Loanees – Watt & Bartley As Freeman Returns

Welcome to this weekends Loanees Watch – Young Guns’ analysis, reports and updates on the progress of the young starlets currently plying their trade away from the Emirates Stadium. You can read all the latest reports below.

Kyle Bartley played the full 90 minutes for Sheffield United as they lost 1-0 to Middlesbrough. Bartley turned in a solid shift, winning various headers and keeping Kris Boyd quiet for much of the game. However, Boyd managed to get clear of Kyle and bag the winner in the 52nd minute.

Sanchez Watt completed the 90 minutes for Leeds United against close rivals Millwall at Elland Road. Watt began the move which led to Lloyd Sam’s equaliser. Sanchez used his pace down the left wing before intelligently cutting the ball inside for Howson who setup Sam. Watt was excellent all game as Leeds won 3-1.

Luke Freeman managed to pass a late fitness test and start for Yeovil against Hartlepool. Town lost 2-0 with Freeman turning in a mixed performance on the left of midfield. Luke was taken off after 56 minutes.

Francis Coquelin came off the bench to play the final 30 minutes against Marseille at the Velodrome. Lorient were comfortably outplayed and lost 2-0, but Coquelin did come on help protect the back four in the closing stages.

I watched a bit of the Leeds match, and the highlights later on, and I thought Watt was fantastic. He played a no.10 role and was involved in absolutely everything, he was the fulcrum of the Leeds attack. Even the Millwall manager said after the match he was excellent and they really struggled to pick him up.

Wenger said yesterday that one or maybe two signings would be coming. I don’t think he would have said that unless there had been at least an agreement in principle with one of the targets and his club. So yes, based on the talk, it looks like Squilacci.

I still think that a different GK than the usual two is what we need the most.

I concur, it looked more like morgan’s fault from what i saw, its good to see kyle and sanchez playing at such a high level, hopefully watt will be able to impress in the championship and fight for a place. hard place for young coquelin to come on, but i think he’s developing mentally from this spell. good to see luke back as well, it would be nice to see him play up front a bit more though.

Decent signing will be good cover im quiet happy with it. Wenger knows what he’s doing he wouldn’t sign him if he wasn’t good enough

I’m so sad that everybody are talking about JET, Eastmund, Lansbury…(ofc with right) but nobody talking about Watt, I think he is one of our best young players.

The article on Sevilla’s official website basically says that an agreement had been made and the transfer would go through subject to a medical that Squillaci will undergo on Monday.

@Ivan, I agree. I was very impressed by Sanchez-Watt in the pre-season 2 years ago. He was quite a good dribbler, which is somewhat of a rarity for an English player.

Watt is great and i hope he keeps improving all season long. this was only the 3rd or 2nd match? Imagine a whole season injury free for Watt. What a player he could turn out to be for us next season. Hopefully he learn to score goals also and not only show great link up play. but to score goals yourself is not everything, it’s equally if not more important to make your team mates look great.

I was afraid Wenger was starting to forget about what a player Watt is. Sad he wasn’t part of the pre-season squad but it was probably because Arsenal and himself had decided to join leeds and Arsenal wanted to make sure he would not be injured.
