Arsenal Trialist Miyaichi Poised For Ajax Trial

Arsenal trialist Ryo Miyaichi is set to fly out to Holland later this week ahead of a training spell with Dutch giants Ajax. The Japanese winger played 60 minutes for Neil Banfield’s second string in a 3-0 win over Boreham Wood last night.

Miyaichi is currently signed to the Chukyo University in Nagoya but he has had trials in Europe with German outfit FC Köln. Ryo shot to prominence playing in Japan’s Under 17’s at the recent FIFA U 17 World Cup, which was eventually won by Sead Hajrovic’s Switzerland. He featured three times but a poor Japan side were defeated on every occasion.

Ryo’s representatives have been working hard to get the player a contract in Europe and last nights 60 minute run out for Arsenal is notable. However, a training spell with Ajax’s Under 19’s in Holland has already been agreed on, meaning the Gunners must act quickly. Miyaichi is a 5’11, genuinely two-footed winger, who can also play off a striker. His superb dribbling skills and ability to beat players with ease saw him catch the eye at Meadow Park.

Arsène Wenger has long tried to get a foot hold in the Asian market, with Junichi Inamoto helping firmly establish the Gunners in Japan. In 2006 Sho Ito, also from Chukyo University, was on the verge of signing after a trial, only for a work permit application to fall through at the last minute.

Wenger’s trusted staff members Boro Primorac and Steve Rowley were in the stands last night to run the rule over the youngster, but there is no indication as yet whether Miyaichi will be Arsenal’s newest Asian import.

I don’t think Arsenal brought to London for trial. Look like his agent that bring him to europe to have trail with several clubs. It normal bussiness that you have your client trail at several different clubs in one round trip to europe, in If all club interest you pick which one offer you the best package.

SO a bit thinking before voicing you opinion to the whole word pleaseeeeee…….

Alarming indeed. Multiple asian talents have gone through Holland’s academys and first-teams and then went on to play for bigger clubs.

Park ji Sung & Keisuke Honda to name two.

not sarcastic at all folks. It takes always ages if we sign someone. Also do not entertain this Spahic guy rumours which is not here the place to discuss. We lost out on Alonso and Ronaldo for paying less. But lets wait and see what happens. According to the official Montpellier HP we are no where near in contact about this bosnian guy!!!

Why did he chose UTD over us? Because we didn’t go that extra mile to persuade him, make him an offer he couldn’t refuse.

We didn’t lose out because we did not pay enough or wasn’t persuasive enough. Ronaldo eventually signed for Manure because of Carlos Quieroz’s link with Manure and SAF.

Yep, it’s frustrating. Life is complicated. Unless you are a dictator. Wenger embraces complications; he’s doesn’t act out of insecurity and fear. But we did snap up Galindo right quick. Besides, it’s not always only up to us. Supporters of big clubs need to act like supporters of big clubs. Keep calm in the knowledge that we’re bigger than any prospect or you hand the advantage to everyone else. That’s what Mourinho and Ferguson bring to a club through arrogance. Wenger does it through intelligence and psychology. Clearly neither are working on you!

arsenal4ever Wenger can only identify the players the rest is done by the executive body of Arsenal FC. after the george graham debacle no Arsenal manager now deals with the final bit of the transfer. there are many things to get into place before you can sign a player first and foremost will they get a visa or not which is not in arsenals hands.
its nice to know that fans like you are better at running Arsenal football club then the professionals in charge. I presume you have a magic wand that you wave every time you want to sign a player. now why don’t you run along wait a table or do whatever mundane task it is you do and let the pros run the club.

    Because Utd had Carlos Queroz.

Why did Anelka, Henry, Arshavin, Fabregas, Ramsey, Campbell and others sign for Arsenal over others? Because of the envious history of the Club, its standing in world football, its supporters, its facilities and because of Wenger.

I suggest you think before you type.

Alternatively, stop typing altogether and start thinking like a grown man (or woman) and have some perspective.

herbert chapman was a great coach but before my time and I can only judge him through his sporting success nothing else
but wenger has made arsenal into a totally different club we were called the boring boring arsenal before now we are probably the best attacking side in europe, we have a conveyor belt of talent coming through, we are financially the best run club in europe, we have by my personal account the best stadium in england, we have the most advance facilities in england and the youngest club in england vying for the PL title.
this is after a debt that made us sell our best players and have to clamp down on wages only a great manager can make this happen
and the changes wenger has made with arsenal will live on even after his demise and we will enjoy and reap awards from these changes for decades to come

  • August 4, 2010 at 3:02 pm

t.Henry (Wenger brought him at Monaco) Anelka,Fabregas ,Ramsey have sign because of Wenger not because of Arsenal history. except for sol who choose us because we were the best team in England (with MU ) and he want to win a title sooner rather than later

Same with Ronaldo who sign at MU because he knew Queiros .

true this Japanese player could be a Ronaldo but also could be the new Inamoto too ;)

I tend to agree with thenry above rather than with the simplistic, fantasy-footballistic opinion of other posters regarding transfers procedure.
Besides, the “good” coach / “bad” coach debate would be much more interesting if Henry (coached by AW and Guardiola) or Sylvestre (coached by SAF and AW) were participating since being a coach goes beyond trophy cabinet considerations as far as Im concerned.
Anyways, regarding Miyaichi, we can assume money will not be an issue against Ajax or FC Koln, therefore if AW and his scouts decide he is not worth a sum of money which will surely not be over £1M, I think they deserve to be trusted.
That C Ronaldo would have become the C Ronaldo as we know him had he gone to Arsenal and not Man United is highly unlikely. Especially coming from Arsenal fans who surely support the idea that Fabregas would not have become Fabregas had he stayed with Barcelona :)

but won´t it be very hard for Ryo to get an english work permit as he hasn’t done anything noteworthy in his career yet so as to establish him as an exceptional talent? And we know wenger usually doesn’t know how to get a work permit for his non-eu talents, like alex ferguson does (has he ever failed in that aspect?).

man utd did outbid us for c ronaldo, but that was in the highbury era, when man utd outbid everybody – before abramovich even came on the scene. i’m sure arsenal went as high as they could, but utd could always offer more back in ’03. these youngsters who criticise wenger would do well to look back at those days and observe how and why times are changing. the club and fans owe wenger a huge debt of gratitude – he is a visionary.

Do you really think that with all Wenger has to do he is also responsible for bundling the visa paperwork and all negotiations from the first team down to the under 8’s junior ladies? The same thing is true of Alex Ferguson.

AFC has Gazidis and a team of people who do this sort of thing.

If Arsene likes Miyachi then he can be part of the persuasion package but the acquisition attempt is done by others.

Hey all, What do we think of this Miyaichi kid. Personsally i think he looks really good. watched him in the U17’s and have seen clips of him. the comparisons with Ronaldo are the closest I guess as he has skill, pace and technique. I want Wenger to get him, but I guess we will see?

To all those anti Wenger people out there, he created a brand that’s financially self-sufficient with the best ground, training complex, youth setup and general facilities around. Yes his transfer policy is frustrating at times but we wouldn’t have had players like cesc, kolo, thierry etc without it and we wouldn’t be the best run club in europe.

    In Arsene we trust

From what I’ve heard about the C. Ronaldo shirt from Wenger and Ronaldo himself was that we were very very close to signing him. He was taken around Highbury, got an Arsenal shirt with his name on it given to him by Wenger and we had spoken to Sporting. Man Utd then came in and over bid us by 3-4 million I think? (12mil) which was a lot considering he was nowhere near the player he was when he left.

    That’s just my 2 cents.

Onto Ryo. I’d love to have him at Arsenal. Japanese footballers are on the up, they had a lot of good players in the World Cup and one great one in Honda. Would love to see him in an Arsenal shirt, and if we can take a gamble on someone like Sunu (not my favourite youngster) I’d like to see us give this boy a go.

Even Wenger makes mistakes, who cares?? I mean Ronaldo was probably worth 12 million pounds at the time, and if we had scouted him properly, we would have realized this. But he almost went to Juventus as well. Other teams missed out on his talent. Look, Wenger has given us great young talents and he’s bringing them through right now!!:D Why dwell on the past when we have kids like Afobe, JET, Aneke, Wilshere, Bartely and Miquel, and Yennaris, just to name a few?? Stop bitching and whining because it doesn’t do any good. For what it is worth, I wouldn’t want Ibra or Ronaldo in my team. Both are great artists with a football, but both have been severely destructive in the past. I’d much rather have Fabregas or Wilshere or Aneke. They are both consumate team players and are much more consistent than Ibrahimovic. PLUS we paid jack shit for the talent that we are producing. We didn’t have to prean to any agents or pay exhorbitant fees for any of them. I hate people who moan about us not getting Ronaldo or Ibrahimovic!! WHO CARES!! HUNDREDS OF OTHER TEAMS MISSED OUT AS WELL.

ok a few facts, ronaldo was in wengers office literally about to sign his contract when his phone went and he said i have another offer i have to check out…he drove straight to manchester where he was offered a deal that nearly double the wages we offered and also had wage increases per year tied into it which we did not have….yes quieroz was the man who made the call on behalf of fergie, so u could say it was becoz of his link that he even entertained answering the call in the first place…if harry rednose at the lane had called i’m sure he would of ignored it…but……he was offered a better deal at a club where there was somsone he already knew well…so its both really,….we have lost out on loads of players where we have been outbid, chelsea love to pip us to a player, they got diarra, cech, kalou, drogba and kakuta to name a few from under our noses….we are restricted heavily financially there’s no denying it and it has cost us before….any spachic is bullshit not going to happen, we haven’t even made an enquiry and he’s not exactly aw’s type of player, pure paper noise….however mertesacker we r after as where we jagielka thats dead now, and werder said they have no intention of selling per as he has not asked for a transfer, maybe if he does they will negoiate but until then watch this space fokes…a cb and a gk is on aw’s radar whether we get who we want and whether its now is different he will wait if he has too he did it with arshavin and chamakh we’ll know in the next two weeks though….i love fabregas and our club and everyone involved and can’t wait for the new year
