Wellington To Get Pre-Season Chance

Arsène Wenger is expected to run the rule over Wellington Silva in pre-season, before deciding on the 18-year-old’s short-term future.

Silva is currently holidaying in his native Brazil, but has been told to report to London Colney for pre-season training next month. A number of European clubs, including La Liga outfit Levante, have already been in touch over a loan spell, but the club want to take a closer look at the forward.

Wellington is expected to move between the first-team and Neil Banfield’s Reserves when he returns to training, but its not yet clear whether he will actually play any games. How well he performs will help decide on what happens next, with Arsenal still having a spare application for a work permit for next season.

The most likely scenario is that Silva will go on loan again next term, but Spain may not be the most obvious destination. The Belgian media report Anderlecht have expressed an interest while unofficial link club Feyenoord may also be an option, if they decide against paying a loan fee for Ryo Miyaichi.

Silva will have extra holiday time after not being selected for the Brazil Under 20 side for the Under 20 World Cup.

How likely is he to get a Visa this summer? If he can get one this summer, arent we best to loan him to the Championship?

No, he would be best under Arsenal’s guidance getting proper attention and training for once.

Be good to see how he compares with Ryo if he went to feyenoord instead. On paper he should have twice the impact but his attitude says otherwise. Fingers crossed for a progressive season nevertheless!

I wonder what type of visa he gets that allows him to come over and train pre season. My Wife’s Sister wanted to come over for 4 days for our wedding kast month and was declined a visa.

Your wife’s sister did not need a tourist visa to visit for 4 days… You are allowed entry into the UK with a valid passport. Unless she maybe has a criminal record. The players are allowed to play unofficial games, just like I could go to London and kick the ball around in the park.

How I wish we could have a B team, or a feeder club. Can you imagine Miyaichi, Wellington, Aneke and Afobe all playing together in a strong European league?

This is why a B team would be awesome. Vela, Aneke, JET, Wellington, Ryo, Lansbury, Jenkinson, etc all getting to play the Arsenal way, get full games and play in competitive professional games. It would be a huge help.

Exactly, their progress and development could be so much better this way. Loaning out young players can be so unpredictable and frustrating, there’s no guarantee it won’t be a complete failure. For every Afobe or Miyaichi, there’s a Silva or JET.

These players have such a small window of opportunity from getting to the youth ranks to breaking into the first team squad, and unless they are a super-talent like Wilshere and make the jump immediately their future is put almost completely in the hands of those loan clubs.

At least it seems like the FA is realising that their set-up needs to improve, if their decision to increase the youth training hours to 10,000 is anything to go by. Hopefully they’ll give the idea of B teams in the lower leagues some very serious consideration soon.

The whole loan system is so unpredictable next year Miyaichi and Afobe could possibly struggle and Wellington and JET could shine even.
A B team would be so helpful even for the english national team.

Is it just me but why are arsenal asking a fee for miyiachi,in my opinion the best move would be feyenoord because hes already played their and maybe use to the city and his teammates so why are arsenal asking for a fee.So basically it is more important to arsenal to get a few 100k instead of a player potentially developing into a 15mil plus player.Looks like silva put some weight on

Could be a worthy player for Feyenoord, we are still looking for a scoring attacker. I doubt if Feyenoord can bring up the loansum for Ryo, we are really struggling with our finances. Both Wellington and Miyaichi will probably be placed in the starting-eleven, so it’s a great chance to develope themselves. :)

The way of Vela? Vela scores almost every time he comes on for our first team. People just need some patience. He will get his time and he will shine when he gets it. As for Bazarite, he just didn’t have the athleticism to make it at this level.

I know what you’re saying, but Vela still isn’t good enough, and I’m not sure he ever will be. He’s good off the ball in a central position and he’s a good finisher, but offers VERY little else. Unless we go to 2 strikers, where one striker (e.g. chamakh/RVP) holds the ball up and he looks to break the offside trap, he won’t make it, because he doesn’t (and probably never will) have the skills to play alone up front OR on the wing.

What are you talking about? His has played an entire season as a winger and did fine. He is very good on the ball and is very quick. The fact that he is such a great finisher just over shadows everything else. The problem is everyone expects players to be the finished product by the time they are 21. RVP did not hit his peak at 21.

Vela is very talented and is easily as talented as someone like pedro from barca. He needs to be more direct and aggresive with his runs and finishing i have a lot of time for the boy. This year he could breakthrough if he takes his chances.

I swear we would be the most dominant club in the world if England had different work permit regulations. The rules here limit Wenger and his scouting network who are far better then everyone else. We would have snapped up so much talent before their price sky rocketed. For god sake, we would have had Ronaldinho (who was the best player in the world at the time) on the invincables team plus Yaya Toure and Gervinho already for a lot less. Please change your rules England lol.

Yeah but we would never have had Fabregas or probably Flamini or the countless kids we snap up from foreign academies before they’re allowed to offer profession contracts if we didn’t have English rules. It’s true the work permit rules are harsh, but we (in theory) should do pretty well with european talent.

For one, we could have still had our kids snapped up. The date is just different, that is all plus they are not even on long contracts. Barcelona tried to tempt Afobe and Aneke before. besides just because one rule is good that doesn’t mean I can’t disagree with another rule.

Different topic but do anyone read the ESPN report that Barca have banned colour photocoping to save money on toner. That my friends is what happens when you “just pay the few extra millions” to secure every player that takes your fancy. Normally, the transfer amount relates to the wage so yes as frustrating as it is I support the clubs hardline approach

lavante needs to grow up, our best players wilshere, nasri, cesc are always on twitter. i dont see arsene dropping them.they came up with lame excuses about wellington.
maybe i am the only one here who’s against loanning our kids to sh*t clubs.they dont give them enough playing time because we are charging them. even feyenoord expect ryo to entertain their fans and win them games for free.
thats why i am strongly wishing arsene could try anything to get them work permits as soon as possible. for me its gonna the best summer signing….. with alex the ox of course!

I really wish arsene sells the players he wants to that have obtained ample opportunities to prove it and have so far cut the average trail. Whatever people bid one up it a bit to save face, take what ever the negotiations offer… blood in a few of these youngsters lets see what they are made off. People do not understand… arsenal creates stars…. if they make it somewhere else so what? it goes to prove that we evaluate talent efficiently regardless of the outcome. I have a feeling that with should be conservative with the signings. dont binge on it. We need a frimpong kind of speed and attitude in the DM position… someone thats willing to stick their nose in and get dirty. Im not advocating for him im just saying that there are boys in our team that with more competition would become gems. I applaud wenger for the things he’s doing… I watched the videos of arsenal this season and i must say i think he is a genius…. we play fantastic football. I just think he should let someone handle the defensive responsibilities as we did years when we won stuff. We are just unlucky, injuries at key moments away from taking it all in at least a couple of years ago. In a nutshell i am really interested in this preseason for the first time in a long time.

I think we should go back to 4-4-2. I know we are stuck in it because of fabregas but i honestly think we have the players to play that formation perfectly in our posession, We have a lot of trailing forwards and Inside the box forwards that are also good at holding the ball up. We have good DM dat dont have to roam a lot as is required in 4-3-3 and would make them a lot more efficient… and so on and so forth. Cesc would adapt, thats what stars do. The really good ones figure it out. i mean the combinations at 4-4-2 would be crazy… I can already picture two arsenal teams out of the players we have that i believe on any day would be up for it and would give a good account but with 4-3-3, i dont see some people playing well, i mean what was with the Bentdner on the wings thing? I mean yes it was to develop him more but he looked like a fish out of water. Im not criticizing wenger before you all jump out in arms or maybe i am but im saying…… I think with 4-4-2, I think with the batch we have, I mean the formation already is based in Defensive stability. Which is what we employed years ago and Arsene was damn good at excuse my language. with the ability of our offense we become balanced. I mean wilsher and ramsey central or cesc and nasri or arshavin playing his favorite role behind Bendtner as they profess to play well with each other. Van persie behind Marouane i mean there are a lot of things to be explored to see if they work, Im not selling the magic potion to change all here im just voicing some of my thoughts.

4-3-3 is the most balanced formation if you have good enough players and are trained properly. To long to break it all down but it is. 4-2-3-1 is a cheap formation for me. It is the formation that you use if you are a coach that switches teams every couple years or for national teams because it is simple to break down and implement. 2 midfielders defend, 3 attack and you have a striker. 4-3-3 is a lot more complicated. As for 4-4-2/4-4-1-1, I think we all loved the old school Arsenal but that doesn’t mean it fits our players now. We are heavy with central midfielders and 2 years ago Song was not agile enough to play in the 4-4-2. Personally I am behind whatever formation Wengers wants but we have just as much quality as Barcelona to run the 4-3-3 if our players up their work ethics. Plus Fabregas is better from deeper positions.

Think about it…that team is set up perfectly for it.

By the way, this is why I am so high on getting a top wide forward. Look at that line up. That is the new Barcelona and Fabregas and Wilshere are the new Iniesta and Xavi and could even reach greater heights. The team is just lacking that “Messi”. Now of course there is not another Messi but there will be top wing talent coming through that will be world class. This is why my dream player for us to sign has always been Eden Hazard.

Just watched Ebicillio’s goal in the U17 world Cup, he took it really well, i never saw much from him last season, hopefully he will push on with the reserves first half of the season then get some loan time second half. He looks a much better player playing for Holland, perhaps its a settling in thing and we can look forward to great things from him. Just think with him Ozzy, Henderson, Aneke, Yennaris, Rees, Edge, Webb, Frimpong, Monakana, Bhimoutine, Galindo and Bunjaku there is some fantastic midfield talent coming through, however, they cannot all make it at Arsenal there is only about 2 years between them. Then there are the new reqruits, Gnaby, Toral, Olsson, Jeffrey and Hayden only a year younger. We are already struggling to find places for Lansbury, JET, Coquelin, Eastmond in the squad and have had to release 2 already in Deacon and Randall. There will be some tough calls to be made very soon

I really hope the kids from Arsenal watch this tournament and don’t think they are gonna have an easy task. The competition from around the world is immense. I don’t care about any of that BS. Everyone tries to make stories out of nothing. Considering you are limited to a range of like 90 miles to bring in real young talent, look at the number of English kids we have brought all the way from 9 or 10 years old that play out there in football. It is better then most english clubs and our working with english kids is not even really our thing because of the style of football english kids tend to play. Still we have produce tons of good players and a couple of the best english players England has ever seen in Wilshere and Cole. Now our thing is taking young 16 year old talents and turning them into world class players and scouting which are 2 of the hardest things to do in football. Screw the rest of the world if they have a problem with that. They all do the same but are just not as good as us at it.
