Ramsey Handed Prestigious Wales Award

Aaron Ramsey was awarded the The Football Association of Wales’ Young Player of the Year award at a prestigious ceremony in Cardiff last night.

The midfielder is on the cusp of returning to full time training with the Arsenal first-team and kick starting his come back from a badly fractured fibia. Ramsey has been in light training for a number of months, all over seen by the club’s latest additions to the coaching staff, experienced physio Simon Harland and strength coach Marcus Svensson.

It’s hoped that Aaron will be step up his program after the international break and run outs for the Reserves are already being planned.

Ramsey reminded Wales fans what they’re missing by being awarded the Young Player of the Year award at The Cardiff City Stadium last night. He was hailed for a ‘coming-of-age’ performance in his last fixture for Wales – a 3-0 friendly win over Scotland in November 2009 – in which he scored once and setup two goals.

Caretaker boss Brian Flynn hopes to have the youngster back in his plans for the Euro 2012 qualifier with England next year.

Aaron’s character will be tested this time, if he can comeback for his injury stronger than ever then I can happily bet he will be one of the greatest players to have played for arsenal
Aaron becoming better than Cesc? is a question that can only be answered over time but Aaron’s qualities are as good as Cesc if not better
Aaron has excellent vision and passing ability
      Eye for a goal
      Strength
      Work rate
      and leadership skills

The only player that can take over Cesc in the long term is Ramsey and players like him are the rarest in the world because they have a sixth sense and can sense play before it happens

Hopefully Aaron will come back physically and mentally strong. The thought of him and Jack in the midfield playing next to each other, does make me excited!

Great news for me a quality player and someone who could go on to be better than cesc fabregas.

Hes a great lad as well.

We could have really done with someone like him against chelsea.

Ramsey is like fabregas hes so effective can create chances and score goals.

I agree with this. I have told a few of my mates that he can be better then Cesc. They just looked at me funny! But seriously if you see what this kid does for Wales, you will be blown away.

Did you see what he did to Darren Fletcher?…HE BEAT HIM ONE ON ONE WITHOUT TOUCHING THE BALL!

Ramsey hes 6ft, hes big, strong, and hes quicker than fabregas.

But hes got more to his game than fabregas.

fabregas has got excellent vision, and scores goals.

But ramsey is capable of that plus he can defend as well. And hes got the ability to go past players with skills, tricks, glides past players

He can play as a holding midfielder, central midfielder, winger, full back.

And hes only 19 hes going to be class. I cant believe we got him for £5 million what a bargain

Such fantastic news for Arsenal, Aaron and the world of football! This kid is going to be as good if not better than Cesc and Gerrard! If he can make a full recovery and return to the level he was before that crazy tackle, then with the likes of Ramsey, Wilshere, Song, Diaby, Nasri, Denilson, Frimpong, Lansbury Arsenal have no worries about their midfield for a few years!!!

I’m hoping he comes back stronger than ever. If his leg break was too traumatic, I’m getting on the first plane to England and burning Shawcross’s house down.

Well said Scott. Can”t believe that chimp Shawcross got away with only a 3 matchban! Rediculous! Same w/Taylor on Eduardo and even De Jong on Ben Arfa this weekend. These apes need to be banned for4-6 months for such tackles!

Ramsey can be great but to compare him to fabregas is ridiculously premature. Yes, he may have more going for him physically than cesc, and he certainly has a lot of skill to go with that but you could say that about plenty of players throughout europe. Cesc’s football brain is just amazing. With such a modest physique he can run matches and score goals at any level. Imo he is the best attacking midfielder around currently.
I hope aaron can be as good or better than fabregas, and I wouldnt put it past him, but it’s far too early to be making comments like that. At the moment I just hope he can come back from his injury to be at the level he was last season.

      Well said Davi.

Ramsey is very talented but to become as good as Cesc will be a very tall order. At 23 years of age he is already the best midfielder in the world, and he’s surely going to be one of the best players ever.

For players like Cesc, Bergkamp, etc., 90% of their talent is in their head. Their phenomenal awareness is what elevates them above the rest. Ramsey might well have that extraordinary talent (and there are signs he does), but if he doesn’t then being slightly stronger, or quicker, or taller is not going to make him a better player than Cesc.

If Ramsey can become 80% of the player Cesc is, he will still be a fantastic footballer.

so happy to hear great news like this. And this is Azza’s second award in less than a year too (iirc he got Welsh Young Player of The Year last November too)

can’t wait to see him back on action on pitch. He came so well last season, I have faith he’ll continue his impressive development when he return

lets not get too exited, the kid only comes back after a horror injury, he has missed a lot of development time because of this and it could be 6 months to 1 year before he gets back to pre injury form, provided be can battle the mental side. Would had thought we as fans would know this by now as its not the first time we have had players out due to leg break, even Djourou missed a year yet he is no ware near his usual levels, but like all fans I do dream he (Rambo)comes back quickly and playing like before by x mass, like i said dream..

    JS,

I just read that Cedric Evina has been loaned to Oldham, and that the loan is only for a month? Is this true? And if so, what’s the strategy behind 1-month loans? Doesn’t seem to benefit anyone really.

Are we looking to off-load him and offering Oldham a month to decide if the want to take him permanently?

I think its like a taster as he cant break into the 1st team, so we want to see if he can handle all those pressures, think PD mentioned there is a possibility of extending the loan, I remember Watt went to league team on short term loan did not work out came back and went to Leeds.

I thought it is the usual policy though, giving out one month loans. Even Szczesny was first loaned for a month, gradually extending it bit by bit until it was finally extended till the end of the season

I actually think ramsey would have been better than Fabregas

I have been watching Fab4 since 2004 and when he was 19 he was not as good as Ramsey 19 honest

Wilshere is 18..and actually playing better than 18 year old Fabregas

Still not convinced about Ramsey, but I hope the injury hasn’t affected his confidence much.. He’s a decent player with a lot of talent, but Cesc he ain’t and I don’t think he ever will be.. Interesting to see where AW will fit him in and who will miss out.. Lotta players for a few places if Cesc, Song, Arshavin or Nasri are guaranteed starters..

Song a guaranteed starter? you are having a laugh. I must say, his lack of discipline the season is the reason arsenal is suffering with the team shape. I’d rather have Denilson.

both ramsey and wilshere can play disciplined roles and get forward at the right time. no need for a pure dm as we’ll have 2 box to box animals in JW and AR

As much as I would hope Rambo returns to that level he was playing before the injury, I don’t see it happening. Victims of similar challenges (Eduardo, Diaby, Cisse, A.Smith – prat) never recover to play close to or better than they were. Only person you might make a case for is Diaby but he was on the cusp of being a squad player and was used sparingly since he just joined the team less than a year.

Maybe I’m being pessimistic but being able to recover in such a short time is a miracle in itself. I remember Dudu was starting to find his stride in the EPL then suffered that horrific tackle. He never was quite the same and 2yrs later is no longer with the team. You definitely lose something with an injury like that whether its psychological, physical or that mental edge. But, I would love for Ramsey to be ultimately Cesc successor as the catalyst of our team for years to come along with JFW!

Aaron Ramsey is a bit different to Cesc Fabregas. We should let him express himself in his own unique way and lay off the “as good as Cesc” claims. Wilshere is different as well. Both these players have what it takes to be Arsenal greats!! That is the best part.

Ramsey wont show his best until next year
I hope wenger can keep Fabregas at Arsenal for another year and hopefully by then both Wilshere and Ramsey will be ready to take over
Song is a starter and yes he has started to express himself more in the midfield but we are now play 4-2-3-1 meaning the other holding midfielder can slot into SOng’s place

    Alex song has been terrible.

I think we missed a trick not signing a DM or be it fimpong got injured.

We need compeition in songs position. Hes getting too complacement thinks hea laready first choice.

I also have had enough of samir nasri. Hes not good enough for me.

Hes far too ineffecitve in midfield and does what denilson used to do 3 or 4 yearsago ie pass the ball sideways, backwards.

When ppl say arsenal just pass the ball for the sake of it and dont create anything its manily because of samir nasri and his reluctance to go foward, try and go past players, see a pass. Instead of hoggin it and switching play from right to left or left to right

Not a patch on Chuks, but still a decent talent nonetheless. The article i read earlier about how him and our Jack Wilshere will be running the England side in 2018 made me laugh. Ridiculous these journos, i tell you, ridiculous.

Man, we over hype so many players on here lol. Now with Ramsey, I am not saying he will be a great player because I believe he definitely will but saying he will be better than Cesc….come on people. Hell, Cesc is not even near his prime yet and look how good he already in. Seriously who gets 15 goals and 15 assists in 30 games from Centermid in a season.

What I am excited for is that as these top talents start to shine, injuries that always happen to us will not be an issue. Can you imagine our core central midfield 5 of Song,Fabregas, Wilshere, Diaby and Ramsey. Ridiculous. Then you can add Nasri as well. Denilson and Lansbury will always be good squad players in my eyes which you definitely need. The next one you could add is Chuks Aneke. If he fulfills his potential our central midfield is set for the next 10 years and even if Fabregas did end up leaving, We are still going to be in perfect shape.
