UPDATE: Wilshere ‘Unlikely’ To Face Charges

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere was arrested by police in the early hours of this morning in an incident where a woman was assaulted. Wilshere has since been released on bail and the agency who work for the youngster confirmed Jack is ‘unlikely’ to face charges.

Wilshere was arrested along with four men in a car following the incident where a woman suffered a broken elbow, and a man serious facial injuries. However, the Wasserman Media Group released a short statement confirming their client is ‘unlikely’ to face charges.

The statement went on to confirm that Jack is an important witness to the incident as he tried to play the role of peacemaker shortly before the assult.

agreed, but the RvP situation in Holland didn’t end up putting RvP out of Wenger’s good graces. Too soon and too little info to judge, methinks.

makes you appreciate walcott more, ok he’s been inconsistent and poor at times, but he’s kept his head screwed on and has avoided any controversy for off-pitch behaviour.

what is it with these kids, taking massive chances with their careers before they’ve even played a game? very foolish.

Its also obvious that any footballer out on the town will find themselves a target for either; pissed up meat heads who fancy having a pop at them, or wannabe WAGs hoping to shag a premier league footballer.

But I wouldnt compare jack with the likes of Gerrard et al. To do so, is rather tasteless and not to mention fucking stupid.

And Samuel has it right, lawyers keep these players innocent and in my opinion, you don’t get arrested for being a peacekeeper and everyone’s taking Wasserman Media Group’s statement as gospel, they were never going to put Jack in a bad light!

And what has being out till 3am got to do wioth anything? He is 18 years old FFS! My mum goes out that late now and again, so maybe we should have her arrested to, just to be on the safe side.

Anyone could find themselves involved in a situation at any moment, and the link above proves that the police arrested him as a witness on the scene rather than as someone involved in the incident itself.

Obvously he was out driving around in a car late at night. Hardly the kind of thing you want your well paid Arsenal players to be doing. If he was the peacemaker, great. But in my opinion he should lern from this and reconsider what he is douing off the pitch. That is what I mean with a wake up call. He is a public person now and these kind of situations is almost always avoidable.

I cannot believe the amount of uninformed comments on here. Seriously people, let the facts come to light before jumping to any conclusion. If Jack Wilshere was trying to play peace maker then thats being a good person in society and I would want an individual of his character to be on earth let alone at Arsenal. If he is judged to have been a part of some aggro then he will be dealt with as an adult, both by the law and by the club. If one of his friends was the perpetrator then he should reconsider the company he keeps. There is far to much judging and false information available on the internet via TWitter – Blogs – Websites leading to knee jerk reactions i.e.many of the statement above. There exists a great responsibility when others look to you for any type of guidance and insight.

Love the blog about young Arsenal players however, by not reporting the entire story it will inevitably lead to some ridiculous comments and change perceptions about individuals who we admire for their football. Robin Van Persie got accused of rape and spent two weeks in jail before the truth came out that this woman made up the whole story. He carried that bullshit unnecessarily with him for years. He was a young man who didn’t do anything wrong but was judged by shoddy instant news services.

My intention isn’t to criticize the author of the blog as you do a great job. I am speaking to the larger context of instant news and the role we all play.

Sorry, I have to LOL at this story, as I think I attended the same party. Can Sanderson confirm where this happened?

Basically at the end of the rave, there was a massive commotion as a girl got assaulted by a dude (he knocked her out cold and hit the ground hard) and tried to run away but hit his head on a car and was left bleeding (also, someone else got ran over).
It’s a pretty popular place for footballers. Funnily enough, I made a joke on my status if wilshere was at the bar last night, and by the description of what happened, very well may have.

Anyways, if this was the same incident, then I’ pretty confident he’s not involved, as it was a black dude that assaulted the girl.

I think we all have to take into account that he put himself in this situation, guilty or not. Was Fabregas, Denilson, Flamini, Djourou, Clichy, Song etc, the list goes on ever arrested outside a nightclub.

I’ve been to plenty of nightclubs and have never got into any trouble or been arrested. There is know hiding the fact, a lot of young players who are professional footballers are flash kids, trying to emulate the lifestyles that they see the older players living.

You have to ask yourself, what is going to a nightclub going to do to improve him as a player or a person. Get a DVD, invite a friend round, order a pizza, and bloody watch a film and relax. If he was drunk, he will spend the day tommorow hung over and then have to report for training Monday.

Look at people like Scholes, he’s still got the legs and sharpness to keep going because he’s sacrificed a lot. If Wilshire and other youngsters want to spent there evenings in nightclubs, then feel free, but maybe he should leave Arsenal and go and play somewhere else.

    Theo Walcott quote:

“I’m in the countryside with my family. There are footballers who get up to mischief, but it’s their lives and they can do what they want. It’s quite hard sometimes when footballers are related to nightclubs, drinking and money. Not all footballers are like that.
“My career is short, I know that. You don’t want to waste it, you want to reach your top level. I don’t go to nightclubs. They’re not for me – it doesn’t interest me whatsoever. I don’t see the point.”

It is the first time that I hear a witness being given bail.
Normally you are under bail when you are a suspect or at least a friend of the suspect.
Witness do not pay bail, otherwise they would not be any witness.
The statement by the media group is not worth the piece of paper on which it is written.
Regarding the unprofessionalism, it is exactly the kind of reason why Wenger is very wary of English players.
We had JET driving without an insurance and trying to flee the police.
    Sanchez Watt doing something similar.
    Gilbert had also been arrested.
Remember when Jermaine Penant getting caught drunk driving while already suspended and pretending to be Ashley Cole when arrested.
I do not remember Eboue, Senderos, Fabregas, Nasri, Vela, Djourou, Pires, Viera, Bergkamp ever getting arrested in their entire career.
Wilshere may not have been unprofessional but at least he showed bad judgement.
From the noise I have received from people who purported to be there, that may be the necessary wake up call that he needed.
If you associate yourself with bad people, they will drag yourself down.
You have to accept that because you are famous you are more likely to attract unsavoury characters even if at first they seems quite funny, charming and even friendly initially. Ask Paul Gascoigne and his so called friend ‘Two bellies’.

    Well said, Valentin.

What I don’t get is the “in the early hours” bit. He’s supposed to be a professional athlete. He gets paid to keep in shape. What is he doing there at that time of day(night)?!

He left a nite club at 2.45am Wooooooh that is soooooo late, I bet you 2 Nuns have never even seen that time of night before have you? Plus he is teetotal, that means he doesnt drink.

Leaving a nite club like that, then trying to stop a fight.

Oh my, we are dealing with such an unprofessional criminal thug here. He will be masterminded armed bank jobs any day now.

I happen to know a few people who know Jack Wilshere and from what I’ve heard he’s turned into a bit of an arsehole and has shunned mates since becoming a household name,he also apparently has a bit of that young attitude where everything is sorted out through fighting so I wouldn’t put it past him, hopefully not though because he’s a great little player and would hate to see him waste his talent
