoever says we should not be signing these top young talents is a fool. it will only do our kids good to be playing alongside and competing with the best of their peers.

Why are people hating on us signing a talented teenager? All teams go after young talent. We just are better at it so you get mad? Do you want us to sign bad players? I don’t get it.

Anyways, good news. Can’t wait to see the Belgian team in their prime. By the way, has anyone else seen this centerback we are being linked with, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa from Montpellier in france? I watched the french league cup finals last night and he looks quality. Powerful, pacey. reads the game well and is good on the ball. I am sure he would come with a much smaller price tag than Sakho.

It looks like arsenal under 18 will be full of young African players rather than british ones judging by the arsenal under 16.

    Liam Brady needs replacing

The African kids you speak of ARE British! You may as well kill yourself and end your pain because i’ve seen what’s coming out of Hale End over the next few years and it’s no exaggeration to say approximately 80% percent of the kids are of African descent.

As for them wanting to represent ‘Africa’ instead of England? Well, i promise you i’m no African (nor am i black), but i’m a fair person who calls it as i see it and all i’ll say about that matter is if i had witnessed many African’s (or blacks, for that matter) before me get overlooked in favour of what else was available to them, despite clearly being a better player, then i would turn my back on England too (and i’m born and raised here).

This won’t happen… His father is very loyal to anderlecht and want his sons to succeed there. His two brothers already got contracts.
By the way, the pace and power description is a bit misleading. He is small for his age, looks about eleven.
    Incredible technique and vision though.

He did not look stronger than anyone on the pitch. Hopefully that means he will work even harder and end up having special vision and techniques cus thats what you need to have when you are smaller. But I think he is just a late developer like Wilshere was. Look at Wilshere today.
