Arsenal's U18's Draw While U16's Beat Chelsea

Arsenal’s Under 18’s fought out a tough draw with their Chelsea counterparts this morning at the Blues’ Cobham training complex. The Gunners were a touch lucky to return across London with a point after home midfielder Josh McEachran twice put the ball in the net – only to see both strikes ruled out for offside.

Free-scoring striker Luke Freeman had further chances to add to his 14 goals so far this season but Chelsea’s Sam Walker was in inspired form. Conor Henderson was also denied by Walker in the first half which could have gone either way. Coached by Arsenal’s former Under 16 boss Dermot Drummy, the Blues looked busy all game and they had numerous chances to snatch the win for themselves. McEachran scored twice yet the tight Arsenal offside-trap saw the goals ruled out.

Elsewhere, Arsenal’s Under 16’s had a better result, beating Chelsea’s Under 16’s 3-1. Alban Bunjaku scored a brace while Samir Bihmoutine continued his ruthless form with another strike. Zak Ansah also missed a penalty.

What the kid did was wrong. You can’t make excuses for his lack of professionalism. It’s a shame he missed the penalty, it could have been another goal for Arsenal. The kid is an Arsenal player even if he said stuff he shouldn’t have, and as long as he wears that jersey we have to suck it up and support him.

People slating the kid have a right to vent their anger but should also remember that he is 16 and we all mature at different rates. He’ll realise his mistakes sooner rather than later and that’s probably messing with his head. He did wrong but while he still plays for Arsenal, we can only hope that the club will deal with him, we should still try and support him even we don’t necessarily have to like him.

And swoosh, if it was just a conversation with his “friends” how did it leak out? Facebook isn’t public. How did GoonerChris et al find out what he’d said? Either his friends sold him out or he was openly gloating. It’s fine to support other teams, Fabregas supports Barca, Walcott is a Liverpool Fan and even Bentley supported Spurs. The key thing is to act like a professional and respect the team you play for.

“The midfield battle was quickly becoming an interesting one. Arsenal’s group of the powerful and tall Chuks Aneke with Henderson and Ozyakup, backed up by the tenacious Yennaris were, on paper, likely to be too much for Chelsea’s lightweight trio.” OMG this looks so familiar. :D the most famous comment when our first team plays theirs, just the opposite, we have the “lightweight trio” :)

Kep….his lack of proffesionalism comes from the fact that he is 15!!! Who cares, and for the people cussing at him, I can only hope you arent an adult. Yelling and insulting a 15 year. Crazy. Everyone seems to act like they were all fully mature in the mentality at 15. By the way kep, read my comment up there about why Fabregas supporting Barca, Walcott for Liverpool, etc is deferent scenerio.

Shane at 15, you should still know better. Arsenal are the team he plays for and if you are going to be in the public eye, maturity and professionalism have to come in quicker. While cussing the kid is a bit extreme, he just needs to be a bit wiser. I do understand from what swoosh said, that it was just fun with his mates on Facebook, but the kid is still in the public eye and if there’s chance things will be taken the wrong way, he needs to be a bit wiser.

I read your comment shane and you make a lot of sense. Kids will be kids. It’s just I grew up in a different world and at 15, you sort of knew better than at 15 now. The kid didn’t kill anyone or do anything excessively wrong, it’s just that people feel personally affronted when it comes to their football team. Some idiots end up talking about booing the kid or worse and at his age, he doesn’t need that from anyone. With the amount of friends he has on facebook, he just needs to be careful with what he says.

And I was shocked that Wilshere supports West Ham!! Are any of these kids Gooners?

You know, if it weren’t an ACN year, I think Wenger might have gone for Gervinho in January. He’s on a tear for Lille, but Wenger was looking for more immediate striker help while Bendtner was injured and (still) recovering.

The fact that he’s a Yanited fan isn’t a problem. Anyone who thinks it is needs to pull their head out of their arse.

It’s the fact he insulted the first team calling them “shit” and a “1 man team”.

Should be released for that alone

It is quiet obvioua why alot of these kids are Manchester United fans because when alot of them were born back in the early to mid ninteen ninties, and that is when the English Premier League took of and the most succesfull team that won absolutly everything domesticly and in 1999 with the UEFA European Cup and then FIFA World Club championship at the end of the year in Japan was Manchester United, and kids being kids they tend to follow the most succesfull football teams, allways have and they allways will, well that is my explanation for the Manchester United love fest, amongst the Arsenal U16’s and U18’s football teams anyway.

I personally think he will make it because he knows how to put the ball into the back of the net and as a striker that is what matters most, but having said all that insulting his clubs own supporters will not do him any favours in the future, because some people have long memories.

Some of you guys are utterly pathetic. You get your cock in hand at the first sign of J telling you that he’s a fantastic prospect and continue to tug over him for ages, then when it comes out he’s NOT an Arsenal fan, you want to throw him out like yesterday’s rubbish.

Bollocks like this is why most people think Arsenal fans are complete cunts. Man up and understand that people often don’t support the team they play for and LET A TEENAGER BE A TEENAGER. I mean seriously. Every time one of your kids does something you don’t like it’s as if he’s suddenly rubbish. See Merida to Atléico, Afobe to Barca and recently the idea Savic isn’t coming.

Fucking bunch of morons at times. I know that doesn’t represent everyone but dear me, it’s certainly the majority. I bet 95% of you haven’t even seen him play and just go with what you’re told.
