Charlton Hopeful Of Ansah Deal

Charlton Athletic are hopeful of agreeing a loan deal for Arsenal striker Zak Ansah. The England Under 17 international is expected to move to the The Valley next season.

Ansah is still finding his feet at Arsenal after signing scholarship terms last summer, but the Addicks, who are managed by Zak’s Godfather Chris Powell, are hoping to seal a loan move.

It’s not yet clear whether the deal would happen at the start of the campaign, or later on, but his father confirmed he is set to make the move across London next year in an interview with the Charlton match day program.

“Zak’s at Arsenal until he’s 19 and we’re pleased with his progress. Our plan is that he is strong enough and good enough next year to be able to come on loan to The Valley.”

Andy Ansah, a former professional footballer turned TV personality, is a life long Charlton fan and enjoys a close relationship with manager Powell. Zak would follow in the foot steps of Luke Freeman and Benik Afobe, who both virtually bypassed Reserve team football to play in League One.

Glad for the lad, he looks like he has something about him, and it’s a good solid club to try and show it at. and with Chris Powell there, as his godfather, I can’t see him holding back with advice.
He looked calm and composed taking his goal superbly at the Dallas Cup, so good luck to him.

Ansah is a poacher and a consistent goal scorer no doubt about that
but he was disrespectful to arsenal and I doubt any arsenal fan will forget that

after the fuss caused by ansah jnr’s declared love of manchester united, i think his father should be less provocative than to state “at arsenal until he is 19″….does that mean he will be looking for a move at the end of his current contract?
arsenal have invested heavily in zak (not just footballing education) so we expect some loyalty….but i think andy is a mercenary with a plan………

Wow, I didn’t see that one coming. He is only 16 so he’s still got two more years eligibility at Under-18 level let alone the reserves. I think it will be a good move for him and we should be grateful he’s got a close connection to Powell, even though he probably won’t play a lot he’ll be training with the first team and at 17 that can only do him good. It also means that with Murphy and Freeman probably going on loan, Roberts, Monakana and Neita can push on and at least one of them could become a reserve regular. Hope it pulls through and could sweeten the deal for Jenkinson.

Rather than saying he is crap how about you wish him the best and hope the loan spell can improve him as a player. he can learn a lot from being around a first team squad. Of course nothing is guaranteed and it might not be the most successful loan spell ever, but you deal with that when and if that is the case.

i hope he enjoys his time, gets a few games and comes back to Arsenal a better player.

Not quite sure what some people think they’re achieving with the negative posts. Good luck to him, sounds like he’ll have a great level of support. Whether he makes it at Arsenal or not is beside the point, most u18s won’t, but we do the honourable thing and offer our support regardless.

I hope Zak enjoys his time at Charlton, gets a good few games and learns all he can from the experience.

Goals are bad…right John?? Goals aren’t what we want are they?? Oh no, no, no we couldn’t do with those at all. We need more players to hang around the edge of the area and pass the fucking ball around. We couldn’t do with couple of finishers to help take the load off of Van Persie (or should I say Van Basten, the form he’s in.) No we need more players who can link play and pass the shit out of the ball.

Good move for the lad. Charlton have a good reputation with the way they develop players, so they’ll hopefully offer him an opportunity to progress more quickly than in our Youths/Stiffs.

i can’t believe all the hatred ansah has been getting. How can anybody talk about his ability if he hasn’t played much. I don’t understand,I thought he explained that whole business with twitter, that someone else wrote it and he even said after that, he was an arsenal fan and even if he wasn’t, what does it matter.

i believe the remarks made about supporting man utd when they played against arsenal were made on facebook and that he had defended his position and not denied it….not a crime but unwise nevertheless…
i have seen him play as a schoolboy, u-16 and u-18 and whilst he has had the knack of being in the right place at the right time, it is difficult to envisage where he would fit into an arsenal team playing with a lone striker as with a slight build he lacks the necessary physical attributes.
my money would be on afobe as the better prospect in the long run.

I hope he does well for us at Charlton. We need someone who can pass the shit out of the ball!!
If he is even half as entertaining as Song was then we are in for a reat at our level.
Once Jenkinson get’s his confidence, and can beleive he’s suddenly at Aresnal, he will star for you. Great energy, and he’s direct.
He gets from back to front rapidly, and puts a mean cross in, instead of some of the bloody annoying overplay that you guys do (Great to watch, but bloody frustrating when the stupid fuckers should shoot)
Forgot to mention that Jenks also gets back after bombing forward.
Good luck to both the young lads, and we’ll take pride in knowing we’ve brought another cracker through our system.

I honestly don’t think you people have seen Zak play in the last 2 years. The fact he is a Man U fan means nothing. Walcott grew up supporting Liverpool and Cesc is a Barca fan through and through. The talk of a slight build is also bullshit. Look at RVP he’s not particuarly big is he? Zak is only 16 he will do what is natural and grow. He is also much more than a goal poacher, though his finishing is exemplary he is also excellent at bringing others into the game. Have you seen his first touch? Stunning. So stop complaining, he’s a great talent and Arsene loves him already so go suck an egg. Haters.

ability aside, the statement “at arsenal until 19” is disrespectful…lets not be naive, lucrative deals are cut to bring in the best young kids and, if they walk away at the end of their first contract, the club gets mugged.

Many people do not rate him because he has not played a lot of games and has not scored many goals this season and I understand that. I say let’s see how well he does in the next two seasons and then judge him.

heard we are also interested in him.

P.S. He is very highly rated in FM11.

Ansah did NOT disrespect Arsenal with the Man Utd Facebook fiasco. He was hacked. Apparently. That is what he told me himself via twitter. I believe him.
