News Round Up – Lansbury, Watt, Bartley & Barazite

Henri Lansbury was a second half substitute for England Under 21’s as they beat Uzbekistan 2-0 last night. Henri was surprisingly left on the bench as Everton’s Jack Rodwell took the holding midfield role. Lansbury should feature in the coming weeks as England face two Under 21 qualifiers.

In loanees news, Sanchez Watt played the full 90 minutes for Leeds United in the Carling Cup and he claimed two assists as The Whites sent Lincoln City packing. Watt set up the first two goals with great crosses. Luke Freeman was also in action for Yeovil Town who were also knocked out. Kyle Bartley played the final few minutes of Sheffield United’s tie at Hartlepool, but The Blades were comfortably beaten 2-0.

Nacer Barazite impressed the Rangers management and will stay in Glasgow training with the Scottish Champions for the next few weeks, according to a statement on their official website. Barazite was the best player on the pitch in the 2-1 defeat to Glentoran and admitted afterwards he would be keen to play his football at Ibrox next season.

Finally, a massive congratulations to Arsenal pair Jack Wilshere and Kieran Gibbs who both made their full England debuts this evening. Gibbs and Wilshere were substitutes in the second half and both showed some nice touches as the Three Lions beat Hungary 2-1 at Wembley. The future looks very bright for the pair.

Gibbs was gliding on the pitch and linked nicely with Young. He looked positionaly suspect on a few occasions but that will improve with age ofcourse. He seems to be fully recovered from his injury and that’s a good sign for us.

How the fuck was Wilshere supposed to impress when he was only given 7 minutes to play?? Hopefully he will be given more match time in the next friendly?? I guess it all depends on how he performs for us this year. Which is how it should be. I still wish he was given a bit more of a chance against Hungary:S

Gibbs is a monster :D truly a brilliant prospect. Now I’m really wondering what will happen if Clichy stays fit, will Gibbs suddenly reveal he’s a Spud fan or something else.

Wilshere wasn’t playing to keep his place in the team, he just got a reward from Capello, you don’t really think he will call him for the qualifiers.

Wilshere should be used as a sub but he will be involved
Gibbs is second choice to Cole now and maybe after the euros first choice
Walcott I don’t know if he plays like he did yesterday will be first choice on the right

Does anybody know what the proposed deal would be with Rangers if Barazite signs. Is it a permanant move or is just a loan.

Thanks for the info and link, I have always hoped Nacer would make the grade. What I have seen of him, he seems the kind of player that needs to be part of a quality team to allow him to play to his skills, this was lacking at Derby, but hopefully he will find it at Rangers.

Its permanent by the looks of it
Barazite has a year on his contract so unless we extend it it will be permanent

wilshere wasnt used to impress mate..he was there for the experience and to get a taste of what it,ll b like in the future..hes not ready for a key role give him time..i think capello used him spot on

as for gibbs ive never doubted him hes absoulutely brilliant on the ball and i think he will b the best left back in the world on day..im confident of that,he,s one of them players who can play anywhere and he is better than clichy expect to see them 2 play together alot this season especially away from home

lets not forget walcott..altho we,ve seen it all b4 with him,he looked very sharp and confident hopefully he can continue this form and have a injury free season

I hope Wenger has the courage to play Gibbs in some of the bigger matches this year. Ever since he has been the 1st team I thought he would be great. I felt terrible for him 2 years ago against ManU in the champions league, but that never diminished my expectations and impression of a very strong and talented individual!!

The mistake against Man Utd made him.The pain he felt for letting the team down, yet in reality he had been thrown in from the reserves.Wenger protecting him when he wanted to prove his worth and the injury he sustained when he had claimed Clichys spot will make him more determined than ever to prove his worth…………..and thats priceless.

I thought he had a very good first half but his final ball could be better, but i will cut him some slack because he was probably desperate to impress Capello and was probably trying a bit to hard, but Gibbs looked very comfortable in an England shirt tonight even though it was only a friendly match.

With all the buzz that seems to be going around barazite’s trial. I do not think it is just for a loan. Which other player for arsenal had this much hype on a trial before going off on a loan? Another interesting thing is that barazite seems to have only 1 year left on his contract. So, if this is a loan, you would expect barazite to commit to a longer term contract before going off… Or the other way It might be a loan with an option to buy… Either way, if he does go off, it would be very sad. He has the physique to make it in England. Was looking forward to him coming into the first team. Hope I am wrong though.

Just saying but I thought Gibbs, although highly involved didn’t appear to have a clue that he was supposed to be playing LB. He was forever ahead of the play, he let guys run in behind him and on the goal he’s just all over the place imo.

Very mixed performance for me and nothing like as good defensively as Cole.

I think he’s more in the sort of Denilson position – not necessarily a Makelele style ball winner, but a 2-way support guy.

strong Schwarzer to Arsenal rumours today .three way transfer .Almunia to Aston Villa Friedel to Fulham

Wilshere only played a few minutes because he’d spent the night in hospital with abdominal pains – that’s according to something on arsenalnews dot net, but I don’t know if it’s true.

I’d forget about the keeper rumours; there has never been a shred of evidence that we bid for Schwarzer or that he put in a transfer request. Yes, I know even the Telegraph (who ought to know better) announced this yesterday, only to print a denial three hours later! It’s just all made up, and has been throughout the summer. But I can’t help wondering whether, if the worst happens and Wenger can’t find a defender he likes and thinks is value for money, he might go for a holding midfielder instead and use Song as centre-half cover instead. Real are going to sell one or other of the Diarras and perhaps van der Vaart too, who we nearly signed last summer. Though I doubt we’d take back Lassana Diara, good though he is, I wouldn’t be surprised if he or van der Vaart weren’t available cheap for a last-minute deal. Better than not signing anyone, in my view.

he was sick and return from hospital at 5 am
not sure if he will be ok for the pool game
      we might just see Lansbury

Wilshere’s abdominal pains: it does seem to be true. Gunnerblog, which is usually reliable, confirms it with a quote from Capello, but rather worryingly he points out that Wilshere had the same pains the day before the Warsaw game. No, it’s not appendicitis – he’s had it out already – but recurring pain doesn’t sound good, so let’s hope they find out what’s causing it and get it sorted out fast.

Mmm, Lansbury v Liverpool? We’ll have Nasri for the playmaker role, Arshavin on the left, Rosicky, possibly Diaby or Denilson, and hopefully Song and Frimpong in the middle, plus Eboue or Walcott on the right, so we should OK, more or less, with Lansbury starting. No Vela presumably as he’ll be jet-lagged, but van P might get a few minutes – did he play for the Netherlands yesterday? Otherwise, it’ll be JET off the bench?
