Arsenal Delay Savić Negotiations Until The Summer

Arsenal have decided to re-visit the potential signing of central defender Stefan Savić in the summer after he returned to club side SK Borča following a 10 day trial. Reports emerged yesterday that Arsène Wenger had not been sufficiently impressed and would not be signing the player.

Stefan touched down in Montenegro this morning and immediately spoke to the media about his time with the Gunners. He spent 10 days on trial and then played 90 minutes of a behind-closed-doors friendly against Dagenham and Redbridge. The quietly spoken defender laughed off reports of a €2.5 million transfer fee before discussing his experiences.

“I spent ten days in London. It was planned in advance that I would stay for five days in the Arsenal camp. However, Mr Wenger insisted that I stay for longer, and he arranged an extension of all the work permits. This is a great experience for me. It is an honor to train and work everyday with stars such van Persie, Arshavin, Fabregas and Traoré.”

Chief Executive Ivan Gazidis has had inital talks with Savić’s representatives and a decision has been reached that it would be beneficial for the player to complete the campaign with Borča. An invitation has already been extended to the current Montenegrin Young Player of the Year for him to return and train in the summer, after having a full season of first-team football under his belt.

“Everything is still very much open. There is the possibility to sign the contract [with Arsenal] now, and to return to Borča until the summer. However, the coaching staff concluded that it is better to see me again in the summer.”

The 19-year-old would be available at cut down fee in the summer.

In other news, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas is the Lamb Awards sponsored Young Guns Player of the Month for December 2009.

seems this guy is talking a bit too much, and whether it is a contract or a “dont call us we’ll call you” is hard to tell

Just because a player is injured it doesn’t mean he doesn’t work in the gym for example.

The Ayling situation was explained in the comment section yesterday. He was injured but is now back fit. He was on the bench against Dagenham.
