Ramsey Joins Nottingham Forest On Loan

Aaron Ramsey has signed for Nottingham Forest on loan. The Welshman moves on a short term deal, until January 3, 2011. There is no option for an extension on either side.

Ramsey, who played his first 45 minutes in nine months on Tuesday, will move to the promotion hopefuls in a bid to build up his fitness ahead of a return to Arsenal in the New Year.

Aaron has 50 first-team appearances for the Gunners but a break in Reserve team action is seen as the driving reason behind sending the youngster on loan.

You can follow Aaron’s progress with Nottingham in our regular ‘Loanees’ roundups.

I think this is a bit risky. I would of thought it would be better to stay with the club that knows his diagnosis, plus will he up for the rigors off championship football after 45 mins of reserve footie?? Strange

Mental decision on the face of it, at least it shows that they have faith in the extent of his recovery, blind faith perhaps. If he’s playing regularly for Forest by the end of January he should more than likely be ready for the 1st team. Depends how much game time he’s guna get. I’ll certainly be watching soem of the games like Coventry from behind the sofa

I tink it’s a good move,,, a few niggly injuries are inevitable!! Really disappointed dat jet is still here unless using him in the first team!! A loan to Blackpool or Blackburn til the end of the season would have been perfect

this seems a bit strange to me….

wenger said about a week ago that he wont be going on loan when he comes back..?

also why to the championship? its a very rough and physical league. anyway, surely if he wanted to loan him out, why not back to cardiff? that would make more sense to me

either way, its only just over a month till when the deal expires, so hopefully he will get some games and match practice back without picking up any more injuries

Totally shocked by this… Makes sense though, the rough side of the championship will actually benefit him, won’t make him so scared to get stuck in when he’s back.

well i would have thought it would be best to keep at arsenal for a few more weeks and let him play a few behind closed doors games to regain confidence and fitness, then maybe loan him out in january for a month to get some game time

then hopefully he will be in good shape by feb next year to play some first team games again

anyway, i guess wenger has seen him in training and knows what hes doing

Wow, that’s audacious. I hope he won’t suffer any effects of the long layoff and he’ll be firing all cylinders for us this Jan. Go Rambo!

    I’m bemused by this decision!!

We’re without Cesc for probably 3 weeks or more.

Diaby has a mystery leg injury with no return date set. (as far as I know).

Lansbury has just been sent out on loan and now Ramsey?!

That leaves us with Song, Denilson and Wilshere. Obviously Nasri or Rosicky are going to be drafted in to the centre with maybe RVP playing some wing at times with Theo, Arshavin and Vela.

Given we have a game every 3 days for the next 6 weeks, I don’t see why we’re allowing 3 players (Lansbury, Ramsey and JET) to leave.

Clearly no one on here knows exactly what is going on with the Ramsey recovery more than the Arsenal staff. It does seem a bit strange but who knows.

The thing i find really stupid is when people shout out clubs that our players should be going on loan to like Arsenal just drop these players off on the door step of clubs. It is a 2 way street with a loan deal. One club has to want to bring the player in and Arsenal has to want the player to go onloan there.

He’s hugely talented but I worry about his attitude, the rumours of all his drinking and partying don’t bode well.

It would certainly explain why a loan spell has been hard to come by, and the England youths keep overlooking him. Ian Holloway wasn’t too pleased with him either when he had him at Blackpool last season.

Sort it out JET! You’ve had your fun, now knuckle down and work.

Say it ain’t so!!!….not that I’m against him getting some game time but I’d really like for us to have some cover, particularly going into the Christmas period…..Particularly with the injuries we’ve seen in recent years…

John have you seen Nic doing anywhere near the level off skill that JET pulls of on a consistent basis

What i will say though is JET’s future is linked with Bendtners. Only 1 will or can stay. So i hope Nic keeps shouting his mouth off and puts in dismal performances and keeps being a sub so he leaves in the summer.

For me JET’s one of the biggest talents in the country

JET’s easily one of the biggest and underrated talents in the country. As for his attitude, i personally feel that the first team needs this. It seems like EVERYONE at Arsenal is a goody-goody. It sickens me. That French psychologist guy that works with our kids alluded to the fact they’re all great lads and they need to be intelligent to play for the Arsenal. I feel this is bollocks. You need different persona’s in the dressing room. That’s why we seriously lack leaders at this club. Everyone is told from day one that they must fall in line and listen and do whatever Master Wenger says.

That’s not the same thing though TJ.

There are plenty of players who who have a spiky personality or are arrogant, but those guys they work hard in training and demand similar standards from those around them. Cristiano Ronaldo is vain and arrogant but he trains very hard (bordering on obsessive) and that’s why he is as good as he is.

This is not about him being humble and quiet, or loud and obnoxious. A player can be either, but if he doesn’t work on his fitness, drinks too much, etc. then he’s wasting his talent.

      TJ,

      …this is interesting thinking.

Personally, I think all this talk about JET’s attitude is bullshit. It’s hearsay and rumor that has been, for the most part, started and then confirmed on these boards.

Still though, you make an interesting point. I have always thought that it was a great skill of AW and the coaching staff to identify and bring in players who were good solide kids and very intelligent.

But it has become painfully apparent this season that the biggest missing piece to this group becoming champions is mental toughness. I don’t know if injecting some ‘bad boys’ into the mix would strengthen the team’s mental fortitude, but it’ an interesting question.

I think your right though in the general sense, it’s probably better to have a diversity of character and personality in the team, if they learn to use the diversity to their strengths.

      @KC

There are certain things which have been just rumours, and probably even exaggerated by the press to make the “young footballer being naughty” story even more juicy.

But just going by the facts I think we can have reason to believe JET isn’t giving his all. Wenger and Ian Holloway have both alluded to that fact, that maybe he doesn’t realise how much potential he has and isn’t making the most of it at the moment. And JET’s baffling omission from England U21s must also be a sign that his attitude or workrate wasn’t satisfactory, because there’s no doubt he’s talented enough to be included. England did the same thing to Man Utd’s Ravel Morrison.

And in my opinion, JET doesn’t look very fit. He’s still not finished his physical development, but I’m always surprised by how ‘soft’ and lacking in muscle tone his thighs look. Aneke is 2 years younger but looks like the more powerful, muscular player. That might just be because of a different build or genes of course.

Anyway, I hope this doesn’t sound like some John-esque rant against JET, I think he’s amazingly talented and could be not just world class but a Ballon D’Or winner. But I’ve lowered my expectations of him a little bit, I have my doubts over whether he can apply himself enough and truly realise his full potential.

And I hope he gets some chances soon, I think that could give him a lot of encouragement to put in more work and grow up a little bit.

I happen to think this will be a good move for him,Billy Davies aint a stupid man and he will use him when needed. I reckon that the physical nature of the championship will help him recover nicely come january, the league may be a little more physical than the premiership but it’s slower which means less quick impact challenges which means he will toughen up with less risk of a repeat of what happened to him prior. This can only be good for us. Ok we have Cesc,Diaby,Frimpong injured,Lansbury out on loan but we have enough there to use during the christmas period in Song,Wilshere,Denilson,Nasri,Rosicky,Jet,Eastmond, even Nordtveit (who I reckon will be a class act) and Gibbs can play in the middle so no need to panic just yet, what would Ramsey offer us right now if we kept him?
    Good luck Rambo!

That behind the back elastico was ridiculous in that video. On this issue of arrogance and attitude. Some players need that to be good. You need arrogance to do a behind that back elastico on 2 defenders. It is just you need balance. There are plenty of cases where this attitude is good and plenty where it is bad. We just have to take it as an individual case. Look at players like Henry. Do you really think he did no partying?

Exactly! football players are individuals. Ronaldo likes to party and is very arrogance and think he is the best all the time. While messi is more humble type. JET acts like a pro on the pitch and he has probably always been one of the countrys best football player. That might why we think he act like he has already made it, but guess what. He has made it so far already and is not showing anything to settle down. Don’t forget hes only 19 years old and at this age you just discovered the party life and all the gold digger girls. let him have his fun as long as he play good on the pitch. none of us are professionals so who are we to judge really? JET talk with the world class players daily and get advices daily from them. He is in good hands.
