Ryo Miyaichi is now free to begin his Arsenal career.

The 18-year-old was in London this afternoon as the club lodged an application for a special talent work permit, needed for him to be registered as a first-team player. Faced with overwhelming evidence from Arsène Wenger and members from the Japanese FA, the deciding panel accepted Ryo is an exceptional case and granted the permit with immediate effect.

Miyaichi will now go straight into Arsenal’s first-team squad for the new season. The club hope the paperwork will be completed in time for Ryo to be in contention for this weekends Premier League opener against Newcastle United.

Arsenal have completed the signing of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Southampton.

The 17-year-old was at London Colney this afternoon where he finalised personal terms and had a medical, before signing a long-term deal with the club.

The news brings to an end another protracted transfer saga, in which the England Under-21 international has twice seen moves to the Emirates break down. Oxlade-Chamberlain’s talents come at a premium though, with the Press Association reporting a £12 million fee, plus a further £3 million to follow in add-on’s.

Arsenal are expected to confirm the signing shortly.

Arsenal’s six month persuit of Southampton winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is nearing an end, after the 17-year-old arrived at London Colney for a medical.

Oxlade-Chamberlain had already visited Colney earlier in the summer, after Southampton gave him permission to hold talks with Arsène Wenger. However, the two clubs failed to agree a fee, and the player returned to the South Coast.

Yet Arsenal re-opened talks over the weekend, and have found common ground with a structured £12 million fee. Oxlade-Chamberlain has already accepted terms on a long-term contract, and the deal is expected to go through before the close of play this evening.

Feyenoord technical director Martin van Geel has confirmed the club are continuing to talk to Arsenal over re-signing Ryo Miyaichi, as well as other available loanees.

Van Geel revealed the news in an interview with NU Sport this afternoon, where he admitted Feyenoord are in pole position to sign Miyaichi on loan for a second time, should Arsenal’s work permit application be refused. Yet Arsène Wenger is hopeful he can include the Japanese winger in his first-team squad, with a decision expected on August 15th.

Ryo is currently in Lisbon, preparing for the Gunners’ final pre-season friendly against Benfica. A selection of European outfits have already asked about his availability, but van Geel believes Feyenoord are leading the chase.

“I understand that we are top of the list of clubs to loan Miyaichi. Our contacts with Arsenal are good, and I understand that Ryo would like to return to Feyenoord, if he is not allowed to remain in England.”

Van Geel has previously said he intends to fly to London in late August to discuss a deal for Miyaichi. He has since retreated that statement, while also confirming he could look at Arsenal’s other available loanees.

Two players who may well interest Feyenoord are French Under 20 forward Gilles Sunu and Dutch midfielder Oğuzhan Özyakup, both of whom are allowed to leave on loan.

Kyle Bartley has followed up the signing of a new contract at Arsenal by re-joining Scottish Champions Rangers on loan.

The 20-year-old rebuffed a selection of Championship offers to return to Ibrox, where he impressed in the closing stages of last season during a similar loan stint.

Bartley took part in the Arsenal photo shoot at the Emirates Stadium today, joining new first-team players Emmanuel Frimpong, Henri Lansbury, Benik Afobe and Ryo Miyaichi in doing so. However, as mentioned earlier in the day, Kyle was always set to move on loan for the season.

The paperwork has been finalised in time for Kyle to be involved in a friendly against Chelsea on Saturday.

Arsène Wenger has included Emmanuel Frimpong, Henri Lansbury, Benik Afobe and, providing he is granted a work permit, Ryo Miyaichi in his first-team squad for the new season, Young Guns has learnt.

All four players are yet to have their first-team squad numbers confirmed, but were told of their promotion before today’s opening training session for members at the Emirates Stadium.

Spanish Segunda outfit Gimnàstic de Tarragona have agreed to sign Samuel Galindo on a season long loan from Arsenal.

The 18-year-old, who has featured in all of Arsenal’s Reserve team friendlies during pre-season, returns to Spain after a difficult spell with UD Salamanca last season. Galindo struggled for fitness and opportunities, as the Union suffered relegation.

However, the creative midfielder has impressed Neil Banfield with his displays, and joins Nàstic in good form. He will put the finishes touches to the transfer this evening, when he has a medical before being presented to the media.
