Loanees – Szczęsny, Watt, Randall & Ayling Complete Loans

Welcome to this weekends special Loanees Watch – Young Guns’ analysis, reports and updates on the progress of the young starlets currently plying their trade away from the Emirates Stadium. You can read all the latest reports below including the updates from the final League One games of the season.

In League One…

Wojciech Szczęsny signed off at Brentford with a clean sheet in front of the Bees fans against Hartlepool. The visitors needed goals to ensure their stayed in League One but the Polish youngster pulled off a string of quickfire saves to keep things level. Ugly scenes at towards the end of the game saw bottles and coins rain down onto the pitch with both goalkeepers helping to keep calm. Fans favourite Szczęsny earned cheers all round on the final whistle.

Sanchez Watt was a late substitute as Leeds United won promotion back to the Championship. They managed to beat Bristol Rovers but a red card for Max Gradel meant a shaky finish. Watt came on with just stoppage time left to help see the win out.

Mark Randall started and played the first 45 minutes for Milton Keynes Dons as they travelled to Walsall’s Banks Stadium. Randall was returned to his preferred position of central midfield but struggled to make an impact in a fixture dominated by Walsall. Nursing a slight knock, Mark was replaced at half time.

Gavin Hoyte & Luke Ayling both started at full back against each other as Brighton took on Yeovil Town. Hoyte completed 90 minutes while Ayling was subbed off with 7 minutes left in a forgetable 1-0 Brighton win.

Elsewhere…

Pedro Botelho is expected to start against Girona later today.

Håvard Nordtveit was an unused substitute for Nuremberg as they edged a win against Cologne 1-0. Nordtveit revealed he’s feeling “physically and mentally tired” in midweek.

Is there anyway Chesney can be included in the squad for Fulham’s game?

Yeah, if I was Wenger I’d be tempted to give Szczesny and Lansbury a run out. Even if it’s just in the second half. I wonder where Jay ET and Simpson are?

No way. Tomorrow’s game is about securing third spot. I also feel that Wenger is reluctant to giving a young keeper as Szczęsny a bad experience that could damage his positive development. If he doesn’t stand by Almunia/Fabianski, he will have to sell them instead. Can’t see that happening.

Any chance of a video of the highlights of the semi-final? Also, as the final is at the Emirates, does that mean they’ll be selling tickets? If not, do you know of a live stream, like there was for the semi, for those of us who don’t subscribe to AOTV?

I am wondering to see if Lansbury can do like Cole did when coming back from Crystal Palace; establishing himself as a regular. I am not jumping on the bandwagon to get a central midfielder as many others say, there is too much talent in there. I agree to get leader personalities like Campbell, but they can contribute in other positions

Lansbury is more in competition with Ramsey and Diaby for the box-to-box midfielder’s job in the 433 system so we will see.

Egil, the team he has been putting out is not capable of getting third the way they’ve been playing. You have to take risks sometimes and Szczesny probably has a greater mental capability to perform under pressure in comparison to both keepers.

Surely two inexperienced players in terms of Premier league games will not mess up the team, plus it’s a great time to catch Fulham cold as they will not put out anything like their first team.

@Gooner4life&beyond: There is a huge huge huge huge huge huge difference between the level Chesney played on while on loan and the level he will be up against tomorrow. Just because you do good in Legue One and is a talent does not mean you are ready to step in on the biggest stage. There is a reason he went to League One. There is a reason he is groomed the way he is.
Fabianski is more or less “ruined” for arsenal now. Let us not “ruin” one more talent. Let us match him wisley so he can become the star we all know he has the potential to be.

Remember there is also a huge difference between having potential and actually delivering the goods. A good example is Nani, Evans and Anderson at United. Non can dispute any of the guys talent. Yet Nani has only shown his true colours this spring. At the age of what?23? Anderson is still to show it while, evans and Gibson, both 22 years of age(same as Denilson and older than Walcott) are said to be huge prospects for the future. Yet non of them are better than an of our 22 year olds as it stands today( they are probably the same as Diaby and Denilson, except our 22year olds has been expoused alot more so you can see their inexperience alot more).
If our guys start to show true signs of starhood in their mid 23rd year, they are on the same course as Nani. And nani has done really really well the last part of the season. That is 1 and a hafl year for Walcott, and one year for Denilson. and how old is Nasri? 22?

And the kids you want to put out in a crucial match for tomorrow? When are they 23? in 5 years? Meaning they will not reach nanis level for ages yet! Let them develop without the preassure Denilson and Diaby has had all year. Clearly they would have benefited from being fringe or squad plaeyrs like Gibson and Evans has done at United. Even Welbeck and Macheda, has had very few runs this year. They are as talented as our youngsters.
they will not be ready for Sunday. Simple as. Not everyone is a freak of nature like Cesc, wishire and ramsey :-)

its simple whoever is better he will play
casillas became madrid no.1 at 19-20 because he was better than the rest
age has nothing to do with it.
If you are mature enough, have better ablities and can offer more than the player in the first team then you will play in front of him.
      this applies to all players
IF wilshere is ready to play next year and he’s better than diaby or denilson then he will play in front of them, if not then he will be loaned.
The person who judges whos ready and whos not is Wenger and I doubt he cares about age either.
Just look at Ramsey and how good he was doing this year

Thanks for the update mate. It’s good to know how the young guns are going.
I’m afraid that only a small few will make it into the first team squad.

Personally I think Wenger should cut his losses with Randall, Hoyte & Simpson this season. It’s not that they’re bad players it’s just that there is too many better players in their positions.

Gibo, Good weighted. As for the fellows who are writing off Hoyte I think its too early. Don’t judge a man by his brother! Give him a couple of years. He is no worse than Gilbert and is much younger and remains the fastest reserve.

Hoyte I believe was demoted to the reserve in a league one side that’s sounds going backwards to me.

of all the strikers we have i think Jay Simpson is most natural and i think could have faired better than Nick B Nordveit should be in team next season so do Kely bertly schezny and Jack Wilshare sums up whereas Craig Eastmord looks promising needs a loan to get run of games

for all those who are sad and heartbroken that we did not win anything you seem to forget rather too fast had we been given 4th place at the start of the season we could have grabbed it. Its amazing that we are in a shout for 3rd. The bookies etal didnt give us a chance even the official poster of Epl didnt have our player

      that’s suppose to be comforting
I am the greatest supporter of arsene wenger and neither would he or any real arsenal fan be happy with 4th or 3rd spot we want to win the PL and I think we can proud of what we achieved this season (atleast what we did before Barca match) after that everything went down the drain.

I have a question for all the people who visit Younguns
Wojciech Szczęsny from the saves I saw him make today (youtube) looks better than any keeper I have ever seen in my life. HIs shot stopping is better than any keeper in the world and his bravery in front of goal is better than all our keeper combined.
He has been on loan at Brentford for a year where he proved his worth and if he was an outfield player then he would go straight into the team then why not a goalkeeper. We need a goalkeeper ( almunia and fabianski are not up for it ) so what’s the point of spending money on a Gk for a year or two years and then have Wojciech Szczęsny take over when he can take over now. He went on loan to prove himself and has proven himself beyond any shadown of doubt so why not give him a chance now rather after 1-2 years.

Rather than spending 7-8 millions on a GK wenger can spend money on a quality CB, Melo and CHamak is already coming and be done with it.

Arsenal game against fulham to day has got Lansbury, Easmond, Merdia, Gibbs, Vela, Djourou, Mannone on the bench. Hopefully we will see Lansbury at some point.

The goalkeeping position is different in the sense that lower league maybe more difficult by being more physical. Charges on the goalkeeper that would be punished in the EPL are quite often accepted in lower league,
Randall, Hoyte, Simpson, Gilbert will have a career, however in my view that will not be at Arsenal.
Next year Eastmond and Coquelin should go on loan in the chanpionship.
Wilshere should go on loan for the first six months in order to help for the second half of the season.

Andrew your wrong it is very different playing 1 or 2 young players in a mature strong good side eg. current Chealsea or say our Invincibles where they can be protected and nursed through compered to this Arsenal side Goalkeepers at the start of the season Szczsny probable was number 4 it now looks that he could already be the best but even so a new number 1 needs to be bought Almunia 2 Fabianki sold he isn,t big enough and will probably never recover & Szczsny left as number 4 and again sent on loan 4 the reasons Gibo states

sorry to break itto you about gavin hoyte.. he started his first months loan really well.. renewed it and has been pretty bad ever since to be honest, doesn’t seem very composed and even when we played a conference team in the fa cup they purposefully targetted him!
we aren’t your average league1 long ball team, we have gus poyet, yet he still doesn’t seem to be ableto pass accuarately! shame for him unless preseason he developes alot i doubt he will get near your first team.. would you mind sending a striker who may get 20-25 goals for next season:)?
