Freeman Suffers Suspected Broken Leg

Luke Freeman has been taken to hospital in Somerset for a scan on a suspected broken leg. The Arsenal striker started this third game of a season long loan spell with Yeovil Town today, but was taken off just before half time and rushed to hospital.

Freeman was victim of a horrible challenge from behind and manager Terry Skiverton was notably concerned about how the referee handled the fixture. Speaking to Town’s official website after the game, Skiverton said;

“There were a few tackles against us that were close to the mark and Luke (Freeman) has been caught on his shin.”

“He’s going for an X-ray. We think it could be a broken leg so we’re hoping that doesn’t prove to be the case.”

The Bristol Rovers defender was not booked for his tackle on Luke.

Update: Yeovil Town have confirmed Luke has not suffered a fracture to his leg, but he does face time out. More details on how long he faces out expected on Monday.

Typical English thuggish kicklegball. England will amount to F all in the International stage if this isn’t clamped down upon.

Let’s hope Luke is ok and does not have a boken leg. It would be terrible for Luke after only three games on loan, and terrible us Arsenal fans to have to see our fourth player suffer a borken leg in just four years.

tackles from behind should be dealt read no matter what. just because you didn’t break someones leg doesn’t mean the tackle is ok.

is it ok to shoot a gun towards someone and say “hey, I missed him so no probs” ?

apparently his leg hasn’t been fractured, according to the official website. the tackler is still probably a c**t though.

Maybe its time for a split in the game as in Rugby. The kickers & crunchers & “Big English centre forwards” can all play “Thugger” with each othert whilst the technical skills & arts that we all want to watch will remain as casualty free Association Football.

Some people said right off the bat that this would happen. It wasn’t me but I clearly remember people saying that this would happen. And now it has, and now his chances at Arsenal have taken a knock just because he is injured and won’t be able to prove anything to anyone through no fault of his own.:(

Apparently Bristol Rovers came with the Fat Sam “kick them hard and if they don’t go down, kick them harder” attitude. When the referee doesn’t realise, or worse doesn’t care. what it going on, then this will happen time and time again.

english referes are more focused on the flow of the game than the tackles
dont blow your whistle it will slow the game down and these idiots keep fouling

if they did what every other referee in the world does then we will see a lot less promising careers go down the drain and england might even win a wc once in a while

i have no knowledge of bristol rovers so i don’t know if they are indeed dirty.

but sometimes players go into tackles wrong, not maliciously. it is usually the refs job to get a hold of it. sure, unfortunate for luke, but at least it’s not broken

JS remeber Ryan Smith? He was amazing broke through the carling cup team than bang broke his leg same with aliadiere.

jeremie Aliadiere for me was one of the best arsenal youngsters i have ever seen. The kid had been dogged with injuries.

Henri lansbury another he was starting to put in some big performances than bang got an illness than got a massive injury.

Aaron ramsey another bang aleg breaker.

Matthew conolly another player i thought was brilliant. But too many injuries

And it really does make me sad watching Rhys Murphy the kid was an awesome talent but agains injuries have stopped his development.

I just hope the same doesnt happen to Freeman a player i think could break into the arsenal fisrt team

not all tackles that can cause serious injuries are worth a booking. look at Jody Craddock’s challenge on Kenwyne Jones yesterday – he might have seriously injured his knee but he didn’t get a booking, because he clearly won the ball.

Doesn’t matter if you won the ball or not it’s whether the ref thinks it’s a dangerous tackle

@dave no way! he got the ball followed through like an idiot red card that was intent watch it in slow motion he literally clamped jones legs afterwards thats not a clean tackle thats get the ball and break his leg attitude again its sickening its no fault of the defender he’s to fast oh he just wanted to show he’s there yeah why not slap him in the face and elbow drop him afterwards like wrestling?

I have said it again and again he’s too good for league one but most of you were happy to see him go to league one
now do you see what happens at league one its like playing american football without the padding
Technical players as Andrew said are murdered there. In league one no one cares about playing football its smash, kill

QPR was the right choice and he didnt take it now he will waste a year on the sidelines and then niggling injuries
There goes a promising career down the drain

Lets face it, I am a huge Wenger fan and all that but this game had so many bad components to it.

ALMUNIA- Same old, same old but it looks like we are getting a new keeper.
SAGNA- Why is he such a bad crosser. He floats in every cross and never looks to actually pick out a player.

WILSHERE- Lets face it, he had a bad game but my question is why did he play so deep? He is an attacking midfielder and all his attributes are made to be high up the field. Plus considering his age, he is going to make some mistakes and you don’t want those to be in the defensive part of the pitch. He isn’t really ready to play in the center with all the responsibilities. He should be on the right midield where he can use his attacking skills more freely.

NASRI- Links up great and all that but he just doesn’t do much in the final third as far a picking out the decisive pass. I don’t think he actually created 1 goal scoring oppertunity.

EBOUE- For a 4-3-3, you need true top quality wingers who score goals and get assists. (because of the lack of 2nd striker to do this like in a 4-4-2) Eboue to me is a right back and a last choice winger. How many goals combined do you think we had in our front 3? Check the stats from last year.

CHAMAKH- Now that we are pass the over hyping him stage, i think you guys see what he is. Depth and a decent player. He doesn’t strike fear in any centerback. Great signing on a free but he is a 3rd choice player.

ARSHAVIN- I read an article today that said his leg was hurting him. If that is the case that Arshavin should not be out there. (He is my favorite player) If he isnt injured, he looked simply past his prime. He lacked any pace and really did nothing.

With that being said, this clearly game clearly showed alot of issues but it was more revealing than discuraging. The game revealed what can be expected out of inviduals and what needs to be improved on. It also shows what players roles should actually be in the club. Hopefully Wenger realizes it though. That is the one thing that i think Wenger some times struggles with. He ussually just sticks with his beliefs through thick and thin. Senderous is an example of that. Lets see what happens in the next few games.

what are all you guys crying about
we had RVP, Cesc, Song, diaby only match fit, denilson, arsha half injured and no real keeper

if liverpool are real CL candidates (which they are) then a draw against them is awesome with all these players out

Feel sorry for Kos though red carded on his opening game and cole red card was harsh but his challenge was stupid and we have lost a lot of players injured through stupid tackles and I am happy ref did something about it
Chamak is exactly the kind of player we needed a person who’s not afraid to challenge the keeper in the air and speaking about keeper Al showed once again how stupid his positioning is he allowed the same kind of goal against Barca and here again

We need schwarzer and should get a CB by the end of next week

Imagine how liverpool would have done without
Gerrad, Mash, Cole now that would be something else

Wilshere did really well for an 18 yr player playing at anfield and diaby as a DM did I say or did say it
I would have preferred Walcott though over Eboue although he did ok
A Draw against pool was a good result hopefully by the end of next week we will have a new keeper, Djourou will be fit by then, and a new CB on the way

    Razz Razz Razz

    EDIT
Its is funny though how many times did we dominate the games last year but didnt win, how many times did people say they controlled the game but still ended up losing it, I can think of at least 9-10 games and today we were the dominant force in the first (statistically at least) but pool were the better team overall and we still ended up drawing the match with a LONG BALL are we still Arsenal aren’t we. Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

Just saw the stats from the game
    Possession Arsenal 58% – Pool 42%
    Shots on Target – Arsenal 7 – Pool 4
    Shots off Target – Arsenal 7 – Pool 3
    Saves – Arsenal 7 – Pool 3
    Yellow cards – Arsenal 3 – Pool 1

without those stats why does it look we were better

Mate, I am making constructive critisism. Complaining is just saying we suck, blah blah blah. Everything i said is pretty much fact. Tell me one thing i was wrong about please. On the Chamakh thing, are you kidding me. Did you watch the game? Chamakh is an average player. A squad player. Yes he won one ball in the air and had one nice spin move. Like i said, it is pretty obvious what he is, a good squad player.

  • August 15, 2010 at 7:41 pm

Also you say Eboue did “ok”. That is the point mate. Are we trying to be “ok” or win the league? Yes Wilshere is 18 but age doesn’t really matter when starting in a league game. We all know what he will become, but no way he should be playing a deep lying midfield role. It doesn’t make sence.

what a joke, a player could well have a broken leg yet the ref doesn’t even give a yellow.

the FA are the most stubborn b******s ever, oh if a ref seen the incident he can not go back on his decision, i right you pricks. i think refs should be made comment on their decisions after the match.

Mr wenger continuous belief in players like arshavin, is like forcing a toothless lion to eat meat.Arsenes belief in this team is like forcing a cripple horse to walk.Lets take for instance the cesc situation, the fact that mr wenger, because of his stupid ego refused to buy some player that will assist cesc win a title,to consolidate his status as a world class player he is beyound me.cesc has won world cup and european cup with his country, but back to club level he has won nothing.he has watched players like busquet win champions league and laliga.cesc has no justifiable reason to remain with arsenal.Mr wenger is too selfish and egoistic.Back to the team stuff, arsene plays 5 central mid milders without a winger, arsene stupidly thinks that he can win the league with 2 center backs and flopy keeper.Arsene is simply ridding we fans.its time for him to go.
