Arsenal Agree Deal With Stuttgart For Gnabry

Published on August 18th, 2010

Arsenal have agreed a deal with VfB Stuttgart to sign Serge Gnabry. The midfielder will complete the transfer in July next year after his 16th birthday.

Gnabry has now returned to Germany after a 10 day trial with the Gunners in which he featured in two behind closed doors friendlies, scoring in the second against Birmingham City. Young Guns revealed two days ago the two clubs were in negotiations for Serge’s signature, and we can now confirm an agreement has been reached. Arsenal are expected to hand over around £100,000 in compensation for the highly rated play-maker.

Serge, who is eligible to represent either Germany or Ivory Coast at international level, is a pacy, strong attack minded midfielder who can play on the right or behind the striker. He was a key part of the Stuttgart Under 16 side which won the Nike Cup earlier this year, picking up the Player of the Tournament award on the back of a 30 goal season.

Gnabry is expected to train with Arsenal during the Bundesliga winter break in January, giving him a chance to acclimatize to life in North London before his summer move.

It will be a great signing if he can go straight into the senior team.Frankly I am tired of these kids of high promise. Many of them have failed to fulfill their potentia.
That’s why Arsenal are stuck in a limbo.

Dumbass. Those who don’t make it get sold on for tidy sums. Those who do make it mean the first-team saves money, and gets a player bred the Arsenal way and ends up with excellent technique. Wenger says the Youth Team costs don’t negatively affect first team costs. 100,000 is nothing for a player.

We want players of today not tomorrow please Wenger
    we are tired of waiting.

I recall reading about this last night. Great news.

The next England Legionnaire: Gnabry moves to Arsenal

    News – International
    Monday, 16 August 2010 19:13 Clock

The 15-year-old attacking midfielder Serge Gnabry leaves the VfB Stuttgart and will move to the island to the English top club Arsenal.

Gnabry, the training, too in recent weeks as early as the Academy of London, has signed a four-year contract with the team of Arsene Wenger, who enters into force in July 2011. Serge Gnabry nominated for the upcoming U16 DFB course in Ruit on call will ensure that, in Loris Karius (Manchester City), Ronny Minkwitz (Fulham FC), Shkodran Mustafi (Everton FC) and Stephen Sama (Liverpool FC), the fifth England Legionnaire .

A 100,000 pounds that’s it for player of the tournament in the nike cup are you serious?
I dont know how good he is but this guys has pace, creativity and a knack for scoring goals and we got him for 100,000 pounds wow
I will go out on a limb and say that this will be on the best transfers of the decade if he fulfills his talent

  12. Posted by J.Sanderson on August 18th, 2010, 11:50 [Reply]

    To answer a couple of things;

From what I’m aware, Arsenal have not spoken to Fulham about Schwarzer since the first bid was rejected, so talk of a medical is far down the line.

You need to understand the youth development comes out of a different budget. This is not done by Wenger, leave him out of it. It’s a silly pop at him.

I told a few people about this last night, so it appears it’s been published elsewhere. He’s not signed a four year deal as suggested, it’s just a two year scholarship.

Great nasri out for a month – Roll on the injuries

    • Posted by Andrew on August 18th, 2010, 12:36

no worry dude we have plenty of cover now
if we lose a CB then I will be concerned other than fab will be back next week no need to worry

    • Posted by Phillip on August 18th, 2010, 12:48

Just a shame as he was coming on so well. The plus factor is jack should get more minutes now, espically as denilson is still not fit

Need to check the fixture list to see if there’s any tricky games coming up

    • Posted by Renan on August 18th, 2010, 12:52

Terrible news for him I wish him well because this is his make or break season.

    • Posted by Andrew on August 18th, 2010, 13:15

I am sad that he got injured but cesc will be back by then, denilson will be back and same goes for Song. On top of that we have Rosicky and Wilshere who can also play there
don’t mind his injury if he can fix the situation permanently rather than having a recurrence of the problem again and again for the entire season

  17. Posted by John on August 18th, 2010, 13:37 [Reply]

Armand traore i kind of feel sorry for him.

The thing is hes not really a left winger, left back hes got great pace can go past a player and whip a quality ball in but he doesnt have the creativity, guile, imagination to play as a lef winger

As a left back he doesnt know how to defend. I think he needs to go somehwere like benfica where he can learn new style. The portugese league suits wingers, wide players and help them develop into more skillfull, tactical wingers.

From that site Andrew posted earlier:

Serge Gnabry is not afraid. He is determined to be a professional footballer, when he speaks he does not beat around the bush: “I would love to someday play for Barcelona. That would be a dream.”

    He’ll fit right in.

BTW the platinum squad has been announced.

Frimpong, jay thomas, lansbury are all there thats why they werent in the Arsenal squad.

Should be some cracking games in Ireland

When are we going to grow out this young business…

  21. Posted by MONTY on August 18th, 2010, 15:50 [Reply]

We sign too many overseas players at youth level. Get developing our own for fuck sake

All summer its been embilicio (sp), galindo, japanese lad, now this lad.

Get some fucking english metal in the side. Look at uniteds youth system – british powerhouses who breed success and winning

And don’t go reeling off the lansbury, JET, Watt, wilshere bullshit none of these will make it as they’re in the wenger mould of look good first and win second.

If mourinho was in charge we’d have iron mental strength and winning would be in built

    • Posted by The Law on August 18th, 2010, 18:13

Jeez, JS. You sure get some cretins on this site.

    • Posted by shane on August 18th, 2010, 18:21

Yah, all that top english talent coming out of the Man united system right now……..wait who was the only english talent from there academy that plays a part in their first team? ………oh yah, fucking Paul Scholes.
I am pretty sure last time Man Utd won and important trophy they were lead by one of those pesky foreigners…..RONALDO. You are a dumb ass.

    • Posted by Anthony on August 18th, 2010, 20:04

Right. You know, like Chelsea’s English spine of steel that is Michael Essien and Jon Obi Mikel. Not soft foreign, diving players like Steven Gerrard and Wayne Rooney. Oh wait… did I get that backwards?

    • Posted by roonie rooke on August 18th, 2010, 23:54

mourinho does not do youth teams. He spends millions of the owners money.

    • Posted by shane on August 19th, 2010, 00:25

LOL. I really wish we had picked up essein when he was at Bastia considering wenger’s knowledge of france. Simply amazing player.

    • Posted by Keile on August 19th, 2010, 05:34

      Shane,

Paul Scholes didn’t come through the Man Utd system. He moved to Man Utd at 17.

  22. Posted by grant on August 18th, 2010, 16:41 [Reply]

with nasri out for the month will that mean wilshere may get a starting role

with fabregas song and diaby in mid
will wilshere be upfront with arshavin and van persie or is vp or chamakh playing on the wing .

  23. Posted by shane on August 18th, 2010, 18:13 [Reply]

If I was a youth coach, i would never take my teams to international tournement. If you have a good player, you know someone is going to take them so what is the point. O well, if we don’t get him, someone else will so i am glad we got him.

  24. Posted by C-Gunnz on August 18th, 2010, 21:26 [Reply]

They are talking about Squilacci to Arsernal on French TV. Would be nice!
